  1. Well, we found our closer. But how long can he survive having to throw 2 innings in every close game?
  2. Playing Mervis twice a week isn't enough. I know he has struggled, but if he's up here, he needs to be getting a chance to figure things out.
  3. It seems Happ has been getting the Schwarber treatment lately. As soon as I saw the location of that pitch, I just knew the umpire was going to ring him up on it.
  4. Anytime Dansby wants to get hot again is ok with me. The OBP is still really good, but SLG isn't.
  5. That's great and all, but if you're going to use him today while trailing by 1, why not use him while you still have the lead? I'm not a fan of back to back days after a multi-inning appearance, but especially not when the team is losing.
  6. Only Alzolay, who is now pitching while trailing after having thrown 2 innings yesterday. He'll be burnt out soon.
  7. Hey now, if we stack their batting averages on top of each other, they look just like a real boy.
  8. I'm going to say twice. But I can only remember the past week.
  9. The Wesneski move has certainly paid off. The chances of Rucker getting through multiple scoreless innings would have been slim to none.
  10. The offense may well be the same, but I kind of like this version where the pitchers flirt with no hitters and/or shutouts every game.
  11. I was told they would be available in the Ivy Shop at Gallagher Way following the alumni games. (I want one as well)
  12. Where would this bullpen be without Alzolay? He has been a consistent bright spot.
  13. Bellinger is out until mid June? Him missing a month is not ideal.
  14. The Cubs seem to have a real problem identifying bench personnel. Breaking camp with Torrens. Giving a roster spot to Rios who has no value except his bat, and his bat has been non-existent. Choosing both Mastrobuoni and Madrigal over Mckinstry. Signing Barnhart to a multi-year deal. Signing Hosmer when there was nothing to indicate that he could still be a productive player. The front office has at least shown a willingness to move on when bench guys don't work out, but it certainly doesn't inspire confidence that they have missed so often.
  15. It's one thing for the manager to discount the splits due to fairly small sample size and field a semi-normal lineup, but it's quite another to lean hard into the exact opposite of what the splits are showing.
  16. The Cubs have 6 left handed hitters in the lineup. None of them have any hits. They have 3 right handed hitters in the lineup. All of them have a hit.
  17. I must have been watching a different game yesterday. The one where Wisdom hit 2 home runs. I mean Mastrobuoni, Tauchman, Rios, Barnhart... My best guess is this pitcher has some severe R/L splits, but no major league team should be rolling a lineup out there with those 4 guys all in it on the same day.
  18. 1st and 2nd with no outs is this team's 7-10 split.
  19. I can't get over the tastytrade ad on the mound. Just awful, greedy, money-grubbing.
  20. Oh but just wait until the minor league depth gets here. Waves and waves of passable Major League pitchers should fix everything.
