  1. Is this a serious post?
  2. Brett Jackson getting his Adam Dunn on. 2 BBs, 2 Ks, 1 HR in 5 PAs. Rizzo RBI double vs. LHP. 3-5, 2 runs, 3 RBIs. HR away from the cycle. 2 people get on, he gets a shot for it....though I'd imagine he'll be taken out of the game with a 12-2 lead.
  3. Jay Jackson up to minute stats: As a starter: 9.23 ERA, 4.5 BB/9, 14.2 H/9, 1.8 HR/9, 7.0 K/9 As a reliever: 1.86 ERA, 2.8 BB/9, 7.4 H/9, 0.47 HR/9, 10.3 K/9 Seriously, he needs to never start again. He's not a good enough or so inexperienced that he needs innings at this point. Something may be able to be salvaged with him in relief.
  4. Smokies shutout on a 2-hitter. Lake and Adducci with singles (Lake promptly thrown out trying to steal). The guy I hyped up has gone in the tank. Jae Hoon Ha 0-21 in his last 5 games. 2 for 37 in his last 9, with 8Ks.
  5. Baez with two 3-pitch Ks today. Is it weird that he only has 1 double? You'd expect someone with the power he has shown so far to have more doubles. I wonder if he's a little pull happy right now and not using the middle of the field and shooting the ball gap to gap.
  6. Role reversal last inning. Jackson went deep (opposite field). Rizzo struck out swinging.
  7. let the hype begin. Already has
  8. 2nd walk by Jackson loads the bases. 0-1, 2 BBs, and a you know what? Amezaga cleared the bases with a double. Rizzo drove him in with a single.
  9. Thanks for giving me props, but I don't think I brought it up, just talked about how strong the MIF group is. My analysis of your analysis... I think you're a little rough on the catchers. Castillo makes that a C- to D+ grade, IMO. The rest of that group is terrible, but you do have a guy in Castillo, who I think could potentially solidify the C position for the Cubs for a little while in the very near future. I weigh that pretty heavily. I think you're a little generous on corner IF. Rizzo is big-time. Candelario apparently has big-time potential. But after that I'm not too impressed. Shoulders doesn't project long-term to me. He's young enough and walks and hits for power, but he has also struck out in 37% of his ABs so far in his career (almost 1/2 this year) and that doesn't project to get much better, IMO. I really like(d) Vogelbach, but him not being past Mesa at this point isn't encouraging. I'd probably have this group at a solid B. I think the grade is dead on at MIF. Baez is a potential star, and I wouldn't take him out of SS just yet. Don't know much about the AZL guys, but I think every other player on that list of MIFs could eventually be contributors in the majors, and it doesn't take much for a MIF to be an above average player. I actually really like the relievers in the system. I think you get a couple mainstays at RP between Beliveau, Dolis, Hatley, Zych, Rhoderick, Cabrera, and even Jackson and Struck who you mentioned. C is probably a decent grade because after all, they're just relievers, but I would be tempted to put that group in the B- range.
  10. Gotta love the middle IF guys. Those last 4 you named, Lake and Baez is a pretty strong group, especially when you consider Barney and Castro are in their pre-arb years also. Throw in Jackson, Almora and Szczur all being capable of playing CF, if the old adage is true about being strong up the middle....the Cubs could be in really good shape in the future.
  11. This is his 11th game at 3B this year, 25 at SS. He's heated back up with the bat too. .444 over his last 9 games with 3 walks and only 4Ks. The walks are significant because I don't think he had more than 1 over the 2 weeks before this stretch.
  12. I think your interpretation of the posts on this board are a little off.
  13. I've always felt that Vitters would "hit" enough to make it. I know he hasn't put up a huge average anywhere, and he hasn't put up big power numbers, but I feel that he could put up league average offensive numbers. .270-.280 average, slugging in the mid-high 400s, but only get on base 32-33% of the time at best. Those wouldn't be horrible numbers IF he fields his position well enough or if the Cubs didn't already have guys like Castro, Soriano, and Barney who don't get on base enough.
  14. I thought in past years it went FSL AS Break, MWL and Southern League pretty close to MLB AS Break (like within a few days). PCL AS Break same as MLB. I'm probably wrong though.
  15. Why is the Southern League off? I thought their AS game was same time as MLB.
  16. Jackson strikes out swinging a lot. And on 4 pitch ABs a lot. His first K was 4 pitches and he swung and missed at all 3 strikes.
  17. I was thinking more like a contending team that's getting nothing at 2B, but may have a young OF that's fighting for ABs or a starting pitcher that's stuck in long relief due to rotation depth.
  18. And his OPS goes over the .800 mark.
  19. How do you get hit twice in the same inning?
  20. turner's k/9 tell me that he'll never be top of the rotation. i mean, doesn't a serious ace-prospect have to be at least over 9 at every level? i mean, that's a minimum requirement. if you can't strike guys out, you can't dominate. if you can't dominate, you're back-end. Greg Maddux says Hello, as do several HOF pitchers from the early 1900s (Walter Johnson included). So ''several'' pitchers in the history of baseball, pretty compelling evidence there. HOF = Hall of Fame. Do you really want me to go thru the names? Or are you ok now?

  22. LOL. Makes it sound like you have the ability to hear the spin and break of the pitch.
  23. Not at all
