  1. The first one is much worse. If Jed intentionally built a mediocre team, that at least allows for the possibility that he knows how to build a good team when he deems the time is right. The first one implies that Jed simply has no idea what he is doing and how to build a team except to try to catch lightning in a bottle again like Theo did with the 2016 era group. Unfortunately I think Jed having no idea how to build a winning team is much closer to the truth.
  2. Worse yet, I'm fully expecting Amaya to be back on the bench tomorrow.
  3. But they fought hard... Sell the farm! Buy! Buy! Buy!
  4. 112mph for Happ. He should just do that every time.
  5. Oh, they will definitely end up drafting somewhere in the neighborhood of 13-15 again.
  6. Are the Nationals going to bring Dave Martinez back or can we have him after the Cubs fire Ross?
  7. That is rarely how it works. Jed is MUCH more at fault than Ross, but he's going to get his opportunity to fire Ross and hire another manager.
  8. So... Let's take a team that is 6 games under .500, get rid of their best pitcher and best hitter (either by trade or through free agency) and then expect to be better next year. Is that how this works?
  9. Who could have predicted Nico and Happ both turning into pumpkins after signing long term deals? P.S. I still like Nico, and Happ will probably be fine (albeit boring and without enough power) over the life of his deal.
  10. I'm more confused by what anyone sees in Mastrobuoni. Bote is bad, but he is a significantly better baseball player than Mastrobuoni.
  11. The Cubs offensive gurus are probably trying to "unlock his power.'
  12. You're probably not going to get around the occasional national game. Any top tier broadcaster isn't going to take a job with a team unless they allow him do the national gigs. But that doesn't stop them from at least stabilizing the 2nd guy in the booth and getting rid of the rotating 2nd/3rd chair.
  13. It would help if JD didn't take 30 games off every year. I still say get rid of all of them and hire 2 guys who can be together for a majority of the broadcasts.
  14. In what world does Jared Young give the Cubs a better chance to win than Mervis? I do not understand what they are doing.
  15. Come on G. Heileman Brewing Company. This is your chance!
  16. Said sponsors must each nominate a representative to participate in feats of strength.
  17. I fully expect 2025 to be awarded to another city, with Manfred continuing to pay lip service to Chicago as a "potential" host for years to come.
  18. Unsurprising, but gross nonetheless. https://theathletic.com/4685872/2023/07/12/yankees-jersey-sponsor-starr-insurance/
  19. Our long national nightmare is finally over.
  20. And it all comes down to Kimbrel...
  21. Why are we being subjected to a continuous split screen with ARod and Ortiz while the game is ongoing? At least find Adley Rutschman's sister in the crowd.
  22. No ASG thread this year? Which forum would it even go in? Anyway, that sucks the HR got overturned. This NL losing streak is beyond the point of ridiculousness.
  23. This event in particular seems like it would be much more enjoyable to watch in person.
