  1. Vogelbach starts getting Joey Votto comparisons as he puts up a .311/.423/.498 line between high A and AA. Down side is his HR numbers, still hover around 15-18, but he puts up over 30 doubles. He also gets some non-disasterous reps in LF. Shawon Dunston Jr steals 50+ bases at Kane County. Hits .300. Still no power. Yasiel Balaguert leads the MWL with 24 HRs. Stephen Bruno makes sure we don't forget about him and gets healthy and back to hitting in the .320s in AA. Arodys Vizcaino starts in the Iowa rotation and dominates to the tune of low 2s ERA, WHIP under 1.1 and sub .200 BAA. Cubs keep him in the Iowa rotation until they shut him down. Ryan McNeil is the star pitcher for Boise, leads the league in ERA, Ks, and BAA. Gets 2 starts to end year in KC at 19-20.
  2. FWIW, my order was/is Vizcaino, Candelario, Hendricks, Z is probably on deck for me. I don't know that I'll have Olt top 15 (which won't matter because he'll go next 2 here).
  3. Hendricks needs more love. I think he's more likely to contribute positively to the Cubs (now and future) than Mike Olt is at this point. Equally close to the majors.
  4. I don't understand how anyone can vote for Olt in the top 10. He's basically Brett Jackson at this point, with what we all hope is a more correctable flaw because it's something more concrete that has been blamed for his failures. But the bottom line is, he's still had failures. And a lot of them over the last year and a half. Vizcaino, Villanueva, and Candelario in that order. Like Aroldys' reports of his velocity being back. And even if he never starts a game again, he's got the potential to be a dominant late reliever.
  5. Yeah, I still think the Bears would need an additional edge rusher with Bennett. He's never been a 10+ sack guy. He's a pretty good all around guy though, probably give you about 10 sacks, as he has share a lot of time his entire career. But I'd like the Bears to find a potential 12+ sack edge guy at some point in the draft. Unfortunately, I don't think there are very many of those guys in this draft. If Emery finds a 12 sack guy this off-season he's a miracle man. I said, "potential". Even if he's not going to get there for a couple years. The Bears need to find a guy with elite edge rushing potential. As good as Bennett is, he's not an elite edge rusher. And Bennett, Wootton, Bass, Washington and McClellin is essentially the exact same group as last year, that didn't get enough pressure on the QB. And also, if they are going to go hybrid or 3-4, they'll need a guy that can stand up and rush the QB. Chandler Jones. Anyways, the entire Dline needs prospects. I like the reports on Hageman as somebody that anchor the line and provide the interior push. If you can sign Bennett or Jackson and couple that with a stud DT, then you're in business. Depdending on the amount of money/years they want to come back, the Bears have the making of a great interior DL already in house. Paea, Collins, Melton, and Ratliff along with an early pick like Nix, Hageman, DaQuan Jones, Jernigan, Aaron Donald has potential to be a really good interior. But with Peppers and Wootton this year, they were already 1 DE short. Cut Peppers and you need 2 guys, even if you bring back Wootton (which seems like a no-brainer).
  6. I think it's mostly raw skill. If a guy has skill, the team will scheme to make sure they get to the QB. Scheme isn't affecting McClellin's ability to get to the QB. McClellin's lack of talent is affecting his ability.

  8. The top prospects all seem to be pretty close. They all follow each other on Twitter. They seem to worship Baez. Almora has raved about him on Twitter. Vogelbach tweets to/about the top guys also.

  10. No, he has great power. Hit 17 HRs in 245 ABs in 2012. 10 for Boise in 143 ABs. That's big time power for a 19 year old in his 1st serious professional season (he did have 24 ABs in 2011). Not sure what happened in 2013 (almost exact same number of doubles and HRs as 2012, with twice the PAs), but there's plenty of reason to believe the power will come back. Still, even it doesn't, a guy who hits .290 ish with 18 HRs, and walks in 13% of his PAs is a really good baseball player still. John Kruk vs. Prince Fielder.
  11. I'd really appreciate it if you became a cardinals/IU/packers/pistons/redwings fan. Hey now! While you're at it, make that Heat over the Pistons. They're harmless.
  12. Michael Bennett can keep himself warm with the piles of money he will have.
  13. He's gonna be a great late round pick up by somebody. Was never really a fan. He just seems so anti-physical to me. He doesn't seem to have very much strength. Means not good in press coverage. Doesn't seem like a real good tackler.
  14. That is not a good rotation. Garza is the only one who you can be at all certain to provide above average production. It depends on what year it is. 2010, that's a solid rotation.
  15. FWIW, Jeremiah (JAY) Ratliff supposedly loved Pasqualoni (sp?) in Dallas, where he played NT in that 3-4 defense.
  16. Agree with every word.
  17. He's so good at hitting, that if he had a position he'd be in the discussion for top 4. What about the fact that his OPS was 25th in the Midwest League last year? I get the theory that his bat would place him very high if he actually played well at 1B and that he did actually destroy AZ and the NWL, but if it is all about the bat, shouldn't the lack of dominance last year be a little disappointing? His number one goal, according to him and the FO was to learn to go the other way more, which they thought would result in a power decrease initially. Okay. But again, in order for this guy to make it he's going to have to hit like a beast, which means top of the list. He was 25th in OPS in the Midwest League. We know he can't field, we don't know how well he can hit. I think we need to see him at the top of the leaderboard. There's nobody else screaming to take his place here, but I'm looking to push him as far down as possible until he actually does dominate a full seaosn league with the bat. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=l_bat&lid=118&sid=l118 This shows 13th.
  18. Man I feel like Jimmy G would be a great fit for Trestman's offense....accurate, strong arm but doesnt throw the deep ball real well. Whats the consensus on his draft stock...3rd/4th round but trending up? Yep, that's about his grade right now. Could see him going bottom of the 2nd, but I don't think he gets out of the 3rd after this week is over. He's the perfect Trestman QB. Very quick release. He reminds me a lot of McCown, but much younger and more talented. Not sure how a QB with a quick release reminds you a lot of McCown. He's got a pitchers windup back there. I meant more of his style of play. Makes quick reads and gets the ball out or moves around in the pocket to make something happen. He's basically not going to take a lot of coverage sacks or force passes when he doesn't have to.

  20. Donald was listed at 6', 285 by Pitt's website. Typically these things round up. So, I was fully expecting, barely 5'11", 275-280. But he's basically 6'1", 288. Geno Atkins is 6'1, 293. Aaron Donald has been the best DL player in the country the last 2 years. The only thing keeping him out of the top 10 was size concerns. Based on practices, he's still plenty quick despite maybe adding a few pounds. He has the wingspan of a 6'3"- 6'4" player. He has the numbers. No reason he shouldn't be a top 20 pick at this point.
  21. Well that seems like just a bit of a leap, dontcha think? Yeah, but point is....there's no logic to removing it. I've heard "shorten the game" as a reason for no PATs, but that's stupid. There's a lot of things they could get rid of (hell kickoffs are almost more pointless at this point). Or they could simply give a team a 40-second play clock after the TD to kick the PAT. Would also cut out all the celebration as the guys would need to get off the field in a hurry.
  22. There's no logic to getting rid of the PAT. What's next, let's give a TD to teams that get 1st and 1 because it's almost automatic they score a TD in 4 downs.
  23. I think Erin Andrews clutched her purse mid interview.
  24. Pretty sure IU and Illinois will be this year. Illinois lost on the road. My bad. Point still remains.
