  1. Awesome huh? If FSU wins the ACC some team is going to get really screwed out of a spot they deserve. Didn't FSU go to a BCS game a few years ago with a 7-4 record? Question: Does every team have the same requirements as ND? The reason I ask is because if scUM beats O$U, they could very well be in the BCS top twelve with 8 wins, not the 9 required for ND.
  2. I agree. I thought Ortiz was going to win, but A-Rod was just a deserving.
  3. I commend them for admitting they were wrong. I just got the magazine in the mail today and plan on reading it tonight if I have time. A lot to read though.
  4. That's Action Superstar Dolph Lundgren to you, buddy. ;) You are right. I am sorry Dolph. Please don't hunt me down.
  5. Posted this in last weeks thread, but here is the new BCS 1. USC 2. Texas 3. Miami 4. Penn State 5. LSU 6. Virginia Tech 7. Ohio State 8. Alabama 9. Notre Dame 10. Oregon 11. UCLA 12. West Virginia 13. Auburn 14. TCU 15. Michigan 16. Georgia 17. Fresno State 18. Louisville 19. Texas Tech 20. Wisconsin 21. Minnesota 22. Florida 23. South Carolina 24. Boston College 25. Oklahoma
  6. I don't think that many non-major conferences compare to BCS conference teams. Every now and then a good team will emerge that is above its competition (Utah, TCU, Marshall, Miami, Bowling Green, Boise State, etc) However that success is usually based on on or two main components, that when gone sinks the team back to a lower tier. Also when many of these teams play a major conference team they do not perform well at all. One exception is Utah against Pitt last year. I just don't think a Mountain West team beating up on other Mountain West teams is the same as an SEC, Big Ten, ACC, etc, team doing well in their conference; or ND doing well with their national schedule. I never heard or said anything about Lousiville not being comparable. When they were in the Conference USA they suffered from the same problem that TCU does, not being taken very seriously. Now they are in the Big East and not doing as good as everyone thought. Does that say anything about the differences? I don't think so because the Big East is so weak this year, but it is interesting. Can you compare any top 10 team to TCU? I don't think so. That is why it is so hard for those teams to get into the BCS. They have to be in the top 6 (I believe) to be guaranteed a spot. They just are not the same. OSU v. ND on a neutral field? I would say OSU would be favored, and could possibly win the game. New BCS 1. USC 2. Texas 3. Miami 4. Penn State 5. LSU 6. Virginia Tech 7. Ohio State 8. Alabama 9. Notre Dame 10. Oregon 11. UCLA 12. West Virginia 13. Auburn 14. TCU 15. Michigan 16. Georgia 17. Fresno State 18. Louisville 19. Texas Tech 20. Wisconsin 21. Minnesota 22. Florida 23. South Carolina 24. Boston College 25. 7. But not as good as Rambo IV (also in the works.) Wow. Is Stallone really hard up for money. Also as much as I hate to admit it, if/when Rocky VI comes out I will definately go see it in the theatre. No matter how ridiculous it is, I still love the Rocky series. Me too, but it's going to be ridiculous. I read somewhere that his opponent is a boxer named Mason "The Line" Dixon, no joke  And Adrian is dead. This my prove how much of a dork I am, but they posted part of the script online a while back and I read the first few pages. It opened at the cemetary with Rocky and his son (not played by Sage who magically aged 8 years in the time it takes to fly back from Russia) visiting the cemetary. I don't know if this is true or not, but Dolph Lundren (sp?) said that Sly contacted him about reprising his role as Drago for the film. "The Line" is his main foe, and is played by Antonio Tarver. Also the movie is inspired by George Foreman. http://www.totalrocky.com/main/
  8. I think the game you are refering to was in '61. And in 2003 the Orangmen embarassed the Irish 38-12 in the last game, keeping the Irish from finishing .500.
  9. I would be more than happy with that.

  11. It is rivalry week? Who is ND playing? Oh, Cuse. I don't think it is rivalry week then. ND and their fans determines who are rivals. Of course, if they determine that Cuse is a rival then, rivalry week is back on. What are you talking about? It is rivalry week. Does that mean every single team plays a rival? Also perhaps you can tell me who determines rivals if it is not the fans or schools.
  12. I'd say the chance of Vasher running it back 108 yards was less than that even... I disagree... you've got a bunch of guys on offense who don't know how to tackle and most of whom don't know how to contain (i.e., like a kick return), plus a fast cornerback trying to outrun 11 guys, most of whom he is faster than. Did you see all the fatties from SF when he cut? They were dead in the water. The chance of running back a kickoff is less than 1%, but the chances of running back a field goal against a surprised, disorganized bunch of people who don't know how to tackle is much greater than that. The chance of running it back it greater, if you get it. But the chance of the FG being missed and a team being able to catch and return it is not too great. I have only seen it happen one other time during a Ravens Monday night game.
  13. That is Jonathon Quinnesqe. Didn't Leaf have a one completion game? I am real upset I missed todays game. While it sounds like it was ugly, it also sounds like it was very entertaining. It sounds weird to say the Bears are 6-3!
  14. I never said the voters based their votes on those facts. And c'mon man, I don't want to debate what happened if you changed teams schedules. TCU and ND are not even comparable. You have to look at a lot more than just their opponents record, but the record of their opponents opponents (which I am sure you know). I doubt TCU's opponents play as tough of schedules as ND opponents do. That is just a bad argument. I really don't want to do this anymore. Next I will say that ND lost two games by a total of six points, one in overtime and one to arguably the best college team ever assembled, as time expire. Then you will come back with some stat that shows ND is overrated (I assume). Then I will have another stat, and you will do likewise. Like I said this could go on forever. You answered the original question I asked, and I thank you. Can we just agree to disagree on the legitness (is that a word?) of ND's ranking?
  15. O$U is a great team, and they would probably do the same. I have never taken anything away from O$U. They are a victim of the weakness of the polls. If they were ranked above ND I would not complain, and there is a chance they will meet in the Fiesta Bowl which would be a great game. Here are some interesting stats about the ND wins this year (and losses) taken from an ND message board. Doesn't prove much but it is interesting, well some of it, some of it is irrelevant IMO. I am not by any means saying ND deserves to be ahead of all these teams. I do think their is an argument for it though, which it seems a majority of coaches and sports writers do to. My whole point was to find out why some people always complain about ND and not other teams in the same (or very similiar) situation. I was not putting anyone down or trying to start this whole debate again. I was an honest question. We could go around all day on the rankings, which is part of what is great about college football, but also shows what sucks about the system. You provided me with your argument and I accept it. It is very plausible that O$U has a legit reason to be above ND. I just never hear anyone complain about why O$U is ranked ahead of Oregon or UCLA, or why is Auburn ahead of UCLA or West Virgina; but why is ND ahead of so-and-so. Apparently people feel that way due to the schedule. Fair enough.
  16. Not to speak for Raisin, but what gets me is that ND is the highest ranked team with 2 losses, and they have possibly the worst profile to show for it. At least O$U, Auburn, and Georgia have wins over good teams, and the worst of the losses that OSU, Georgia, or Auburn(who really has no business being above UCLA) have suffered is Georgia Tech. I agree that ND wins are that good (on paper), and the MSU loss is a negative against them. I will not get into the USC loss. However I think that it is important to look at not just the record, but how they play. ND has dominated every team they beat this year (an argument could be made against UM). They are not just beating the teams they should beat, they are killing them, and in the process beating them worse than any other team that beat them this year. I really don't know if the same could be said about the other teams you listed. Who was Georgia's good win, Tennessee, Boise State, South Carolina? Besides Georgia, Auburn has beat nobody great, and it could be argued the rest of their schedule is worse than ND's. And aside of MSU, O$U has not beat anybody real good. Even MSU is not that good, but I mention them due to the fact they did beat ND, which does make the O$U argument more legit. ND is ranked higher in the human polls because of how they play. They are ranked lower in the CPU polls for all the reasons you listed. It all evens out in the BCS polls (which is sad to say).
  17. Yea it does. He is saying that right now ND is benefiting from an early loss (MSU) and since the UCS game did not affect their ranking at all it is really like ND has not lost since the third week. Teams that are losing now are falling behind ND because ND lost earlier. It happens every year. This year it is benefiting ND but there have been many years it has screwed them (93, 98, 02 to name a few). Raisin I don't mean this to be negative towards you at all, but why do you just point out ND? There are a few two loss teams ahead of one loss teams, but you only complain about ND. Is it just because they are the highest ranked 2 loss team?
  18. Smoke Em? I admire you confidence but thats pretty strong. Both of OSU's losses were to top 5 teams and games they could have won. Its not like they got blown out verse texas or penn state. When was the last time OSU got smoked, probably not since Cooper was coach, it just doesnt happen. You neednt think about OSU/ND bowl game, Michigan will hopefully take care of business this coming saturday. Iowa blew out O$U last year, if memory serves. Still your point is correct, and it's just as likely that O$U would smoke ND than the other way around IMO. Alabama falls below Notre Dame? This is getting out of hand. It is always out of hand. I have said before but my biggest complaint with the polls it that it is not if you lose, but when you lose. A loss early does not effect you the same as a late loss. Also did VT play this week? I saw they jumped over ND.
  19. Then new USA Today Poll
  20. Did anyone see the Sportscenter Top 10? I believe they called Stovall "Chauncey Stovall"
  21. UCLA could very possibly beat ND. Would be a great game, but since ND plays them next year I would rather they not play in a bowl. Bama would be a great game IMO. Great D and average O against a great O and average D. Here is what was posted on a ND board today about the possible bowl matchups
  22. That sucks. I REALLY want Oregon to lose. Otherwise ND may end up playing them in the Fiesta Bowl, and I can think of much better matchups. Can we make Oregon play USC again? No offense to PSU, but I'd be more worried about a potent offense like Oregon's in a Fiesta Bowl matchup. ND will not be playing PSU in the Fiesta Bowl. If they both win out it should be PSU/ACC in the Orange and ND/either Pac 10 or at-large (probably UCLA/Oregon or O$U...maybe Bama)
  23. As someone who is hoping that Mizzou by several freak occurrences makes it to a BCS game with an 8-4 record, no. :P Here's your BCS nightmare, with all the possibilities except a couple already explained in this thread: Pac-10: Oregon Big 12: Missouri Big Ten: Penn State (no offense PSU, just that Mich and OSU have more national pull) ACC: 8-4 Florida State SEC: South Carolina (Is this even possible?) Big East: South Florida (don't laugh, if USF wins out, including beating WV, this is a reality) At-larges: UCLA/USC (If UCLA beat USC and won out I can't imagine either of them getting passed up; I'm assuming further nightmarish occurrences such as ND losing one of their last two) Ouch. Would there be any room for at-larges in that scenario? Penn State is the only conference winner that could conceivably be in the championship game in that scenario, and I'd think that USC and Texas would both have as good a shot as them. Valid point. I probably should substitute Texas for UCLA, as I would think the BCS would see more $$ in the Horns. And in that scenario, you're probably looking at a USC/PSU title game (even with USC's hypothetical loss)...or something like that. That's why it's a BCS nightmare! I hope this happens. Even if it means ND being left out, it would be worth the sacrifice to have the BCS get closer to its demise.
  24. That sucks. I REALLY want Oregon to lose. Otherwise ND may end up playing them in the Fiesta Bowl, and I can think of much better matchups.
  25. As someone who is hoping that Mizzou by several freak occurrences makes it to a BCS game with an 8-4 record, no. :P They could still make it? Wow. Also I think Southern Florida can make it to the BCS if they beat WVU.
