  1. Anybody have last year's final rosters so I can pick my keepers?
  2. Grant Johnson is my latest ND pitcher to get a big "He Sucks" from me. It help Jeff Samardzija turn his season around. Don't know that it will do much for Grant.
  3. Leadoff hitter? I think the biggest need is probably still another starting pitcher. I don't think it's a make or break type of thing, but if you look at the team you can't improve 3B, 1B, C, LF or RF. Derosa has been great. Theriot has been solid. And the CF platoon has worked. The glaring weakness right now is Marquis/Lilly, whoever is struggling at the time. Sure there's Marshall, Gaudin and potentially Hill, but none of them are likely to be much better than Marquis/Lilly for the rest of this year. And you still have the potential for a Harden injury and/or Dempster flameout. Having 3 of those names in the rotation after an injury is a scary proposition. Still though, probably not worth it given what the Cubs would have to give up and the money they would be paying Lilly/Marquis to be in the pen, released or traded. The most glaring need worth making a move on is a bullpen arm. Preferably a shutdown lefty in the spot occupied by guys who are just pitching once a week anyway.
  4. The Bears won before with the same QB and less talent at WR. Every WR on the roster now is better than Rashied Davis (the #3 WR in 06) was then. At least 1/2 are better than Moose was in 06.
  5. I don't think the offense will be terrible. I would hope the defense and special teams would go back to being elite. Below average (better than terrible) offense, elite D, and elite special teams equals a pretty good team.
  6. Nothing like bunting and scoring on the same play. Weird with it listed in that order. But I'm guessing the 3B threw the ball into RF, where inturn the RF threw wildly to 3B.
  7. Yeah, I called this exact date the night he got injured. Somebody find the thread!
  8. Dbacks are going with Davis, Haren, then Webb after the break. Which means..... Cubs will miss Haren and Webb! Should be Harden vs. Johnson, Marquis vs. Owings, Lilly vs. Davis.
  9. There, fixed. The wedding was in Missouri: not California. Well, then at least his sister won't have to change her last name.
  10. Chris Capuano, Hong-Chih Kuo, Victor Zambrano and Jeff Zimmerman have had two. Apparently Jose Rijo got it done three times. Yep, I do remember Jose Rijo had it thrice now that you said it.
  11. Only if the parks can have the 190ft to LF like the LA Coliseum.
  12. 111 pages for an exhibition game? You lames!
  13. Has anyone every needed multiple Tommy John surgeries?
  14. Any idea if Rich Hill is staying in Mesa or going to Iowa this week?
  15. Home field didn't help in the 2003 NLCS.
  16. Maybe he wants to win. Too late now. Contrary to popular belief, the Bears are not as bad as some think. The Bears still have their Super Bowl caliber defense intact. If the Offense is even remotely average, the Bears should and could challenge for best in the NFC. Yeah, I said it..... Pardon my pessimism, but what makes you think the Bears have even a remotely average offense? The offensive line should make a couple strides, but all the skill position players are terrible or question marks First of all, I said "IF" they had an offense remotely average. Second, there is plenty of offensive talent on the Bears. The PROBLEM is, they are way.............underdeveloped (Grossman) or extremely raw( Bradley and Hester). And I know the Bears should not be hedging their bets on "serious ???", but it's not as if they players don't have the talent to succeed. So, I am still holding out hope that the Bears will have an average OFFENSE next yr. It's possible, look at the 06 offense. They were pretty average-to slightly above with similar talent. Grossman, Kreutz, Garza, McKie, and Clark are the same.....but only Grossman is NOT on the downside of his career. The skilled positions are younger, faster and more talented....but as you said, more raw. Forte and Jones are more talented than Jones/Benson. Bradley, Booker, Hester, Bennett, Olsen bring more talent to the table than Moose, Davis, and Berrian (though Berrian is/was talented). The key is obviously gonna be the O-line. The right side of the line have to stay steady (C included) and the left side of the line has to get real good real quick. I'd also like to think that Grossman, Bradley and Hester in particular would be much improved also in the passing game. I think the defense will be good enough. Harris healthier. Vasher, who was a huge loss, will be healthy. And the safety position should be improved from the start of the year as well.
  17. I found it interesting that Boise scored 9 runs and 4 of the 9 hitters did NOT score or drive in a run. Don't usually see that when nobody has a complete monster game.
  18. Chris Simms would be nice. But neither he nor Jones will see enough time on the field to make a huge difference.
  19. 12 at least. Anything less leaves teams too loaded. I'd prefer 12 or 14 to 16 managers.
  20. Or you could look at it like I had the opportunity to do the same, and I failed as well. I hate having Adam back in the race. I'd love to see him miss the playoffs. I knew you were gonna lose before I knew I was gonna lose though. I thought I had a legit shot to win with the Mets night game, until Sabathia came out for the 9th (3Ks, CG for an extra 10 points) and Lincecum came out for the 8th. Both were over 100 pitches before their final innings.
  21. Damn, that's a good looking man.
  22. I'm really taking this week's loss hard. Abuck is right back in the race. I blew a chance to take a 1-game lead over Don.
  23. He also has a .249 career batting average. Meaning his ISODiscpline is .056 and he has a .067 BB/PA. Just as a reference (not saying he is or will ever be as good), Aramis Ramirez before 2008 had a BB/PA of .067 and an ISOD of .050.
  24. I have the highest scoring exempt hitter and the highest scoring exempt pitcher. And I have Volquez the 3rd highest scoring exempt pitcher.
