  1. Definitely not overall. The Bears D is a beast. But the second half of the season y'all played poor offensive teams and gave up a ton of points. I showed you stats that showed that during OUR second half we played good offensive teams and gave up few points. Right now I think the Saints D is better. The stats prove that easily. no they don't. but your belief that they do prove you don't know much about football. How do the stats not prove this??? Look at your last 3 "real" games: You gave up 31 points to the 29th ranked offense in football! Then a week later gave up 21 points to the 22nd ranked offense. Then last week you gave up 24 points to the 19th ranked offense. Our last 3 "real games: 16 points to the 13th ranked offense, 7 points to the 14th ranked offense, then 24 points to the 2nd ranked offense. 2 of either Peanut, Vasher, or Todd Johnson were missing for all those games in question. I doubt you'll accept this as a reason though. You are the only one in the entire country who thinks the Saints have a better defense than the Bears and it's not because everyone else is wrong.
  2. Saints win 50-3 this weekend. Best Defense, Best Offense, and Best Special teams in the NFL. They didn't lose a single game the entire season.
  3. That's a ridiculous excuse. You think Urlacher or Hillenmeyer were like "well, we're already gonna be in the playoffs, so I'm only gonna play 80% today." These guys are professional athletes who love competition. If they are in the game, they are gonna be trying their best. The Bears had injury problems during those game and key players have come back from injuries since then.
  4. Are you really trying to claim the Saints defense is better than the Bears defense? Really? The Saints defense is obviously the weakpoint of their team. Total Yard rankings aren't a very good indicator of defensive performance. The Saints have generated only 19 turnovers over the course of the season (Compared to 43 for the Bears). They rank 22nd against the pass and 20th against the run according to DVOA (values successful plays). They aren't AWFUL but they aren't good either. They are slightly below average. This is like saying the Bears have a better offense than the Saints because they score more points per game. We both know it isn't true.
  5. I just wish the fluff pieces weren't getting mixed in with the game pieces.
  6. Actually the reports on Wood, Miller and Prior are positive! Man, I hope and pray Prior is healthy! http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070117&content_id=1780798&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc Not to be a rotten egg, but it is, after all, cubs.com... Translation: there will be no CF acquisition. Wow, the Cubs pumped the payroll way up and backloaded all their big deals, yet are still forced to lean heavily on a very sketchy rookie due to a money crunch. Wait til the really big paychecks come due in 2009. Could get real ugly unless the farm surprises everybody and produces a major contribution to the big team in the next 2 years. Where are you getting the bolded part of your post from what was quoted? Do you doubt for one second that Hendry wouldn't be seeking an established veteran everyday CF if there was money available to take on another big salary? The Cubs are 1000% in win-now mode and there's not a chance in hell Hendry is happy about relying on Pie after his dismal showing in winter ball. Hendry's spin that he's not seeking a veteran starting CF because he believes it's important to develop your own players is total BS. If the Trib gave him more money for it he'd be on the phone 10 seconds later making offers for a CF. Who is there out there for them to sign along those lines? Once you got past Drew the list was incredibly short of people that could potentially outperform Jacque or Pie. There's zero reason to believe that there's suddenly a "money crunch" just because they didn't throw piles of cash at someone for CF. Of course there isn't.
  7. He's going to tank. I don't know why everyone's excited to see him embarrass himself.
  8. They were 4-2 playing in the outside this year, and 6-2 overall on the road. I know. That's not what I'm talking about, though. Edit: What Banedon said.
  9. I doubt "Bears Weather" will have much impact on the game but aren't dome teams pretty bad playing outside, on the road, in the playoffs? I think the track record on that is pretty lopsided in favor of the non-dome team.
  10. Looks like you got rid of Stephen Jackson before he killed someone. That's pretty good...
  11. Brees could suck and the Bears are due....
  12. I don't find his reasoning to be particularly sound other than the home field stuff. Hopefully he's right. I figure it's probably a coinflip.
  13. Thats crazy. Thats like saying quarterback is even because Brees and Grossman are both capable of making big plays. There is a huge difference in the numbers between the two guys. I wouldn't go so far as to call it crazy. I would. The Bears have the best special teams in the NFL. They also have a returner who broke the NFL record for KR/PR TD's in a season. To try to claim that the teams are equal here, is basically ignoring the facts. Hey, Bush might return one Sunday and Hester might not, but going into the game the Bears have a pretty wide advantage in this area of the game. I'm not suggesting they are equal, they aren't. The Bears special teams is DEFINITELY better than the Saints. What I was taking issue with was that it's "crazy" to compare Hester and Bush as playmakers. It's not crazy. They are both highly capable of the big play, much more than the average return man. Fair enough.

  15. negative i dont know what this means, his k rate has gone up every year since 2003. yes, its already been acknowledged how incredibly smart you are. move on now. Easy there.
  16. Honestly, I doubt Z loves the Cubs enough to throw 40-50 mil in the trash.
  17. Maybe we should start a thread about perceived slights.
  18. There was never a problem with this thread in the first place.
  19. Why do you have to act so smug? Pretty funny considering he almost got a timeout for trolling in a Bears game thread not too long ago. But hey, better start another thread so he doesn't get "verbally attacked" in this thread. Bears fans just can't help themselves. Seriously, what a petty comment. Everyone has been discussing things fine in this thread.
