  1. You can bet your life on it that that streak will end next week, though. I hope the Bears aren't looking ahead to next week, but I know I sure am. I'm only looking ahead in the sense that I'm still figuring out my ticket situation. I am very much focused on enjoying this upcoming Sunday. I'll be at the G-men game too. I'll be wearing a Bears hat. If you see me, knock my hat off and give me a hard shove.
  2. It's been real, Lance. I hope you enjoy your time with the Redskins more than Holdman did.
  3. This article makes me want to punch faces. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/couch/118987,CST-SPT-greg01.article
  4. The cable is out in my building. Looks like the Bulls have caught Bears Fever. Only complete beatdowns will be accepted.
  5. Donald Driver should go back to living in dumpsters.
  6. Awesome. I've seen Jerry Angelo twice right by my apartment. I've never said anything to him but next time I see him I'll probably give him a hug.
  7. Another bye week for The Beloved.
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9rNkPnk18M Thomas block and dunk.
  9. Let's not forget that on Steve Smith's 3 big play's, 2 of them had the corner slipping and falling down and the other Tillman was in position to make a play on the ball and it was just a great play by Smith to hold on. I'm not saying Steve Smith shouldn't be a concern, but I doubt we'd to Chris Thompson lining up on him.
  10. 8) Hard not to play Jones-Drew but I think these are the most likely TD scorers.
  11. They guy in the cube next to me is a jerk. That makes it ok for Pujols to be one.
  12. I don't get the homophobia aspect of this. Do people think Rex is a homosexual? I love the wild swings in emotion that people have based on one game. Last week it was "HOW MANY SUPERBOWLS WILL THE BEARS WIN? HOW MANY MVP'S WILL REX WIN?" The next week it's "OH MY GOD REX IS GAY. WE HAVE TO POUND THE BALL. WHAT ABOUT ORTON?" Seriously, those people are mouth-breathers.
  13. It did look like Brown had lost a step this year. Did anyone else notice this? Other than the scoop and score, he's been pretty quiet this year.
  14. Looks like it's Chris Harris to SS, if he's healthy. Not terrible as I think Harris' skill set fits better into SS than FS. Is McGowan off the PUP list yet? Or is he on IR?
  15. Brown injured again. Worse than I thought. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=2552
  16. I'm not really sure what Favre has to do with anything. Obviously, you don't want a quarterback who throws 30+ interceptions a year. But that's not what we're talking about unless you think Rex will throw 30 INT's this year. But you don't want a quarterback who takes no chances because he's afraid to turn the ball over. The "I'd rather go 3 and out and punt" is straight from the Dick Jauron handbook. That strategy can win some games but if you have one defensive breakdown, your sunk. Listen, I'm obviously not saying that Rex should play a game like he did against the Cardinals. That was one of the worst quarterbacking performances I have ever seen. What I'm saying is that you can, contrary to popular belief, take chances on offense when you have a good defense. Being "a game manager" isn't a good thing. Not to mention, the QB's people point to as "game managers", aren't "game managers" at all so I'm not really sure if such a thing exists other than Dilfer. You obviously don't like Rex, for whatever reason. Yes, he takes chances, yes he throws into coverage, but you have to understand that he has very limited NFL game experience. I believe that he will eventually learn what passes he can and cannot throw in the NFL. The Bears can win with a quarterback like Grossman.
  17. This is a Dustyesque rationalization of a negative statistic. No it isn't. They ran well last year. Have the same people + a healthy Benson. Have focused most of their offense on the passing game. Dusty has nothing to do with it. So they're really not trying that hard to gain yardage when they hand the ball off? No, they just aren't putting any sort of emphasis on the running game. Last year they would repeatedly go to the run, even when the opposition knew they'd run. Occasionally, they'd be stuffed for no gain, but they'd keep at it and rack up yards. This year, if they don't gain 10 yards on a run play, the next play is a deep pass. They averaged 40 more yards per game and a full yard more per rush, and that was against stacked boxes last year. They are clearly capable of running the ball well. I suspect they will as the season goes on. Didn't they have 150 yards rushing against the Bills? And a pretty good amount the game before too? It's true they don't seem to be running the ball as well this year, but it's not a total collapse. And last night was just being down by 20 points----teams generally must throw when they're down, though they don't have to throw all long passes into double coverage like we did. The issue is, if the Bears do not attempt to run the ball, then the play action fake becomes useless. The Bears have been very successful with the play action this year. They kept running it, late into last night, and it was pointless. Interestingly enough, when you only run the ball 13 times, the play action loses it's effectiveness.
  18. The whole "game manager" concept is wildly overused. It's becoming the new "smallball." Hey, everyone thinks this is what is going on so it must be!! We're calling Brady a "game manager" now? Brady has thrown for over 3500 yards the last 4 years and over 4000 last year. His last two years he has averaged 7.8 yards/attempt. Brady is playmaker not a game manager. Even Roethlisburger has a career y/a of 8.9. You know who had a higher yards per passing attempt than this "game manager" last year? If you guessed nobody, you would be correct. The reason these teams have success is because, when you have a good defense, and a quarterback who makes big plays, you can quickly demoralize a team. Look at the Bears' first 5 games. When a team scores quickly and has a defense that can get the ball back, things can get really ugly, really quick. Pairing a good defense with a game manager isn't necessarily the golden ticket to winning. Jesus, if you take one thing away from last night's game it has the be that Grossman DOES have some leeway because of the defense. He doesn't have to throw 6 yard hooks on every toss. If he throws a few interceptions, the Bears can recover from them because of the great defense. Going for big plays on offense while you have a great defense isn't a bad strategy.
  19. I liked what he said and his overall persona. After Dusty's stories, dudes, and excuses, Lou was a breath of fresh air.
  20. I hate this emoticon, but  He was asked about whether his players would hustle. He seemed to think it was a silly question. Oh. I guess I should listen to the presser for context. Thanks. I redirect my rolled eyes at the questioner It was Bruce Levine and it was an obvious shot at Aram.
  21. haha improves OBP by getting 8 midgets to walk all the time.
