  1. I see this thread turning into an IU fans are delusional and haven't won forever bashing fest.
  2. Rumor going around that Greg Olsen could be traded to New England for one of their three 2nd round picks.
  3. This is kind of tough. As far as tradition goes, nobody beats IU. Michigan St and Ohio St. has the recent success. I think the state of Indiana has some pretty good players so I would say IU and Purdue get the edge in recruiting opps. IU over Purdue because of the tradition, but Purdue has the recent success over IU. Location I would give to Ohio St. Ohio St. Michigan St. Indiana Michigan Illinois Purdue Wisconsin Iowa Minnesota Northwestern Penn St.
  4. Green, Bulger, Kitna and O'Sullivan all had decent mobility at one time. Green and Bulger had injuries which hurt their mobility. Kitna always was a mobile QB. And O'Sullivan was 5th for QBs in yards per game scrambling when he started 8 games for Martz in 2008. I don't think Martz will be able to get away with hanging his QB out to dry in Chicago like he might have been able to in his former cities. I think we're going to see a tempered Martz approach, not the "greatest show on turf" Martz approach. Yeah Martz's ex-teams were all dead in the water offensively. The Rams, Lions and Niners all needed severe overhauls offensively. The Bears offense isn't great, but already has a franchise QB established unlike those other teams (Warner became one under Martz). I think he would be forced to change some things if Cutler is getting knocked around like Aaron Rodgers was early last year.

  6. Don't do it Chester. Throwing the ball isn't a major strike against Martz. The thing I would be concerned about are the deep routes he runs and number of 7 step drops he uses with that o-line. His QB's have gotten killed when they haven't had a good o-line in front of them. For the Bears, OL is a much bigger need than WR or anything on defense in my opinion. I'm hoping Williams is ready to be that left tackle now. I'm basing this off of his play against the Vikings late in the season, which was pretty good against one of the better pass rushers in the league. I'm still worried about it though. I realize there's more to it than just LT, but that would be the key first step to not having Cutler land in the hospital. I'm more worried about the interior of the line. Kruetz stinks at this point. Garza just takes up space. This team needs a potential star at the LG position.
  7. 5 teams ran the ball more than they threw it this year. Those were the Jets, Titans, Bengals, Browns, and Panthers. Most teams weren't even close. Only 2 of those teams had winning records, and 3 of those teams were in the top 5 rushing teams. So, unless you are really really good at running the ball or have QB situations as bad as the Bengals, Browns and Panthers should you even try to run consistently. The Bears don't figure to be either.
  8. The same could be said about the Colts, Chargers, Saints, hell even the blue collar steel curtain Steelers pass a lot. So, that's not a bad thing. I do worry about the pressure on the OL with all the longer drops. I do worry about Martz seemingly disregarding the value of protecting the ball.
  9. I think the Chargers will go after a RB in the 1st round. Maybe a Ryan Matthews? I think they will bring in a veteran RB, but not a high profile guys like Thomas Jones or Westbrook. Maybe a guy like Buckhalter who is not a real threat to the draft pick. Though, I think Chester Taylor would be the perfect fit for that offense. They could go after Taylor and then wait til the 2nd/3rd for a RB.
  10. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/ct-spt-0228-bears-free-agnecy-combine--20100227,0,6125465.story I think signing Manu could have more effect on Dez Clark's future. Olsen has too much talent just to disgard for what could be 1 year of Martz and will be 1 year left of Clark. Dez missed 5 games last year and was a non-factor in all but 4-5 games last year. He'll be 33 when the season starts, and doesn't have much left. I know Olsen hasn't shown anything great, but he is talented enough as a receiver on a team devoid of elite talent at WR to find a place in the offense for him to get 50-60 balls.
  11. Who knows, but each city is different. Chicago hasn't tried to get big named FAs, and they are certainly different to sign with than Cleveland or Green Bay. Kind of a trick question. Of the cold weather/outdoor teams, the Bears, Steelers, Packers, Patriots, Ravens, and Giants aren't big players for big-time FAs from other teams because they build thru the draft and typically have been good at it. Cleveland, Cincy, KC, and Buffalo have been pretty bad in recent history and aren't attractive to FAs. That just leaves the Jets, Broncos, Eagles, and Redskins. The Jets get plenty of big named players, but they traded for Kris Jenkins, Braylon Edwards, Thomas Jones, Lito Sheppard, and Greg Ellis; and they've signed cold weather guys like Faneca, Leonhard, and Bart Scott. The Eagles aren't big FA players either, but they have signed a few players from other cold weather teams also (Samuels, Sean Jones, Andrews, and essentially Jason Peters). Denver signed a couple of Eagles last offseason. So, I think it's more coincedence than anything a warm weather player hasn't gone to these places. The Redskins have signed DeAngelo Hall and Haynesworth in the last couple years for ATL and TEN respectively.
  12. Damn. I wanted the Big Ten to do well this tournament (hoping for MSU, Purdue, OSU in Final 4). Purdue is in trouble w/o Hummel. Maybe Sweet 16 max.
  13. I'm done drafting.
  14. I will never like the Steelers! I do tolerate the Pirates though, because they are harmless. Penguins, I like, but not at the expense of the Blackhawks.
  15. I'm pretty indifferent on Peppers. $40 Mil is a lot of money to guarantee any player that's not a star QB. I'm pretty sure Peppers is NOT worth it, but he would do great things for this defense. Even if he doesn't put up 10-15 sacks, he may be able to rejuvenate Urlacher and Harris and greatly improve the defense by himself. I would much rather spend on an OG, but he's better than any UFA on the O-line.
  16. The Chicago Bears are gearing up for a major run at Julius Peppers, a league source said Tuesday, and Aaron Kampman also is an option for a team that's intent on landing a pass-rushing defensive end this offseason. http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d8168c92c&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true
  17. Yes, he was drafted as a CB. The positives for Rolle is that he is a good tackler, has shown the ability and range to be a strong FS, is a ball hawk, can man up against a WR or TE in a 3 or 4 wide set (since he is a former CB), has great speed, and is just 27 years old and is still getting better. The negatives for Rolle as far as the Bears are concerned is that because he has those abilities and is so young that he will likely seek a contract making him the one of the top 3 highest paid safeties in the game. There will be a ton of competition for Rolle. There's about 15 teams that desperately need a FS. Many of those teams are close to being Superbowl contenders. So, the Bears will likely have to compete with Miami (his hometown), Giants, Eagles, possibly the Jets, Texans, possibly the Saints (if they can't agree w/ Sharper) to name a few. I don't think the Bears would be willing to compete with the money that will be thrown Rolle's way, but he'd be worth it.
  18. Chris Heisey-OF Cincinnati Reds I wanted Freeman!
  19. Josh Bell 3B Baltimore Damnit that was my pick! It'll be morning before I can pick if the next pick comes tonight.
  20. Mike Montgomery SP, Kansas City Royals
  21. Yeah, I can trade. I guess that's what I can look to do. Other than those guys I named, my team sucked! Kerry Wood, AJ Burnett, Carlos Delgado, Carlos Quentin.
  22. Problem is we can't drop players.
  23. So, apparently I really suck at roto style leagues. In a 10-team dynasty league, I've finished 10th then 9th. But now, I find myself with a nice looking group of keepers and the #2 pick. We get 5 keepers, plus anyone we drafted in the last 2 rounds (if they remain on our roster) for 3 years. My first 3 keepers are: Hanley Ramirez, Matt Kemp, Evan Longoria. After that, I have to decide on keeping 2 of: Matt Holliday, Kendry Morales, Joe Nathan, Justin Verlander, Jon Lester, and Victor Martinez. Any advice? I also have David Price and Joey Votto as my last round keepers from a couple years ago.
  24. I'll help w/ the Steelers.
  25. Starlin Castro is on my roster twice. Looks like he was created but he is in the database too. I can't drop.
