  1. But of course Bynum and Jones start. Wouldn't be surprised if Myers throws a no hitter tonight. Wow the excitement level is high here tonight!! Just checking in the 4th inning and I think I have the first post during the game. BTW Ramirez just broke up the no hitter in the 4th!!
  2. Larry Dierker's thoughts on somewhat of a similiar subject. http://blogs.chron.com/larrydierker/ I guess i gotta tip my cap to Vance on this one.
  3. Billy Beane has banned alchohol in both clubhouses at Oakland's stadium. http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/15533174.htm Doesn't sound like much fun to me but it did annoy the heck out of Ozzie :D
  4. How long does Dusty ride Z with an 11 run lead 110-120 pitches??
  5. Get Bynum in there - this guy is stinking up the joint!!
  6. The books not out on him yet either!
  7. This may have already been posted here but I thought it was kind of funny. http://raysindex.blogspot.com/2006/09/hangover-david-price-sweepstakes.html
  8. Listening to the post game questions for Dusty - while it would be nice to have a manager that cared more about obp, etc. My hope is that our next manager will use the word "big" quite a bit less also.
  9. Was this after the first out?? Yes Santo speculating that Riot got hit in the finger by the ground ball That's exactly what happened. Nothing major, but it looks like the ball caught him under the fingernail, seperating it a bit from the skin and causing him to bleed a lot. OUCH! It didn't look that bad on the radio
  10. Cubs win the series!! Doesn't do much for our chances of 100 losses though.

  12. You know that's not happening. Dempster will be in for the ninth. Howry still warming no sign of Dempster according to Pat.
  13.    Wow..................good call!!
  14. Did you say before or when it reaches 100 pages??
  15. They must have more speed and clog the bases less. They can really catch the ball. I saw John Kruk saying they "know" how to play the "game" today. Good pitching, fielding, and running the bases plus timely hitting. And if John Kruk says it you know it has to be true
  16. What the heck  We're replacing Gene Clines!!
  17. Wait. Is this the same team Favre just said was "the best I've ever played on?" No but it is the team he said may " have the most talent" of any I've played on.
  18. The Cubs have a 95 million dollar payroll. To be the second worst team in baseball with that payroll easily makes them the biggest bust in baseball.
  19. Abdominal strain. And Washington scores a touchdown against Oklahoma on the first play of the game. Syracuse up 7-0. I see a nightmare scenario developing here
  20. Drew Tate not starting for Iowa today - anyone know anything about that?
  21. Who says he's not fast? He's been successful in 83% of his stolen base attempts (5/6). In all honesty, he reminded me a little of Moises the other night when stealing 2nd. He may not be the speedster that Pierre is, but he picks the right moments and gets great jumps. I didn't say that correctly. He's not "fast" in the sterotypical I'm Dusty Baker or Joe Morgan and I haven't learned a single thing about baseball since 1974 mold. I know -- I was just busting your chops. I agree with you. I've got no disagreements with anyone sporting a Hawk helmet! You will after they lose this weekend! :sunny: Hey, I want fast, strong armed power hitting good IsoD guys that have a great clubhouse presence that sign autographs in the stands for hours after the game.

  24. I'm warming to the idea of letting Murton lead off but do you think their is a manager in baseball (outside of Francona maybe) who would let Murton do it? Given that collection, if there's a Manager who values having runners on base ahead of his 3,4, and 5 hitters, Murton makes the most sense. Doesn't he? A lead off hitter doesn't necessarily have to be fast (unless you're Dusty Baker), give me a lead off hitter who gets on and is a good base runner over a speed merchant any day. I agree with you - I'm just wondering if anyone would do it because he's not fast
