  1. Anyone else think it is kinda wrong that FSU can lose to Florida next week, win the ACC Championship game and make it to a BCS game with an 8-4 record?
  2. That would be great if Oregon lost.
  3. did stovall really just catch that?
  4. Bill S. Preston, esq.-Alex Winter Ted Theodore Logan- Reeves Anyone heard the rumors that B&T's 3 being made. They (rumors and actors) are kinda old, but apparently Winter is still working on a script. Might even be better than Rocky 6.

  6. Isn't that what happened two years ago? It's exactly what happened two years ago. Thanks to SC not losing since 2003, no one even remembers that technically LSU won that year's national title. They didn't win technically. They got the effin trophy. What does USC have to show they won it? I still don't understand why Auburn didn't get a split last year. It was the exact same scenario as '03. I hate USC. It was a much different scenario from 2003. In 03, the Number 1 team going into the title game (Oklahoma) lost, otherwise we never have this discussion. Logically the Number 2 team in the AP poll, which was USC, hopped past Oklahoma. In 2004, the Number 1 team in all polls going into the title game (USC) won, and won in absurdly decisive fashion, 55-19 over Oklahoma. What possible evidence was there that Auburn deserved to leapfrog USC after the title game was played? USC does have a National Championship trophy that was presented by the AP. They do have something to show they won a NC two years ago, it is just not from the NCAA-the one that counts IMO. Apparently the AP felt they were being slighted due to the fact that the NCAA disregarded their poll, since they removed themselves from the BCS formula. Ndistops- Auburn was voted #1 in one post-season poll. If you use USC's standards that is enough for a split championship.
  7. Smith already said he is staying with Orton for the rest of the season, right? Not as far as I know. He doesn't really answer the question directly when it's asked. He has dodged it repeatedly by saying that Kyle is the guy but that Rex is part of our team too. What can you expect him to say, though? "As soon as Rex comes back, Kyle will go back to the bench." Not likely. Can't do that to the guy who is starting right now. I think it's more of a situation where they'll cross that bridge once they get to it. I'm sure if Kyle is progressing, it'll be hard for them to pull him.. If Kyle has another stinker like the Cincy game (or even yesterday), you might just see Rex come in. Personally, I think this team's best chance to succeed is with Rex. Right now they're just getting by in spite of Orton. That's not to take anything way from him. He's doing what he's asked, generally doing what it takes not to lose. That won't be enough against the better teams, though. If Rex can stay healthy (we know that IF around here), he should be the future of this team. I could have sworn I read last week that Smith said he was sticking with Orton. Maybe I am wrong. I will try to find a quote if I can.

  9. I was there for that one. Absolutely terrifying, and the day I lost all faith in Bob Davie. 4th down for ND with about 8 seconds left. Rather than having Powlus(or a better idea, a QB with some mobility) run backwards then around in circles for 10 seconds, he has Powlus take the snap, step back about 4 yards, and DOWN IT WITH A SECOND LEFT. Davie was a moron. Called a safety blitz when ND is beating MSU with time expiring. I guess he didn't think MSU would try a deep pass to win the game. MSU goes deep and wins the game. Same year ball on the 50 with time running out against #1 Nebraska. Instead of trying to get some yards and kick a GW fieldgoal he opts for OT and loses. He once said the Rockne set the bar to high for other ND coaches. I guess winning is not the goal.
  10. Here is another one from the end of the half with the score tied. IMO that is one of the best football games ever played (that I can remember watching) http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a65/adamb0719/halftimePSU.jpgh Best game Ive ever seen was this years USC Notre Dame game, just an unbelievable game from start to finish. Yeah, that USC/ND game was most likely the greatest regular season game of all time. I consider myself very lucky that I got to go. The atmosphere was electric and everyone was pumped. It won't be like that again... until Notre Dame's in the 2006 national title game  I agree that it was one of the best. However ND/FSU in 93, the before mentioned PSU game, 88 ND/Miami all rank right next to that game IMO. I think ND/Miami is probably the best-better than the recent USC game. Same circumstances, same day (oct 15), but ND won-and they won the NC that year.

  12. That would be a hell of a good game. Was the last time those two teams played in the early 90's in the snow game? The Snow Bowl was indeed the last game between ND and Penn State. I was only six but I vaguely remember watching that game and my whole house flipping out when Mirer hit Reggie Brooks (his 4th option on that play) for the winning two-pointer. What a game that was. I have a poster that was given to me while at a luncheon hosted by the now infamous QB Club. It is a side view of this shot which is now framed and will never be taken down. My GF and I went rounds about the poster when we moved in together. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a65/adamb0719/GoalineGarner.jpg "The cold, the snow, black shoes, plain uniforms and a traditional rival. This is what football is all about. This is why we play the game."--Demetrius Dubose PSU/ND series 8-8-1.
  13. I just found this out. The order of selection for the Bowls this year is Orange, Fiesta, the Sugar. With that being the order and Texas/USC likely playing in the Rose, PSU will probably get into the Orange Bowl against Miami if they win the ACC, and ND will go to the Fiesta Bowl against who, I don't know. I was really hoping for a ND/PSU bowl, but it may not happen.
  14. Not sure if anyone noticed this, but two computer polls have PSU ahead of USC.
  15. 2000 was the blocked FG year, and it was Airforce, not Navy. I got that wrong earlier. 2002 was no hangover, IMO. It was a bad ND team being exposed after starting 8-0 on pure luck.
  16. And the only real team they played KILLED them
  17. I heard that Rutgers is on the list and I also heard that WV may be. I think the SEC is a tough conference but when they all play cruddy teams and go 3-0 and then play each other how are we to know how good they really are? That is a very good question. I think Texas is the same way this year. They are a good team, but they only decent team they played is OSU, and they barely won. TT is just too overrated IMO. Also the new BCS is out 1 USC 2 Texas 3 Alabama 4 Miami 5 Penn State 6 Virginia Tech 7 LSU 8 Ohio State 9 Georgia 10 Oregon 11 Notre Dame 12 Texas Tech 13 Florida 14 West Virginia 15 UCLA 16 Wisconsin 17 TCU 18 Colorado 19 Florida State 20 Auburn 21 Michigan 22 Fresno State 23 Georgia Tech 24 Minnesota 25 Louisville
  18. OSU is a four loss team. That UNC win was impressive, but not impressive enough to warrant them being a good team. Besides those teams they beat Cinncy, Pitt, FAU, Kentucky. With their schedule there is no reason for them to be a two loss team. WVU is the only loss that I think can be justified, but if you look at WVU's schedule it is a joke. Syracuse, Woodford, Maryland, UCONN, E Carolina, Rutgers. They got killed by VT, the only good team they have played. They are fifth in what is arguably the worst BCS conference. I just have a hard time believing they deserve more respect than they have. Why bring ND into this. They are not the only two loss team in the top 10. I personally think Louisville would lose to any team ranked ahead of them except maybe TCU. I brought ND into it as they are the highest ranked 2 loss team. Also, who has Alabama beat? Auburn? LSU? Other than the ever so tough teams in their own conference. At least Louisville and WV have played tough teams out of conference unlike the SEC teams that get so much repect and yet don't do well in the bowls year after year and Maryland, NC and VTech are tougher than any team an SEC has played out of conference to date. Auburn lost to GTech in the one matchup with a major conference. Tennesse always plays a tough out of conference and that is the team I respect out of that conference. I usually say that about the Big 12 but they did a decent job this year at least playing one good team. By the way, ND has promised to play 3 Big East teams a year from here on so we'll see how well they do! :D I agree the the SEC has weak non-conference games, but I kind of am OK with it since the conference is so hard to get through. It is not the deepest conference but the top teams are very good. By the end of the year they normally have just beat each other up and if a team does emerge undefeated or with one loss, they deserve a BCS game Also Auburn beat VT in a bowl last year, and LSU won the championship two years ago. The SEC does not do terrible when it makes it to a major bowl. The non-conference games the Big East schedules are tougher than their conference games IMO. If they did not do that I don't see the Big East getting any respect at all. Of course basketball is another story :D Do you know who ND is picking up to replace BC? I remember hearing Rutgers, but am not positive on that.
  19. Isn't that what happened two years ago?
  20. Not if you are a Cubs fan. It's all relative brah. Bingo. It's too bad you didn't get that point when you made your original post. It would have saved me the trouble of explaining it to you. So you're saying I'm right? Because yes, in the championship department, the Cardinals organization has been more successful, but this wasn't about which has been the most "successful" organization, its about the fact that Busch isn't as important or historic of a ballpark as Wrigley. Are you actually reading these posts or do you just like to tell yourself that everyone agrees with you? Just asking. The original post implied that it was stupid to cry about Busch being demolished, but it wouldn't be stupid to cry about Wrigley being demolished. I took issue with THAT. From a Cardinals' perspective, there's every bit as much reason (or more) to cry about Busch being demolished. Why? Because many of us have fond memories from that stadium. Some folks want to bring up the "memories of Babe Ruth", as if they remember sitting in Wrigley Field, watching Babe Ruth point to........... something. I seriously doubt if anybody on this board was there for most of the World Series' at Wrigley Field, Gayle Sayers rushing for six touchdowns, etc. When people move out of their house, they don't cry because the house is "old", or because the house is in a memorable neighborhood. They cry because of the fond memories of thing that happened IN that house. From a historical perspective, Wrigley Field is significant. From a perspective of memories that might make someone emotional (which was the context of your original post, and mine), there's no reason to think that Wrigley is anymore significant than Busch. If you referring to my post I did not say that I would not cry due to significance. I mainly has to do with the fact that I am not a Cards fan and have no emotional ties to Busch, so for me it is not sad. Wrigley would be sad due to how I feel about that place. However I don't think I would cry over a stadium being wrecked. I would be pissed more than anything. NOTHING to do with significance of the stadium, or one being better than the other, just personal preference. I don't see how you can take issue with my preferring Wrigley over Busch.
  21. I think a playoff system should have 16 teams. IMO some two loss teams with a tough schedule deserve a spot more than 1 loss teams with an easy schedule. To answer the original question here is my 8 team playoff USC Texas Bama Miami VT PSU Georgia LSU That will definately change after this next weekend though.
  22. I would not doubt it. I would not be suprised if they ended up moving up to #2 by the end of the year. The only thing that hurt that is FSU losing on Saturday.
  23. OSU is a four loss team. That UNC win was impressive, but not impressive enough to warrant them being a good team. Besides those teams they beat Cinncy, Pitt, FAU, Kentucky. 24. Not important to the ACC title, but both teams are fighting for bowl eligibility Fair enough.
  25. That would be the best thing that could happen. The more messed up it gets, the more likely a playoff becomes.
