  1. Again, he's here for his punting inside the 20. He's been one of the best in the league for about 4-5 years at getting punts inside the 20. Maynard has been a very good fit for a team that has needed to win the field position battle to win games. That being said, I'd definitely bring someone in to challenge him next year.
  2. How many WRs do you start? You have 4 solid WRs. 2 of which have already had their BYE weeks, so you should be fine at WR. If he wants Bowe fine, but I'd probably get something other than a WR. Maybe get the LB and the draft pick? Edit: That being said, I'd probably do the trade anyway, if LBs are that important to your league. Bess is an upgrade from Bowe anyway. He's on pace for 84 catches and 1000 yards.
  3. Agreed. Beating Ryan Miller in Buffalo after he was given a 2-0 lead in the first 3 minutes is quite the accomplishment. The stars started to show up last night too. Keith, Toews, and Kane were pretty good.
  4. Ben is back this week. Dixon was put on IR so none of them will be cut.
  5. Surely that would only be a possibility at this point if Hanie got hurt and Cutler wasn't cleared to play this Sunday. If Cutler is back, it's time to part ways with Collins and bring back Lefevour if he's still available. He showed me a decent enough arm, mobility in the pocket and an ability to hit an open receiver in preseason. I think he'd be fine as a 3rd QB, and hope they never get to the point of needing a 3rd. That or find someone else on the waiver wire that is mobile. Collins is just a trainwreck with this offense. LeFevour is not available. He's the Bengals 3rd QB. Off topic, but I think it'll be interesting if Carson Palmer continues to struggle. Do they bench him in favor of his little brother? That would be pretty funny.
  6. OFF because of Cutler's status I'm assuming. I'd probably take the Bears with the points this week if Cutler is playing. Yeah, has to be about his status. I wouldn't give up any points if it's another QB. I'm not a gambler by any means, but I think if you think the Bears are going to win, you have to take the points with whichever QB if the spread is 3 or under.

  8. Some really good early games that I won't get to see because the stupid Steelers/Browns game will be the only one on here. Of course, I'd really love the Bears game to be televised, but I'd settle for NE/Balt, Philly/ATL, Miami/GB, and Houston/KC.
  9. None. In May, 2009 Forbes had Fisher and Lovie Smith as the highest paid NFL coaches ($5.5 mil). I think Saban is close to the highest paid college coach at $4+ mil a year. Lovie was near the top a couple years ago, but I believe he was surpassed by a few guys since then. Shanahan is at the top at 7.5M according to forbes Didn't think about Shanahan. The article from Forbes I found was from early 2009 and I figured it'd be outdated. It was the latest I could find quickly, though. Pete Carroll got 6.5Mil also, plus they are paying Mora 12 Mil not to coach. Belichick also gets 7 Mil.
  10. Shanahan is at the top at 7.5M according to forbes It's been reported that Cowher wants 8-10Mil to coach somewhere next year. Gruden wants big money too.
  11. Yeah, man. The stuff about Peppers taking plays off was greatly exaggerated. Even Superman didn't stop every crime.
  12. Maybe cross country trips matter, but I think for the most part if you're getting on a plane to play another game, whether it's 1:00, 2:00 or 4:00 there isn't much of a difference. They aren't travelling by rail or on some cheapo airline. I do think it's an advantage for a team to be playing back to back home games in that situation. But I'm not sure if history supports that claim. True. Historically it is tough for a team to travel cross country and win, even with a full week. But it doesn't seem very efficient for a team to play a 1:00 game on Sunday, have a day off, practice Tuesday, travel Wednesday for walk-thru, then play Thursday night. Seems like it could be a lot better.
  13. I know it's a short week, but it's a short week for Miami too. Yeah, but it's one where they don't have to travel. They are home the week before and home Thursday. That's got to be a lot easier. Also, if they don't want to change the bye weeks, a good idea would be to make division games or short travel games on Thursday nights. The Bears shouldn't go any further than Cleveland or Minnesota, screw this Miami and San Fran stuff. Edit: for traditional Thanksgiving games (Dallas and Detroit), you can make an exception for 1 of the games. Or else it would be Dallas vs. Houston or NO every year.
  14. Dungy, Gruden and Cowher are almost certainly not going to coach at the collegiate level – no matter the prestige of the school. Especially not since almost any NFL team would hire any of the three in a heartbeat. I'm not so sure that is true of Gruden. I don't think it's true of Dungy either, as he seems to be a guy that values teaching/mentoring kids. But you are going to have to pay any of them NFL money ($10Mil/year) to coach.
  15. I hate Thursday night games more than Monday Night. Everybody should get to have their bye the week before a Thursday game. Agreed. The only "problem" is bye weeks are nearly over when Thursday games start. That obviously can be changed, but I'm sure Thursday games are more popular later in the season ($$$), so I don't see that happening.
  16. I think that Miami game is potentially the hardest on the schedule. Short week, on the road, good team, after facing another good team. Of course I thought the same thing about the Thursday nighter in SF last year and the Bears were 1 of 5 INTs not being caught from winning that game.
  17. I agree with the sentiment. There's no good reason to lose to Seattle outside of the state of Washington in a 10am game their time.
  18. Just finished 2nd in my roto league. It's a dynasty league. We can keep any 5 players each year (count as your round 1-5 picks the next year) and also we get exemptions for players drafted in the final 3 rounds (23-25) if they stay on your roster all year. Get to keep your 23-25 rounder for the corresponding pick in the next year. Then it goes to 17-19 in the next year. And then 7-9 round in the year after. So, right now I have: Price- eligible to be kept for 7-8 rd pick Votto- eligible to be kept for 7-8 rd pick Hanley Ramirez Longoria Wainwright Lester B Phillips Broxton B Wilson Oswalt Dunn I can keep 5 and both Price and Votto, but lose what will be my 2nd and 3rd picks in the draft. Or I can keep 5 with Price as one of my 5 and keep Votto for my 2nd rounder. Or, I have been offered ARod and Werth for Longoria. Which i could take, keep both, and either 2 or 3 more players.
  19. That's a horrible reason to root for the Yankees. Everyone does not hate them. People everywhere love them. You can find Yankees crap everywhere. I agree with your assessment of Red Sox fans, and I could see rooting for the Yankees over Boston right now. I guess it wasn't obvious, but I meant everyone who's not a fan (I assumed that was implied because we are 99% Cubs fans here) hates them, there's no in between. Yeah, but they have a ridiculous number of pseudo and fairweather fans around the country and world. True. But of real sports fans, the Yankees and Cowboys are the 2 teams that everyone either loves or hates.
  20. What channel is the game on tonight? What about Saturday?
  21. easily my least favorite sports team of all time...but they were good That's funny. If I have a 2nd favorite team, it would be the Avs. When the Blackhaws were down, I barely followed hockey, I only watched during the playoffs and I really enjoyed watching Roy, Sakic, and Forsberg play.
  22. Not really. I think IU is a clear eighth-best at this point, which is promising progress. Any higher than that would be really, really difficult. At this point I just want to finish .500 overall and wherever that puts us in the Big Ten standings, so be it. NIT OR BUST! :stickman: 6-12 (+ a BTT win)might get it done. The bad teams in their nonconference are REALLY bad. Yeah, the non-conference should allow IU to be .500 if they win the games they should.
  23. It's kind of weird that in what was probably his best year (2008) he gave up 10 home runs (out of 40 hits) in 87 1/3 innings while in 07, 09 and 10 combined, he gave up 6 home runs (out of 124 hits) in 221 innings. Other numbers for Marmol from 2008: .171 BABIP, 11% LD% and an 11.8% HR/FB. He was giving up about the same number of extra base hits but a few happened to go out of the park instead of staying in as doubles. Friggin Nate McLouth. Actually, 4 of his last 12 HRs allowed have been vs. the Pirates.
