I remember the Cubs passing on Jim Thome because Hee Seop Choi was waiting in the wings. Perhaps they remember that as well. It would definitely suck to have an excess of talented players on the team. -
You do know they played together before and won a title with Anaheim right? We're putting the band back together. They'll definitely win it all again.

My nightmares of Randa being our 3b if Aram leaves can come to an end!! -
This is just my feeling but I think it was a combination of him being upset that Dusty left and Lou saying to Hendry " are you freaking kidding me - that is not going to be my lead off man!" Hendry has talked about Piniella having a "different idea" about bench guys, which I took as him not wanting to the uber-versatile no bat types, rather preferring guys who can actually produce a little. That might cost a little more than Hendry envisioned for the bench, which could rethink the amount of value he places on roles like "leadoff hitter" and other positions. Who thunk that up?? If Piniella has caused Hendry to change his philosophy on bench guys, get rid of Pierre and pushed him to resign Aram then his tenure is already almost more successful than Dusty's before he has managed a single game :shock:

I heard Holden Kushner on xm this weekend gushing about his newest trade idea: Sheffield and Andy Phillips for Bonderman. He was quite proud of himself. The next caller suggested maybe the Tigers should try to sign Bonds to which Kushner responded why would the Tigers want someone who is notoriously bad in the clubhouse, and in the cold weather of Detroit someone who is old and injury prone. Did I miss something :?

Let the hand wringing begin - hopefully it won't be followed by a year of Joe "the Joker" Randa at 3b for the Cubs. That might make me suicidal.

If that is Hendry's off season I would anticipate a revolt sometime before opening day. Anybody have thoughts on what Matthews Jr. will get for his 1 good year? -
Based on Hendry's last offseason I'll be suprised if we get even 1 of those 3.

If the Cardinals keep this same "great" pitching staff in 2007 they will probably be lucky to win 83 games again.

I copped this from somewhere (maybe even here), I keep it on my bulletin board but it's worth reposting. "It's designed to break your heart. I had the same thought like 30 seconds after the game ended................then I just thought crap......we probably aren't going to sign anyone good anyway :cry: -

According to MLB.com the game is still being delayed?? Are they actually going to start a game at like 10 pm central time??

What the hell is with the title? Look again? At what, how bad some of these guys are (calling Mabry mediocre is an insult to mediocrity). The fact that some are everyday players and some barely see the field? So Goony I guess you won't be joining my campaign to stuff the ballot for Mabry :wink:
