  1. The ol' pulling right tackle!
  2. Saint Louey! Really?
  3. Ballsy call Lovie. Sorry, I'm on a delay watching online.
  4. That's Ashlawn to you!
  5. OL getting their asses kicked. Max protect Tice.
  6. WEbb is a [expletive] joke.
  7. I didn't get that either. Would have put extra pressure on the defense, but you're talking about a difference of only 15 yards (starting at 40 vs. 25 w/ toubchback) against an offense that didn't have a 60 yard drive all game. Worst case was go down 13-0, still a 2 TD game. Best case, you get a recovery and a very short field.
  8. At first glance, I like the list. Some non-Paniagua questions (as I'm not sure what I'd do with him either) - 1. Minor curiosity on the placement of some of the prep arms, like Maples, Underwood, and Blackburn. Curious what your thinking is with Blackburn leading the pack there, and at a relatively high spot. 2. Bruno does seem a bit high there, and I like him a lot, but he's the type of guy that's going to have to, for me, prove it at each level (again ... I like him a lot). Although, I do think he'd make my top 30 relatively safely (say, 22-27 range). 3. On the flip side, Ha seems a touch low. I've never been the biggest Ha fan, but hot ending, solid tools, and by all accounts, is looking like a potential premiere defensive center fielder. I like to balance pure talent, actual results, ceiling, floor, and likelihood of reaching ceiling. To me, Bruno has about as high of a floor as anyone below AA. And I think his likelihood of being at least a Mark DeRosa type player is pretty good. And that's not a horrible ceiling to have. As for the pitchers, Blackburn and Underwood are younger than Maples by 2 full years, so I went with them higher. And frankly, I only picked Blackburn over Underwood because he was drafted first. The results were about the same this year. Size and age are about the same. Funny, that I think I'm one of the biggest Ha fans here. But I don't know that I could put him much higher. Maybe switch him and Bruno, but I think that's elevating Ha 2-3 spots too many and doing the opposite to Bruno 2-3 spots.
  9. Yeah, thru 2 games I've been impressed with the d-line. They aren't as bad as I thought, however they do need to play the run better. Oline, tight end and LB seem to be the weak spots on this team The DL's job isn't to defend the run, per se. It's to get up field and allow the LBs to make plays. Which leads me to my 2nd point. How are LBs a weak spot? And third, who cares that TE is a weak spot? TEs are overrated by the Patriots and Jimmy Graham's successes. The team that won the Superbowl last year had some of the league's least talented TE group. Basically, the Bears can get away without drafting a single LB or TE next year and still be a very good team. First off, to this point our LBs have looked average. Between age and injuries, it's a position that is slowly getting worse. Regardless, cover 2 doesn't work with a slow, hobbled middle LB. Zone coverage and 2 man will continue to be played against us if we cannot learn to hit the receivers playing in the slot or being able to utilize the TE to keep th defenders honest. Kellyn Davis cannot block and is very average. All defenses will do is double cover Marshall and wait for the force pass from Jay. It's like you only watched the Colts game. But the LBs were fine in the Packers game. Hell, Briggs was great with 10 tackles and a pass deflection, and was generally all over the field. Urlacher had 8 tackles himself, and looked a lot better than Week 1....when he played 1/2 a game. And it's not like the TEs are not being used. TEs were targeted 8 times vs. GB, only 2 catches, but Davis caught the only TD. Only 2 targets in Week 1, but wasn't necessary as they were able to do whatever they want getting the ball to the WRs. Bottom line, it's not necessary. The Bears offense was on the verge of being pretty good when Cutler got hurt last year and they were completely disregarding the position.
  10. Not sure if this is OK to talk about since the season is still going for a couple teams, but I'm looking to deal soon after the season ends. Edwin Encarnacion will be available. 6th highest scoring hitter this season. Eligible at 3B and 1B Adrian Gonzalez will be available. Eligible at 1B and OF. In a down year for him, still going to finish top 30 for hitters. Chase Headley. Huge season (10th highest scoring bat) in Petco. Possible to get traded to anywhere, which will be more hitter friendly. One of Adam Wainwright or Zach Greinke will be available. Wainwright is another top 30 at his position, coming off of a season off so could be better next year. Greinke has even better stats and has the opportunity to go anywhere he wants this offseason as a FA. For those not able to take on many points...Troy Tulowitzki could be available. 150 points this year. Perennial top 2 scoring SS. Would take an exempt player, good prospect or high pick to get him as I can easily fit him into my points cap.

  12. Leave DJ alone. He's a good person. Was my first follower on Twitter. Followed me immediately after I started following him.
  13. Who are your other RBs/WRs? Who was his other QB? A team in my big money league last year basically lost because she (yes, a girl) hoarded Rodgers and Cam Newton, because it is a keeper league and she didn't want to lose Cam for this year. So, she sat on both QBs and had the 4th highest scorer on her bench all year. So, it makes some sense on his end to trade Rodgers if he has a stud backup. But I would have thought he could get a lot more than Bush and Bowe.
  14. I've read plenty of message boads and comments on articles from people wanting to let Campbell play or let Cutler walk after the season. Bottom line this is not a Jay Cutler problem. This is an OL problem. He got sacked 7 times. This is a coaching problem. The OC called 80%+ of pass plays with 5+ step drops, with very few max protection schemes. The bump was probably a little over the top, but it's the same thing as a pat on the butt or the head after a negative play. And it was over after that. It's not like they kept arguing on the sidelines like the famous Peyton Manning vs. his OL video.
  15. Exactly. And the biggest issue is that Cutler even had the chance to get mad that Webb couldn't block Matthews 1-on-1. WE all knew he couldn't going into the game, yet the coaching staff had him do so on nearly every pass play.
  16. RG3 had 2 rushing TD's on Sunday. Also, I completely forgot about Fred Mitchell. Wasn't sure if Spiller was going to get a bulk of the carries moving forward, or what. Oh yeah he did, I don't know what I was thinking. But Rodgers will throw for 30+, run for 5-6. RG3 will run for 10 and throw for maybe 20. Rodgers will more than make up the points.
  17. Kneel downs should really be counted better statistically for the NFL and fantasy. It's stupid to give a guy -2 yards rushing for a kneel down. He's not actually trying to run the ball.
  18. Hell no. You're giving up the best 2 players in the deal. Spiller is going back to the bench in a few weeks. Rodgers will get his share of rushing TDs too. Maybe as many as RG3 (who has none right now).
  19. I'd imagine this is how most lockerrooms are. The QB is always put on a pedestal. I personally know a couple NFL players, both defensive players, and neither has ever really talked to his team's QB(s). There's really no reason to if you aren't going to hang out. The O and D have separate meetings, one is always on the field when the other is on the sidelines. Maybe you have WRs and DBs, RBs and LBs, OL and DL who are friends and hang out, but they go against each other every day in practice, face-to-face. A CB and CB really never engage unless it's a CB blitz, and in that case, it's not like they're sitting around talking between plays like WR/CBs can do outside the hashes. We know from past statements that Urlacher and Cutler don't really talk. And Urlacher wasn't exactly the biggest fan of Jay when he got here either. And if you don't know a guy, the only thing you have to go off of is the perception of him by the media or other teammates. DJ Moore is watching the same crap we are questioning Jay's leadership. He watched it after the NFC Championship game when Jay got hurt. Until he leads the Bears to something of significance, this is pretty much how it's going to be. It's how it was for Eli until he won.
  20. C'mon now. That had to be a pretty tough play to call, even standing right there. His 2nd foot barely touched turf, and I'd guess the ref couldn't see the carpet shooting in the air. You probably only saw it on slow motion replay yourself. But overall, yeah these refs suck. They can't even figure out where to spot the ball half of the time.
  21. I thought it was 7 and 7, but it really doesn't matter either way. Get your 14 and we'll see what happens. Maybe the 4th time is a charm for me??? You're a regular Jim Kelly.
  22. The best 2 players on the Bears OL last year (that played more than 1 full game) were Chris Williams and Edwin Williams. Both at LG. The Bears are on their 2nd LG, but neither of them has been named Williams. I feel like I am blind or stupid or something for somehow seeing this while the coaching staff hasn't. Maybe they see something in practice everyday, but I don't see how minimal contact practices are more proof that someone can/can't play than actual games against real opponents.
  23. Well, given what happened last Sunday, it was pretty bold that Brandon Marshall would be held without a catch for the first 50 minutes of the game on Thursday. The Bears put up 40 the previous week on a team who gave up 30 to the Niners, but could only score 10, seven of which came after the game was basically over. In the NFL, there is still a decent homefield advantage. The Bears are at home and are clearly a superior team on paper. There's really no reason they shouldn't win this game. Whether they cover the spread or not doesn't really matter to me. I wouldn't bet on it either way, if I was a betting man, because of Thursday....but the Bears should win this game, fairly decently. If not, this probably isn't a playoff team and doesn't deserve to be.
  24. I did pick the Saints to beat the Skins last week, but I picked them to lose today, and I predicted a 6-10 record from them this year.
  25. Eh, I'm not too worried about the Rams. The last 2 years when the Bears OL has been beat up like they were on Thursday, they've been fortunate enough to see a poor run D next on the schedule, allowing them to "dumb down" the offense and still win. Both times, it's been Carolina coming to town, but this year it's the Rams. Not saying the Bears are going to run for 200+ like they did vs. Carolina each of the last 2 seasons, but I'd expect an offensive game similar to those games. Bush gets 20-25 carries. Balanced attack with a lot of short, quick throws. Defense should be able to stop the run and get some pressure on Bradford. I'd be surprised if the Bears win by less than 2 TDs, but I don't expect it to be as pretty as the Colts game.
