    We're skating very well right now. You had to figure that San Jose was going to come into the game as the aggressor. We did a great job overcoming the first three minutes of the game and now the pace is starting to favor us again. Good first twenty minutes, all things considered.

    It's almost like we're playing a modified trap out there. They're having a tough time just getting it past the neutral zone right now.

    You're telling your guys, "we stink at home and have to mix things up." What if they lose that game? Then what? They are in total control, what is the point of introducing gimmicks? They've been horrible in most of the home games in the playoffs. It may be a dumb gimmick, but I'm for anything that changes the mojo that we have entering home games. How about we just play like we do on the road at the United Center? Is that really too much to ask for?

    This series has not been modified in any way. They're playing 'em just the way the schedulers laid 'em out. Correct.

    Behind the strength of Tom Gorzelanny and some timely hitting, the Cubs were able to defeat the Phillies in the first of a modified two game series. Four wins in a row is nice but we're still three under .500. Idiot status will remain at least a few more days for the beloved. Can the Cubs make it five in a row, including sweeping another two game set, tomorrow afternoon? They'll have to do it against one of the fatter pitchers in the league in Joe Blanton on getaway day. Starlin Castro watch: .364/.429/.500

    Hossa's been very quiet in terms of lighting the lamp, but his facilitating and his defense have been exceptional throughout the playoffs. We've really come out strong here in the 3rd.

    Apparently very since he's been a healthy scratch all series. I thought he was turning the corner. Do the matchups just not mesh well with him this series? Must not. I thought he was pretty good in the Vancouver series. Maybe they really, really want Eager in this one? i thought he had been surprisingly decent in the playoffs too He was pretty good in the playoffs. But I have to admit, I didn't even notice that he was on the bench today.
