  1. Good play by Urlacher. He would have made the tackle on the RB if the reverse was faked too.
  2. 1st and 15. That's the right call.
  3. Orton made a few solid throws. Threw the ball away when needed. Gotta love what the Bears offensive line did on the drive, when they didn't have to block all 11 Steelers.
  4. Crap. Telegraphed call.
  5. I think the Steelers will see that coming.
  6. Good throw!
  7. If that's true.. then FOX had incorrect data. Imagine that. I thought the BEARS scored first on a FG against Green Bay, then went down 3-7. Well, dammit! They've been behind before was my point!
  8. HA! What was that?
  9. Good job. Not gonna make a FG. No use in punting when you have the defense the Bears do.
  10. If that's true.. then FOX had incorrect data. Imagine that. Yeah, it's right. They allowed FGs to both.
  11. Steelers have had 2 straight bad games defensively.
  12. The Bears were down 7-0 to Green Bay and New Orleans weren't they? Obviously, this is a better team, but it's not near over.
  13. Yep. The Steelers may also use a lot of 2 TE sets with Tuman staying in to help Essex on Alex Brown. Mike Green with Heath Miller 1-on-1 is a mismatch in the Steelers favor. Hopefully, the front 4 can provide a lot of pressure and the LBs can help out in the middle.
  14. Thats not good. Without the starting safeties we really need the front 4 to get to Roethlisberger quick. A big effort from Tillman, and Vasher would go a long way tomorrow. I am more worried about this game than any since the Bengals game. Bears still win 16-13. Not so worried without Harris, but being without Brown will suck. Mike Green is not a good football player. I do have faith that Vasher and Tillman can stick on the smaller WRs of Pitt pretty well. Ward will get his catches on Tillman, but won't beat him for big plays. I like the Bears chances with Vasher taking Randle El out of the offensive plan. I'd watch for the Steelers to go to Quincy Morgan deep a few times, though.
  15. Ding Dong! The witch is dead! Finally got that huge monkey off of our backs! Beware America! AJ Ratliff is healthy. DJ White soon to come. We owe one to Charlotte who beat us last year on a 1/2 court shot 1/2 a second AFTER the buzzer should have sounded. No letdown!
  16. I don't think so. Nolasco was a 4th round pick, I believe. But he was overshadowed by the fact he was in the same draft as Prior, and has been teammates with the likes of Sisco, Justin Jones, Guzman, Ryu, Blasko, Brownlie, Pinto, Hill, when they all were top 10 prospects. He has been overshadowed big time. It's hard to get in the top 10 when you are the 4th best starter on your team every year.
  17. No focus on the bench because the Cubs still need a starter in RF and SS/2B assuming they are getting rid of Walker at all costs. And I think 5 is probably gonna be it with the bench again. With Kerry not healthy, the Cubs will look to fill his spot with 2 men (5th starter and swing starter in case the first guy is ineffective. And when he comes back, they will justify that arm by saying that they need it in case a starter leaves the game early. That being said, Marrero would be a decent addition. I'd also hold onto Hairston if Cedeno is the starting SS.
  18. For the record, Bradley would be an excellent pickup for the Pirates. And if they get Mueller too, they would have a solid 1-5 of Duffy, Mueller, Casey, Bay, Bradley. He would provide OBP, a solid OF defender, and potential for big power as a LHH with the short RF porch. I actually think his history would work well with the Pirates, giving the fans here in Pittsburgh something to pay attention to during the non-football/hockey months. "When is he gonna snap, next" would be a great topic for sports talk radio.
  19. Which group would rather have between A & B? Assuming, A is likely the most expensive both in salary and players to acquire. B is more talented as I feel Bradley/Tejada>Lugo/Abreu. But, B has the injury history of Bradley as well as his personality. Ok. I'm a dork. But I just estimated what the impact of Group A vs. Group B. Combining Abreu and Lugo's numbers from last year, I got .291/.382/.438 for an OPS of .820. I took Tejada's numbers from last year, and took Bradley's 162 game average (since he hasn't played a full season), but gave him the .290 BA he had this year in LA (tough hitter's park). So, that gave Bradley a line of .290/.367/.467. Giving Group B a .298/.355/.493 for an OPS of .848. So, technically, assuming healthy Tejada and Bradley might actually be more productive. Although, Abreu and Lugo help address the team's biggest weakness more. Of course, this little "study" did give Bradley the benefit of the doubt and didn't factor in that Abreu had one of his worst seasons in years and could rebound. That said, I'd take group A if the cost was similar (prospects wise), because OBP, health, and Abreu's big LH bat. Raw here's a quick way to use an adjusted OPS that makes up for the difference between OBP and SLG which incorrectly weighs in favor of SLG. This is one way to do it... (.340 OBP is typically avg. and the standard for a decent OBP) OBP+SLG+(OBP-.340) Oddly enough, if you do that... Both come out to .862 for OPS As Abreu/Lugo have .042 added to OPS, while Tejada/Bradley have .015 added. I'm a bigger dork. Crap. I was actually looking for that formula (or similar) when I got sidetracked on Scottie Pippen.
  20. The NBA should pass a rule where certain people can wear sweats during a game. Smitz should have never been allowed in shorts and a tank top. Get Carmelo a sweater while you're at it, so I don't have to see those feminime shoulders, too long arms, and that bird chest.
  21. Strangely enough, the Cubs are by far more important to me than the Bulls. But even more strangely, I've never had a major connection to Sandberg or Grace, and now even Prior. I was always a Dawson, Sosa, Dunston, and now Zambrano and Patterson kinda guy. Guess I have a thing for tools like Hendry. Or maybe I just hate white guys. Still, I picked Ryno over Pippen. Mainly because I remember Sandberg in June for making Bruce Sutter his ______, and I remember Pippen in June for the time he shaved his head and looked like a shar pei. And for when he got elbowed in the playoffs and had that huge freakin lump on his head!

  23. Bruce, nice article today about Tejada. I just hope that Hendry shares your enthusiasm. Do you think Hendry views Tejada as someone that the Cubs would be willing to part with "untouchables"? http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/sportsstory.asp?id=130468 Oh, I think so. Hendry just should have signed Tejada after the 03 season, and gotten rid of Alex Gonzalez, even if he had to pay him to play for someone else. That move still irks me. Did he even try? You would think he would have had a good shot with his good buddy Sosa still on the team then, along with Alou and Ramirez.
  24. Bradley's value keeps going up, but so does Lugo's as only Boston is without a legit SS candidate. It would be close, but because of the GMs, I would guess Abreu and Lugo would be more expensive to acquire.
