  1. he is dominating but daytona is high A. he should be going to AA soon i would think with perhaps marmol going to iowa. in that case, it might be the end of brownlie with the cubs. I think you are jumping the gun a little. There isn't a need to move guys around yet after just the 3rd time thru the rotation. I think at the 10 start mark you may see some moves, and that's provided Marmol and Gallagher keep dominating. Gallagher was more dominant to start last year and stayed in Peoria all year. Marmol was dominant, and started 10 times in Daytona. And I don't think Brownlie is just gonna be tossed aside. He will at least finish the year in the organization. Brownlie = bust? Maybe, but Montanez has to be a bigger bust in my mind. Yeah, Brownlie's a bust. I still think he could be a ML'er, though. Definitely not somebody that should be dropped.
  2. where's the batter vs. pitcher stats. Let's go people!

  4. Yep, bad lineup without Kent and Nomar, not great with them. I'll be disappointed if LA gets more than 2 runs tonight. Lowe will be tough on the freeswinging Cubs though.
  5. Change your sig to 2006.
  6. I don't agree with the part about Pedro. Neither Maddux or Clemens was as good as Pedro was in their prime. I'd probably go: 1. Clemens 2A. Maddux 2B. Pedro 4. Unit Don't misunderstand me, I think Pedro is great and "stuff" wise he may be better than all of them, that's why I prefaced my remarks by saying "for their body of work". I don't think Pedro will aproach anywhere near the amount of wins or the longevity of any of the guys I mentioned. His durability, when compared to them also comes into play. edit: I know, I know, wins are more of a team stat, but I think over the course of a career they can be used to compare to some degree. Yeah, I understand. I just give Pedro more credit for being more dominant than the other 2. And even though his career hasn't and won't be nearly as long....he was still a top 3 SP for a good number of years (about 7-8).

  8. Rocket, very close.
  9. 4 stolen bases though! Can't make fun of Beltre, kept him in a keeper league thinking he would rebound this year. Not a good idea. At least I picked up Melvin Mora for insurance.
  10. No matter how good Maddux is this year (assuming he doesn't continue to pitch 1 ERA baseball), the Cubs shouldn't get into the practice of signing 41 year old pitchers to high paying contracts. It would nice if Maddux is coming back to have him finish his career as a Cub, but the Cubs already signed an old Maddux for basically sentimental reasons. As for Wood, if he pitches well....I think the Cubs pick up his option but negotiate a 3-year deal with him lowering his 2007 salary, with a huge option and buyout to make up for the salary difference. If he doesn't pitch well, he's gone. If he's healthy, though, no reason not to expect him to pitch well.
  11. I was thinking the same. The Dodgers were pretty LH though, and they had a tough time. Wish I coulda watched last night. Maddux is still one of the best pitchers to watch when he's on. Some of the best movement possibly ever.
  12. From some of his past transactions, DUI could stand for dealing under the influence.
  13. Daytona 8th. Issmael Salas singles on a fly ball to left fielder Alhaji Turay. Joseph Simokaitis triples (2) on a line drive to left fielder Alhaji Turay. Issmael Salas scores. Nate Spears singles on a ground ball to center fielder Ambiorix Concepcion. Joseph Simokaitis scores. Sam Fuld walks. Nate Spears to 2nd. Jemel Spearman singles on a fly ball to center fielder Ambiorix Concepcion. Nate Spears scores. Sam Fuld to 3rd. Jemel Spearman to 2nd on the throw. Ryan Harvey reaches on a fielder's choice, fielded by shortstop Jose Coronado. Sam Fuld scores. Jemel Spearman to 3rd. Nic Jackson grounds into a force out, second baseman Ryan Coultas to shortstop Jose Coronado. Jemel Spearman scores. Ryan Harvey out at 2nd. Nic Jackson to 1st. Jake Fox lines out to shortstop Jose Coronado. Alan Rick grounds out, third baseman Shawn Bowman to first baseman Mike Carp.
  14. Big inning for Daytona, as they look to get their 3rd win of the season. 5 run 8th it looks like, no details on the scoreboard yet.
  15. Fox and Rick walked. Salas with a single. Simonkaitis with bases loaded HBP, Spears with a sac fly.
  16. single, sac bunt, groundout, K in the 5th for Gallagher. 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER (2 total), 0 BB, 1 HBP, 7 Ks.
  17. Following online. Actually, there was a HBP, GIDP and flyout in the 4th.
  18. Perfect 4th for Gallagher. 2 GO, 1 FO.
  19. 6 Ks thru 2 for Gallagher. 3 IP, 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 Ks. 1 GO, 3 FO (10 outs because 1 K reached on passed ball).
  20. Gallagher gives up a solo HR. 1st ER of the season. Jake Fox double and Issmael Salas gets the run back with a RBI single 2-1 St. Lucie after 2
  21. I think there's a much better chance than you think that Wood is back. And I don't agree that Prior is unreliable, but that's debatable I guess. And still $9M is a lot for a guy that isn't a guaranteed top of the line starter.
  22. For your sig....the year is 2006.
  23. Leadoff double. Ryan Harvey's error gets the runner to 3B and he scores on a GB. Gallagher finishes the inning with 2 Ks. Run should be unearned.
  24. WOW. I didnt know Pie's OBP was that much higher than his BA. I know this is only 52PA, but this is a really encouraging sign. Im impressed. Brownie on the other hand is really lmaking me scratch my head. That's helped alot by his HBP and intentional walk yesterday. But his BB/K ratio is very good and much improved so far.
