  1. Kenny Williams should be drug tested for even thinking that either one of those guys would be available for Pods, but then again, he wanted even more than that from teams for a 50 year old pitcher with $20 mil left on his contract. KW is really nuts or sky high! KW always swings for the fences in the early stages of a deal.
  2. What about a Pods for Cedeno move?
  3. I love the high mountain air in Colorado...that must be the reason for this outpouring of runs tonight. Whatever it is, let's keep it going!
  4. Let's hope we leave the crap play in steaming Houston and right the ship in the high altitude of Colorado. The good news is that the Brewers suck right along with us this week and we're still 1 measly game out. GO CUBS!
  5. But Murton's not going to play, and Stewart is a better option than Jacque Jones (assuming Pie takes over center field). Lou being stubborn about Murton doesn't make acquiring Stewart a good move, it makes firing Lou a good one. So you'd fire the 17th winningest manager in MLB history for a guy who has declined from last season? Don't get me wrong I really like Murt, but I don't see all the love people have for him based on his actual production. I'd much rather bash the Cubs for jerking around Pie.
  6. I've never felt this bad about a team that's a game out of first place.
  7. Okay, there are a number of very intelligent baseball people on this board, and one of you has to tell me how this team could have gone in the crapper this quickly?
  8. Does a strained oblique cause you to lose weight? If so, I might have to get one!
  9. I wouldn't mind it if it's Pagan. He's not a bench player, but there's no upside to playing him every day.
  10. I guess Ohman was pissed about being sent down...hey buddy, here's a hint, get guys out then!
  11. I disagree....Marquis was solid early this year when Z and the rest of the team were struggling.
  12. I'm not sure that's his doing....doesn't Lou make out the lineups?
  13. Nice to see D-Lee and A-Ram and the rest of the boys picking it up in Soriano's absence the last couple of days. I could half way excuse last night due to the travel and their pitcher's success at home, but this is pathetic.
  14. How did this entire team forget how to hit the last few days? I've never seem so much flailing away against mediocre pitching before.
  15. So we would rather play a 2B in RF than bring up a guy hitting .360+ who happens to have a plus glove and speed??? E-Pat won't even get playing time over Fontenot, so I just don't understand this move.
  16. Are you kidding me? He's been absolutely dreadful since the 06 All-Star break. I would have preferred to get a guy like Matt Morris to provide some insurance if someone in the back-end of the rotation falters down the stretch. Contreras is ready to hang them up, and I'm loving the fact the Sox have to pay him $10M next season!
  17. Heck, all they need to do is change the "We" to "Were" and they can still use the campaign for awhile. Did they really think that Cubs fans were going to suddenly become Sox fans because they played great baseball for two weeks back in 05 and won their first WS in 85+ years? Glad to see that the city of Chicago is right back where it belongs in Cubbie blue and red.
  18. We'll look back on this night in late October as we hoist the World Series throphy into the air and remember that we entered first place thanks to a wild pitch and didn't look back!
  19. Way to dig yourself out of a hole, Demp....Now let's go with a W and move into first!
  20. A - We really don't know that the Cubs haven't made a move yet. B - You seem pretty convinced that the Cubs are going to play .500 ball the rest of the way. I strongly believe otherwise. I'd ask you to wager, but I wouldn't ask you to root against them the rest of the way. That said, I see no way that the Cubs will hover around .500 the rest of the season. I dont understand how everybody can just forget the first 2 months of the season. They got on a hot streak, and Im glad but to totally dismiss the first 2 months of the season, when the team has gotten weaker at catcher, Marquis has remembered he sucks, and Hill is not pitching with the same dominance, CF is the same hole it was, and we are getting no power at all from RF, is absurd. Did you really expect the Cubs to bring in a new manager/coaching staff, 3 new starters, and two new position players, and suddenly get hot when they are playing in 40 degree weather? This is a different team than the one from April and May; one with the hottest pitcher in baseball, one with three healthy all-star bats, one that is getting solid play from a core of young players, and one that could get a nice boost when KW comes back this week. Sure, I would have loved to land Junior or Dye, but I'm still confident that we have more than enough to beat the Brewers for the division title. And then as the White Sox and Cardinals have proven the last two years, it's anyone's ballgame come the post season.
  21. I'd rather commend Hendry for giving us a Cubs team that has been the best team in baseball the past two months and will be a division winner this year...book it! And if you look objectively around baseball, there aren't too many teams who have the catcher position figured out.
  22. Yep, if only Howry would have made Jones slide. sliding wouldn't have made a difference. now slowing down around third and looping out like he was going into the dugout... Sure it would have...If JJ was running all out and slid head first, I bet he gets in before the catcher could apply the tag. We'll never know, because JJ was such a pud running around third.
  23. Well, I'll be dreaming of Junior tonight....in a Cubs uniform for tomorrow night's game! Night all....
