  1. I agree. The swing-off was fun for a once-in-a-decade thing at the All Star game, but it has no place in a regular season game. Then again, neither does the "ghost runner".
  2. I particularly enjoyed the camera panning to the sky to build suspense for balls that clearly weren't hit well and ended up falling 50 feet short of the outfield wall.
  3. Ok, that was kind of awesome.
  4. And another now. Striking a batter out via challenge is really anti-climactic.
  5. Fairly non-eventful, but there was 1 ball changed to a strike that resulted in a strikeout. I'm still not a fan unless it's going to be used for every pitch.
  6. This time it counts
  7. Things are looking up for home field advantage in the World Series.
  8. Baseball in a speedway... seems like an awful viewing experience for the fans.
  9. Yeah, I can't disagree with that. I think if you were watching it in person, it would be a very cool event, but it is really difficult to follow the path of the balls on TV with the camera bouncing all over.
  10. The AL and NL jerseys the players wore last night were especially terrible.
  11. I thought the home run derby was fine last night. It seems like they tweak the format every year, but I'm not sure what they could really do better. I'm partial to the old school, head-to-head 9 inning format, but I doubt that would work in an ASG setting.
  12. In a way, yes, but with the Cubs' lack of offensive depth, they NEED to be able to let up a bit. The way we're going, many of these guys are gonna be running on fumes by the end of the season.
  13. I miss the organ at Wrigley. Now it's just music blaring over the speakers like almost every other team.
  14. I have no issue whatsoever dealing Alcantara and/or Ballesteros in the right deal. Caissie is the guy I think we would really regret trading away.
  15. I know lineup construction is everyone's favorite topic, but I would be in favor of moving the team's best hitter up from the 5 spot.
  16. It sure seems like he is much more hot and cold than most, but he will get hot again soon and his numbers will end up close to where they always are.
  17. Down by 2 with 2 innings to go, can we please stop assuming games are lost when they are still well within reach? Chances are the Cubs will lose, but we have seen them come back several times this year.
  18. "Waste" is an interesting choice of words. As if he's a big weapon off the bench.
  19. Andrew Vaughn coming off the scrap heap and suddenly being a useful player for them would be an unfortunate development. With their pitching, they are scary, and might be a better team than the Cubs pre trade deadline.
  20. Oh, it's a completely unrealistic and unreasonable suggestion, that also somehow may be their best option.
  21. Reese McGuire used to play 3B. Any chance whatsoever he has been talking grounders in the event Amaya is ready to come back?
  22. Shaw needs to go back to Iowa again. It's not enough to play defense. There is no solid contact at all.
