I don't think there's any such thing as a lock in this year's NFL. -
I think the banner raising ceremony was a good watch, if I was a Hawks fan it would probably have been very cool. The game itself was not good to watch, even for a Wings fan...no flow, little up and down action, a lot of bad passing by both teams. I was impressed with a couple of the "new guys" on the Hawks. Skille made some nice plays. I think if Skille was on the top line with Hossa and Toews instead of Kopecky, the Hawks win that game. I know I don't watch every Hawks game, but I have seen little of him as a Hawk that changes my opinion of him from when he was a Wing. He will look like a great player at times to peak your interest, but when given any serious ice time will make a lot of turnovers. There's no reason why Kopecky should be on the top line.

You state injuries as an issue that might keep the Packers from the playoffs yet despite this excuse you want McCarthy canned if he can't lead you to the playoffs? Yes. I've always believed McCarthy is a poor in-game coach and I think it's very troubling that the injuries will be used as an excuse to keep him around after this year. It's the worst of both worlds, really. That's actually not that bad for Finley. I was expecting much worse than that. Matthews is probably out this week because he re-injured his hamstring yesterday and Rodgers is obviously a question mark for Sunday.

Again, it's just not our year. I've never seen so many key players get hurt over the course of the first few weeks of a season. If we don't make it to the playoffs, I'm really hoping McCarthy gets canned. It seems like whenever we get in 2nd and short or 3rd and short situations, we have less of a chance of picking up the first down compared to 2nd or 3rd and long situations. That's a playcalling problem. Enough is enough already.

I'm sure you're by yourself on that one. Illinois has looked decent in every game this season. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Bulaga's getting his first career start at RT today, filling in for Tauscher. I don't care how we win as long as we win. Find a way.

Lot of rustiness so far. I guess that's sort of expected with the turnover, though.

I can't believe how different the Illinois defense looks this year. Night and day from the last few seasons.

Crossing routes are killing PSU. Nice to see Scheelhaase actually connecting on those patterns too.

That was one of the worst games I've ever seen Seabrook play. Leddy was really bad at the beginning but I also thought he settled down after the first period. Turco made a few really good saves but he should've stopped the last goal. He was decent, though. Glad to get a point on the road. Let's get two tonight.

:banghead: For being 3-1 this season kind of sucks. This has to be the most frustrating 3-1 start I've ever experienced. This week has been just outstanding. We lose two defensive starters for the season, we fail to acquire Lynch, Minnesota trades for Moss and we have the most difficult part of our schedule coming up. Other than that, everything's going great.

I despise Todd Hollandsworth. Plesac's ok on MLBN as a studio guy, but he's never been a good color guy. That whole list is a joke.

Barnett had a setback with his wrist injury. Besides Harris/Bigby/Burnett being out, we're also going to be without Barnett, Chillar, and possibly Shields. That means Hawk and Bishop are going to get a ton of playing time, as will Martin and Bush. I take back what I said earlier. McNabb's going to have a good game on Sunday. It's ridiculous how many injuries we've had on the defensive side of the ball this year, to go along with losing Grant for the season.

He's still really young. He's obviously not going to be the type of player that many thought he was going to be when he was drafted, but there's no reason why he can't be a good 4th liner for us this year.

The same McNabb that went 8/19 last week with no real receiving weapons besides Cooley? That doesn't scare me. But it's tough to win a road game (or any game) when you have no real threat of a running game. I'm expecting a game that's similar to the Bears game -- much more of a lower scoring game than people think. At least Woodson's going to be on Moss so we don't have to deal with Al Harris getting embarrassed by him again. And I don't really think we "lost out" on Lynch either. Thompson just didn't want to give up a higher pick for him. That's all there was to it. The season's over if we truly think John Kuhn and Brandon Jackson are good enough to win the NFC. The stubbornness of this regime is getting really old. That's what I thought, until I realized he was traded for like a 4th rounder. Seattle's 4th rounder should end up being better than our 4th rounder, so it's rumored that Thompson wouldn't give up our 3rd rounder.

So we couldn't give up a third rounder for Marshawn Lynch and the Vikings acquire Randy Moss in the same day. Just not our year.
