  1. I'm kinda shocked how fast the staff whipsawed from having Mitch throw or make RPO decisions on every play to rolling him out there with training wheels on. I think this is an even more alarming signal about Mitch than his performance in week 1. If there were any real mitigating factors to the week 1 performance, they wouldn't have drastically changed the game plan like this. Maybe they tune the run pass balance and take some of the decisions out of Trubisky's hands. But what we saw here is a game plan you would put in place if you had a 5th round rookie pushed into a starting role due to injury. It feel like a bit of capitulation on Mitch from the coaching staff. I hope I'm wrong.
  2. I guess I had never heard that process articulated before. His comments from last night just kinda struck me as odd, like his hands were tied.
  3. This whole thing where the ST coach tells Nagy a number for Pinero and he won't attempt kicks beyond that distance strikes me as incredibly bizarre. So if it was a 51 yard FG to win the game, they punt or go for it? What's the point on having this guy on the roster if you can't trust him to make a 51 yard kick in perfect conditions?
  4. GB sat in dime defense all game and Nagy had Trubisky throw it non-stop. I think they had something like 30 consecutive throws to end the game. It was stupid.
  5. In a weird way, Trubisky flaming out spectacularly might be a better outcome than a slight improvement and an ill advised 100 million dollar contract.
  6. That was probably one of the worst offensive gameplans I've seen in an NFL game. It was completely incoherent from a play calling and personal perspective. I think probably 95% of the fanbase knows what Trubisky is at this point, yet Nagy drops him back 53 times in a 1 score game? He hands the ball off 12 times. He goes for it on 4th and 10 like some kid playing Madden on tilt. Didn't attack the middle of the field to exploit Green Bay's weak middle linebacker crew. The offense was completely unprepared. They took two delay of game penalties on the same drive. Starts the game off with that stupid T formation horsefeathers which predictably ends in a fumble. The dive up the middle with Patterson was so stupid that I just sat there with my mouth hanging open. Literally every person watching the game knew that was going to be the play so I'm not surprised GB was all over it. I'm probably overreacting, but I'm shook but what I saw from him last night. Trestman's offense looked promising his first season too, I'm just saying. My hope that Trubisky turns into anything meaningful died last night. The only thing I could cling to was that he made some sort of leap over the offseason but he came out looking the same, if not worse. He looks overmatched mentally to me. Which makes it even more baffling that Nagy put the entire game plan on his decision making. The most frustrating thing to me is that I feel like they've done a really good job with this rebuild, but they picked the wrong QB and basically nothing else matters.
  7. I always thought this was an interesting comp for Trubisky. Like a premium Alex Smith.
  8. Boers and Bernsie reunion show today. Was pretty good. Abattacola called in. I guess he's waiting tables and slinging home security systems for ADP.
  9. He was really impressive to me because it's not like his plays were particularly well blocked, he just made the most of them. Also the little move he put on at the end of the screen pass allowed him to get the first down. Howard would have just plowed into the defender and got 18 out of the 20 yards. His TD run looked a little like a LeVeon Bell run to me. Not to harp on Howard, but he just plows into the line there and losses a yard.
  10. Anyone who wants to make the playoffs should care. We have a 3rd catcher who can't hit for a guy who has nearly a .800 OPS starting 38 games and has a .800 OPS since the break. Defense takes a major hit since now we have no legit back up SS and out best defensive 2B is gone. If Russell gets you triggered Blame Theo. If Theo is going to bring him back and give him 3M+ then he should be on the team as that money could been spent with the other money he wasted on Descalso and all the random BP guys he signed and who done nothing and got one good player rather than a ton of nothings. Oh no, this sounds really serious. Cancel the season.
  11. Who cares if he's our 24th vs 26th best player? This guy is human garbage and the Cubs should fire him into the sun.
  12. Packers cut Mike Daniels.
  13. This is pretty much exactly what was concluded on that video breakdown of Trubisky posted the other day. Worth a watch [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]That video kind of summarizes my thoughts on Mitch. I have no faith in him but a lot of hope. Agree with you. He's a baffling player. Who is better under pressure than they are with a clean pocket? I wonder how much of this is all the newness around him (receivers, scheme, etc). Kollman basically said he's best when he just lets it rip with confidence. My hope is that given this guy is by all accounts a very hard worker - as he gains confidence/comfort with his receivers and the system he'll do less thinking and more just playing. He couldn't do anything in that playoff game but when all the pressure was on him and he needed to put a perfect ball on Robinson to put them in position to win, he makes the throw of his life. Yet he's standing in a completely clean pocket in Miami and airmails a wide open Miller by 10 yards. Later that game he hits him in stride to put them ahead by a score with 3 minutes left. Just a baffling player, as I said. I'm really hoping that early in the season we'll see that he made a clear next step, otherwise, it's going to be a stressful season.
  14. 25 and already painting his head with shoe polish.
  15. That is actually...awesome.
  16. Was a wild game. The Raptors thought they had it won then GSW hits 3 consecutive 3's that barely move the net. Based on a picture I saw, Dreymond blocked that last shot. Sucks about Durant.
  17. Ha, I thought I remembered him having an anime avatar. Which is...not surprising.
  18. I'm so jealous - absolutely beautiful day.
  19. Maybe he asked her to take her wig off.
  20. Chain game so strong on that home run.
  21. Is making him live in Iowa almost worse than cutting him?
