  1. Yes, I'm pretty sure that I read that batting order is essentially meaningless.
  2. Exactly. People still show up and nothing will change. If they start getting 15K people to show up at the games, believe me, things will change. myth. Cut the Tribunes gate revenues by 58% and see if things don't chance Yup, things would change. Namely our payroll would be cut in half. That would show them. Nothing causes a team to start winning like losing money. I mean look at the Royals and the Pirates, no one goes and things change. The fans have sent their message.
  3. We actually have 2 capable backups this year: 1997 National Championship Brian Griese 10-5 as a starter Kyle Orton <--- never seen a 10-5 QB hated as much as Orton was most of last year. In our defense, he sucked and was the worst starter in the NFL last year. That isn't to say he didn't get good expeirence which will hopefully contribute to his development.
  4. K-town, Can you keep your trolling localized to the rivalries forum? Thanks.
  5. Are you being deliberately obtuse for some reason? This is mind boggling.

  7. Wow, Carrot Top is a monster.
  8. There are probably just as many people asking for gay jokes to stop. Obsessing over someone's sexuality is hyperbole. And of course fewer jokes would happen if Edmonds was a Cub. What kind of logic is this? So if group of bullies is making fun of a crippled kid, and another group of kids is telling them to stop, then you're going to lump the "good kids" in with the "bad kids", because they're just as vocal? What? In simple terms: Comment by mjohnson: "There are too many gay jokes" Rebuttal by Tiger: "Oh yeah, well there are too many people telling them to stop making jokes about him, too". Comment by me: If one group of people are acting like jerks, and asecond group of people tells them to stop acting like jerks, I don't think it 's fair to say that the second group is just as guilty as the first group. That isn't what just occurred. You have grossly misinterpreted TT's position.

  10. Most of this criticism of Cuban is petty and unwarranted. He's a great owner and it is undeniable that he's done a terrific job. I'd personally love to have the analysis that he applies to his basketball team, focused on the Cubs. In my mind, I'm not sure we could do much better.
  11. It could be argued that the Cubs would actually win in that senario.
  12. So does Barry break or just tie Ruth's record tonight?
  13. Have you read the first page of posts on "Baseball Discussions?" We're practially carrying torches and pichforks.
  14. I agree with the above. I don't think mediocrity will ellict change. It also won't win the World Series. We need change. Badly.
  15. This is sort of how I feel. Firing Baker would be great, but I don't have great confidence that the Cubs will hire the right guy.
  16. Bring a head sized paper bag.
  17. Wood, and the very slow momentum behind the Dusty/Fired story is about it. That the the next inevitable personel move, whether it's a big trade, minor trade, or another callup of a utility man. I hear we're in the market for a scrappy middle infielder!!!!
  18. Assuming we get our guys back, moving Maddux would give us the opportunity to give Hill and/or Guzman 'full' major league tryouts.
  19. He'd have to waive his NTC right? You think he wants to move around at this point in his career? I wasn't aware he has a NTC. My bad. Maybe he doesn't. I thought he did though. Well, now I'm really confused! Way to go!!!

  21. I'm hoping he can have a few more good starts to up his trade value. He could be our most valuable piece in the yard sale we're likely to have. Considering he's likely gone after this year, I'd like to get something for him from some contending team.
  22. Nothing lights my fire like some sweet sweet bunts. Edit: ALSO!@##!! MORE SLAPPY HITTING MIDDLE INFIELDERS PLEASE!!!
  23. Juan Pierre's head is the size of a tic-tac.
  24. Marshall has been much better than expected.
