That's just as crazy as anything Dusty did the Prior, Wood and Z. The major difference is the Reds aren't in the pennant race, so he's probably taking it easy on Cueto.
Nice to see the Bears are so family oriented, letting the players bring their kids to camp with them. Who's old enough on the Bears to have a 12-year old though?
Seriously. That could be the difference between a playoff team and a non-playoff team. I am assuming nagging injuries to both. Neither has played much football in 2 years, they aren't going to play 16 this year. But if neither get season enders, I think the Bears have a shot to compete as their D will most likely be elite if that is the case and obviously no other huge parts get a major injury.
Yeah, McCutheon will be fine. I'd trade Nady along with Marte to the Rays and try to get Brignac and an arm or 2 close to the majors (Talbot, Hellickson, Houser). Then I would do the Jack Wilson trade to LA. I'd try to get whoever they don't want between Dewitt and Laroche probably straight up and be happy. Keep Bay. The offense probably moves laterally at worst next year going from Nady to McCutheon and Bautista/Mientkiewicz to Dewitt or Laroche. Defense is better. Get a couple arms that can throw in the rotation right away. The Pirates pitching depth is non-existant right now.
Right. We have him for one more year. Although after this year, he won't be cheap! So, if I'm right, the Pirates have Wilson, Bay, Laroche, Nady, and Sanchez up after 2009?
my bad. didn't realize Helton is having an off year. Not at off year at 36. It's called the twilight. Helton is 34, not 36. Still in his twilight, perhaps, but he is not 36. I just randomly picked a number. Either way, Helton is not that good this year because he has become a not that good player because of his age.
The Cubs are getting the 8th best production out of the 3-hole and 9th best out of the cleanup spot.....that's in the majors. Lee and Ramirez are and have been fine.
