  1. I think that is right: Z = 07' Prior = 08' Correct. That will change after January.
  2. Zambrano Prior Marshall Marmol is a good start to a rotation, if Prior is healthy. I'd let Wood (1-year incentive laden deal), Guzman, Hill, and whoever else is here, fight it out for the last spot. Also, watch out for Sean Gallagher next year. He has a good shot to pull a Marshall and make the team out of camp if someone gets hurt....provided he goes to AA after the AS break this year.
  3. Good outlook this week for the Dizzawgs. Santana and Smoltz with 2 starts each. If Weaver gets the 2nd start this week (doubtful with Colon coming back), then IT'S ON! I need Vlad to start coming around. He's been like my 8th best offensive player lately.
  4. Mauer has almost singlehandedly led to me coming back in one of my leagues (Sizemore and Utley helped too, I guess). OF course, I did have Loe starting on that team too. Last week, I beat both #1 teams in my Yahoo leagues 11-1.
  5. Hall can play multiple positions and would make for an ideal guy off the bench. Amazing that the Brew Crew would consider bench depth as a need and the Cubs consider it unnecessary. I don't think that's true. That's why the Cubs have been overanxious at signing Perez, Mabry, and Blanco the last couple years. Why they have gone after retreads like E. Wilson, and traded something of value for Bynum. And this offseason, the Cubs filled the bench before even filling the black hole in RF. I think they consider bench depth a need. Almost too much. The problem is they can't evaluate talent.
  6. Put Freddy Sanchez at SS for Khalil Greene. Sanchez just qualified for SS on Sunday, but the site updated his eligibility too late for me to get him in the lineup yesterday. Sucks, because I lost about 8 points.
  7. I don't think I would want Marmol in there after pitching 2 innings yesterday the first time in relief in at least the last 2 1/2 years. But yeah, once he gives up the hit, you put in anybody.
  8. Crap. No reason for him to be pitching anymore.

    Wow!

    No explanation needed.
  10. Me too. I've given up hope on the Cubs embracing OBP, so I just hope they get all the .300 hitting/30 HR guys they can get.
  11. That was especially true a few years ago, but now...you have some great talent in AAA. Delmon, Pie, Brandon Wood, etc. I think it's due to a lot of the higher payroll teams having great minor league systems, thus being able to hold prospects in the minors longer (LAD, LAA, even the Cubs to some extent)
  12. Anyone want to make a major deal? I'm willing to give up an OF (Vlad or Berkman), but want a need position player back in return. Same with Mora. I'm not giving up the season yet, but looking to shake things up.
  13. He's gonna need to go nuts for that to happen. Wells, Sizemore, GMJ, Granderson, and Damon are all in front of him, production wise. I think you may be underestimating the public/manager's outlook on stolen bases, seeing as he currently leads the league. He's pretty much being Carl Crawford with more, well, everything. And OF isn't voted on by specific position. Figure Vlad, Manny and Ichiro are auto-picks by the fans. I can't see Corey beating out the rest of the AL OF's this year. If he goes on to steal 60+ bases this season, he'll have the name recognition going next year and might be able to make it. Being another year away from knee surgery is probably huge for Corey right now. Everyone knows he's running....they just can't do anything about it. Of course, we're talking about Jorge Posada he was running against. I fully expect him to put up a .270-.285/.325-.340/.480-.500 type season with close to 30 HRs, and there's no reason he shouldn't get 60 steals.
  14. And that was the concern with the Pierre trade. Mitre and Pinto, I didn't mind giving up, for what I thought was gonna be a .350 ish OBP leadoff man. Nolasco was overkill and was the best prospect of the bunch. Other than the time he was pushed too soon to AAA, he was dominant everywhere he pitched and well below average age for his leagues.
  15. Great effort by my team will go for naught. Smoltz had 20-point stuff, but gave up 4 runs and took the loss. O'Connor had good stuff, but walked a bunch of people and gave up 3 ERs in the 6th after dominating thru 4-5. I needed at least 1 20-pt start. It may have still not mattered as Rodrigo [expletive] Lopez is throwing a gem against the team formerly known as the Yankees.
  16. Lovie's a tough nut. I dig it. Well, maybe Joe can supplant Hillenmeyer, but no way is Lovie that stupid to sit one of the top 3 OLBs in the game because he missed a few days of mini-camp.
  17. Thanks Goony. Right now, it's looking like Grossman, Briggs, or Benson. Vasher is an option too, but my buddy's number in football was 31 and I always made fun of him for liking that number.
  18. How 'bout a vintage #34? Those usually run close to $100 for even a replica. I'm looking to pay 60ish.
  19. I want a Bears white replica jersey. Anybody know where I can find a variety of different #'s to choose from? Also, anybody have any non-Urlacher suggestions of what jersey I should get?
  20. Guess which team leads the Florida State League in IsoD? By a healthy margin? That's more of a function of the players than the organizational philosophy. The DCubs have a bunch of players at or above average age (which I believe is around 23). All but, Harvey, Spears and Rick are over 23 on the offensive side of the roster.
  21. I wonder where Wells is on the list of potential guys to get called up to start in the majors? Obviously, he's not on the 40-man, but I would be very interested to see him against ML hitters. I still think he can be a lights-out short reliever, but he's showing he can be a pretty decent starter this year.
  22. Want Blanton for Smoltz? Blanton only gave me a complete game shut out last night. :D Well, it was KC. Yeah, I saw that. Blanton wasn't doing crap for me.
  23. I'm getting my monkey arse whooped! My bats need to come alive. My pitching has been amazing in my wins (except for last week) and mediocre in my losses. Looks like I'll be 2 games out of the playoffs. At least I have a solid 2nd half history to fall back on.
  24. I firmly believe that there's no way that Patterson would be putting up the numbers he has with the Cubs this year. Not with this coaching staff. I don't think there was much of a shot of him succeeding with this organization as it currently stands. BTW, Patterson stole his 19th base tonight. 1 behind the ML lead. He's on pace for a 30/30 season (actually 30/60).
  25. One pitcher starts the 6th inning with 2 ERs....gets a ball off the shin leaves the game with the inherited run charged to him. NO QS, extra earned run. Another pitcher, gives up just 1 hit in 5 of his 6 innings, other inning, has a lapse and gives up 4. Goes 6, NO QS. CB has 3 pitchers all go exactly 6 IP, 3 ER.
