  1. USC lost to Stanford. If you consider them with this loss, you have to consider WVU with the loss tonight. Sadly, USC would probably beat the crap out of OSU. But they don't deserve a chance.
  2. LSU lost by a total of 8 in 2 OTs. What about Kansas? I think they have just as good an argument as Georgia.
  3. Doesn't LSU almost have to jump Georgia? Both have 2 losses, LSUs came in a combined 6 OTs. I just don't see the justification in taking a team in a conference over the conference champion.
  4. Pitt is getting screwed.
  5. Good half, I think because I can't see it. Shooting well, but need to get on the defensive glass a little better. Gotta like the Hoosiers chances, being that they have 34 points and SIU has allowed about 56ppg the last 2 years.
  6. Any chance a squeaked out win by WVU give OSU a chance to leapfrog?
  7. Oops again. He missed. I'm too far away from the TV. That looked good to me.
  8. Oops. Called back. 13-7
  9. There was no scenario that I imagined that had WVU losing this game at home. 17-7 Pitt.
  10. Go Salukis! Not just saying that as a U of I fan, but since I went to SIU for 2 years, I try to root for them as well. What do you expect in this game? Honestly I really dont know after seeing USC dominate SIU like they did. If Im the Salukis, I try and do the same thing to Gordon that Xavier did, but thats easier said than done. SIU needs a big game from Faulker, and SIU arena is sure to be crazy. Probably one of the best matchups Carbondale has seen in probably forever. I give IU credit for going there. Might result in a loss, but should be a good learning experience in that environment. Yeah, I especially give IU credit for going there when they already went there once (I'm pretty sure it was the year IU went to the title game) a few years ago and get destroyed. Usually one loss like that to a mid-major and schools like IU go running, but they were willing to play Southern Illinois in Carbondale again. I see this as a tight game, but IU has to start coming together as a team. They're still not on the same page, and if they continue to be that way it will be a long night with SIU's defense. Honestly, I think IU is a much better than than SIU. SIU doesn't really have the guards to matchup up with Gordon and Ellis defensively, if they attack the rim. IU also has the size up front to give SIU some trouble. However, on the road and playing 2 players short (Crawford, Ratliff) it's gonna be a mighty tough win for the Hoosiers. Should be interesting.
  11. Padres rotation looks to be set. Peavy, Young, Maddux, Wolf, Prior.
  12. These are completely random guesses. Most hits= Corey Hart Most Hrs= Adam Dunn Most Walks= Prince Fielder Most Ks= Jim Edmonds Edit all wrong.
  13. Don't see the Orioles incentive to trade Roberts. And no, neither Roberts nor Derosa can play SS long-term. Though, Roberts is a player, I wouldn't mind Derosa being the supersub for if he's not starting.
  14. FWIW, I don't see anything anywhere else.
  15. They talked about it again like it was a done deal. Santana for Hughes, Cabrera and Kennedy.
  16. Just flipped to the UNC/UK basketball game and Dick Vitale said the Yankees did the Santana deal for Hughes and Cabrera at least.
  17. The only good top of the order players that could even be remotely be available are and fast are Crawford and Figgins.
  18. We play MSU and Wisconsin twice. We only have Michigan and Purdue once. I was just looking at the schedule too. IU should be favored in all but 2 of their remaining games (the 2 you mentioned).
  19. Big game for IU tonight. Their only true road game of the non-conference schedule. A win tonight, and IU will probably not be seriously tested again til Jan. 31 at Wisconsin.....as they only travel to Iowa, Michigan, and Minnesota. The only teams that look like tourney teams til 1/31 are UK and U of I, both of which are in Bloomington.
  20. Huffman is very young and from what i'm reading seems like a OBP machine with some decent pop potential. LeBlanc seems very good as well, though I don't know about his stuff (just going off stats). I'd probably do this if it is for all 3, but I have a feeling it's a choose 1 or 2 thing. Huffman's gonna be 23 for 90% of the 2008 season, and probably gonna start in AA, where he only has 150 or so ABs. Not saying he's a bad prospect, but he's not very young.
  21. The only SS option I see being a good fit for the Cubs and being available for a reasonable price is Miguel Tejada. However, if that deal would be of interest....I'd try: Greene to the Cubs. Murton and Dempster to the Red Sox Crisp and a Cubs pitching prospect (Veal, Gallagher, Hart) to the Padres. Cubs probably may have to pay a little of Dempster's salary too. Sox have been looking for a setup man for Papelbon. SD could be interested in some close to the majors pitching.
  22. If the Cubs don't get Santana it's not gonna be because someone gave up a better package. It's because the Cubs aren't interested. Not saying that the Cubs have the best stuff (prospects/cheap MLers to offer) to offer, just saying it won't take that.
  23. Good trade for both teams. Both trade from strength to greatly upgrade a weakness. Garza is a good pitching prospect.
  24. Mizzou is gonna lose. I still believe Oklahoma and LSU are the 2 best teams. For all the talk about ugly wins, it has taken 6 OTs for LSUs 2 losses. I don't think OSU deserves a chance to play for the title, but WVU/Ohio St. would be HUGE in this area. Neighboring states. Everyone around here is a fan of one or the other.
  25. Gordon struggled, battled foul trouble...and still had 20. IU, on the other hand, as a team stunk. Yea Im just messing around. Im glad you can take it, and not get all bent out of shape. The IU-UI rivalry is fun. Yea Gordon still had 20, but 12 of those were on free throws. Was he just cold today, or did Xavier do something defensively to throw him off that other teams hadnt done? I'd say there were a number of factors. This was the first real D-I defense he's faced. Sampson's offense stinks (as we all know) so Gordon pretty much had to go on his own to try and score. He was as off as I've seen him. He picked his third foul with 7-8 or so minutes left in the first half and sat the rest of the way. Finally, the officiating was terrible -- though NOT at all the reason they lost -- and he probably should've shot even more free throws (he was consistently mugged when he got the ball). IU must get much, much better running some sort of halfcourt offense and defending inside. They've actually regressed on the later, despite actually adding interior players without losing any. Xavier was a game I've been worried about since I first saw IU play -- they're a bad matchup. This week offers two tough games, but Georgia Tech is at home and not that great, and I think IU matches up better with Southern Illinois (not to say they'll win, of course). Yeah, a horrible shooting game. Again, a lot of 1-on-1 plays. Not nearly enough offensive flow. But even the open shots weren't falling. Couldn't finish around the rim. As for Gordon, Xavier did to him what teams are gonna have to do to contain him. Put a bigger man on him to make it tough for him to shoot. And when he drove to the basket, they threw another big at him. He was frustrated. They were hacking him a lot, most of which was called. On one hand, he played like a freshman by not looking for his teammates when he got in trouble. On the other, he knew his shot was off and still scored 20 by taking it hard to the hole. Xavier was easier the tougher team. They challenged everything IU did. SIU will be the same way. But you are right, we matchup better.
