  1. I'm glad they kept him so they can at least avoid having to use a draft pick on the position. You really have to wonder what the motivation was for not using the guy much and running the crap out of Forte. Then again, they played Marty Booker over Earl Bennett all year and had no intention of keeping him either, and he wasn't doing a thing to help the team. I'm really disappointed that they could have had TO for very little and apparantly didn't even express interest. The WR position would have been solved for this season, giving them flexibility to draft guys at any spot. Since they are ignoring the position in free agency they have to get one early and hope he contributes early. I like Hester as a receiver, but thinking of him as a #1 is way past being just a stretch. He'd be a solid 2 with a real receiver taking double teams, but there's no way he's going to be the "must stop" guy that any defense worries about every play. The Bears supposedly are interested in Torry Holt. I do think he'd be a similar WR to T.O. production wise, but wouldn't be a headache. Unfortunately, I think the Bears will have to trade for him before he gets cut (likely this weekend) because I don't think his first choice would be the Bears if a team that could use a vet WR like Indy, Philly, or Dallas.
  2. I thought it was more suspicious that Jordan's dad was murdered and not robbed, and then MJ retired until he paid off his gambling debts to the mob.
  3. Wouldn't the Patriots now be on the clock thanks to the Cassell trade?
  4. Judging by your location...Coffman fan? Very much so. But even leaving Coffman aside, Pettigrew is essentially a guard with good hands. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but it seems to me that there's lots of guys around who can do the same thing. I'd want a TE that can go get the ball in the red zone if you're taking one that high. One of the steals of the draft could be a player like that. UF TE Cornelius Ingram is very athletic, but his injury is knocking him down quite a bit. HE didn't help himself at the combine either, so he's a 5th rounder right now, but give him a couple years and he could be a real good TE.
  5. You think? I like Moreno, McCoy, then Beanie in that order. All are pretty close though.
  6. Would the other teams do it though? Right now he's an apparent busted pick who can't get off the bench against a (granted, very talented) 40-year-old QB. If he starts pitching a fit because he's not earning a chance, would other teams jump at acquiring a malcontent apparent busted pick who can't get off the bench against a (granted, very talented) 40-year-old QB? I really doubt they'd give an early pick. I realize he's stuck on the bench now, but I think the chances are high that he would piss off more teams than he would entice by whining now. Warner's earned his starting jobs, but Leinart hasn't played particularly well. I doubt teams would be turned off by a QB in his situation asking for a trade. You can ask for that trade without being a complete malcontent. He's in a bad situation, because he's going to hit free agency without any playing time under his belt. Playing the good guy isn't going to drive up his eventual price, the only way he can do that is by playing right now. AZ has a ton of cash tied up in QB, and will have a ton tied into WR. They should be motivated to deal the guy. Given Warner's health, it could be enticing to keep a guy like Leinart around to backup, but that's a luxury at this point. As a Bears fan, would you trade for Leinart, assuming a reasonable cost?
  7. I'm about to make a true statement that will change each of your lives: Juan Pierre is a worse version of Joey Gathright. Think about that.
  8. Torry Holt has asked to be released. Braylon Edwards may be on the trading block. Holt, Edwards, and T.O. all available, combined with Coles, a weak WR FA class has turned into a pretty solid group of veterans.
  9. My wife was laid off at the end of January. She just got called back Monday, on a part-time basis. There was no way I was going to get a 2nd job, along with going to school.
  10. How long until Leinart comes out and says he wants to be traded? He'd probably do well to keep his mouth shut. Leinart hasn't been particularly impressive in his limited amount of chances and coming out now demanding a trade would likely get him stuck on somebody's bench. He's stuck on somebody's bench now. The difference is he doesn't have a chance of getting off that bench in Arizona. If Matt Leinart isn't just happy with his paycheck, he should do whatever he can to get traded to Chicago, Tampa, New York, and a couple other places (maybe not Detroit). He's still very young and has a lot of potential. I'd imagine if Tampa can't make a trade for Cutler, they'd give up a pick for Leinart. As a Bears fan, if I could get him for a 3rd rounder, I would in a heartbeat.
  11. Tim, with all due respect, the "spirit" of the rules seem to mostly have to be interpreted due to you. It was previously, trading a draft pick for a keeper. Last year you asked if you could pick up someone who had negative points in order to take down your keeper total so you could add someone else. There have been others, but now there's this. Maybe you are a better GM than all the other managers in the league, but it certainly seems as if you are constantly trying to find ways to find gray areas in the rules. Personally, I say more power to you. If you are smart enough to think of it first, good for you. But don't be surprised if people take exception to it and question the "fairness" of your actions.
  12. Lemme know where it says which part of your roster you can or can't place the players on. It exactly describes the pool of players to pick from, it says nothing about how to roster them once selected. Nobody has suggested that it was against the rules, just that it was against the spirit of the rules.
  13. I ended up going VMart and Lester. Cano was the best 2B out there and he just went before I picked again. So, at this point I'm looking at Figgins or Derosa. But I was able to pick up Kerry Wood and Aubrey Huff last time around, which I think are steals. Guys like Jason Werth and Jose Valverde went ahead of those 2.
  14. I didn't read every single post, but I don't see anything wrong with putting someone with eligibility in the minor leagues...per se. However, we were doing the major league draft with a seperate minor league draft. If we are drafting for our major league rosters, then a player drafted and put into the minor leagues before the season starts should NOT be allowed. It's a way to get an extra player while keeping your roster legal. If someone is going into your minor leagues they should be in the minor league draft.
  15. I know, I know. I thought Britton, Beaty or Unger would be too big a reach there, though. If we could, I'd have traded down to the end of the 1st and drafted an OL. Sadly, I can't see Angelo taking an OL in the first round in consecutive years. Everything to me points to a DE. Pass rush was weak last year. Ogunleye, Brown, and Anderson are all FA in 2010. Marinelli brought in to coach the DL. With him being the biggest offseason addition so far, I think they will give him another player to work with.
  16. I expect to lead the league in points and have one of the top 3 records in the league and lose in the first round of the playoffs in a blowout. Happened like 4 of 6 years so far.
  17. I went with Lackey over Oswalt because I figured Roy O had a better chance of making it back to me. I pick in the 1st slot, but traded the #1 for the #7 and Matt Holliday, so Oswalt only had to make it 13 picks. And he did. So, I was able to get Roy O and Lackey. Now, I have: C 1B- Votto 2B- SS- H Ramirez 3B- Longoria OF- Holliday OF- Kemp OF- Quentin U- SP- Lackey SP- Oswalt SP- D Price SP- RP- Nathan RP- P- P- Not much on the board in hitters. But I don't want to be stuck with extremely weak spots, so I think I'm going to target VMart or Huff (C or U) next along with a P. But I don't know if I want a SP or RP. I hope the league shies away from guys like Gallardo, Harden, and Wainwright because of injuries and hope Nolasco stays under the radar so maybe I can get 2 of these guys after it goes around a couple times. Any suggestions on what I would do?
  18. Yesterday, before getting Antonio Smith, this would have been a DE pick, but after paying big money to Mario Williams' counterpart: The Houston Texans select: CB Vontae Davis, University of Illinois
  19. A couple things. Cutler isn't going anywhere. Denver was stupid for going after lesser QB in Cassel. If Cutler does go anywhere, I would trade a 1st and 3rd for him. He's that good. If Cutler does become available, Tampa will give more than the Bears. I'm hearing if Omiyale is the LG, Beekman will be the RG, his natural position. Mike Brown is better than Darren Sharper. If the Bears are interested in Sharper, then why not just bring Mike Brown back, who is younger?
  20. Granderson's out there too.
  21. Keeper league, Rotisserie style. Typical stats. My roster: HRamirez, MHolliday, Longoria, Quentin, Kemp, Votto, David Price. Top players on the board are KRod, Rivera, Rios, Oswalt, Youkilis, Lackey. Also, Alexei Ramirez is tempting because he's the best 2B on the board til Uggla. I need to know who to pick.
  22. I'll take Jason Kubel and be done.
  23. And he'll get to play right next to his little brother.
  24. 10 teams were interested in Omiyale. He was a backup to some pretty good linemen in Carolina at both tackle and guard spots. Played 1 game this year (only game in 4 years) and didn't give up a sack. I can't complain about the Bears giving a 26 year old, who has received some positive feedback , a shot to play. If he's good enough to start, great. If you draft someone that beats him out, he's quality depth that has been quality depth for a strong OL. I'm guessing he's your starting RT though. I wouldn't bring back JSC at this point.
