  1. When you posted this, I was going to say it would be nowhere near as bad. Somehow, it ended up being even worse.
  2. I watched it multiple times and I still don't even understand what happened on that ball. It's one thing to drop a routine fly ball, but to appear camped under it and just whiff completely doesn't make any sense.
  3. I can't wait until the Braves make this close and the Cubs pinch hit for their defensive replacement who came in way too early.
  4. I think PCA might have been able to score on that single.
  5. Sure, it would have been great if the Cubs could have swept the Pirates or even taken 2 out of 3. The reality though is they just won 4 out of 6 on their last home stand. It isn't realistic to expect anything more than that. There are other games/series we can potentially look back on, but I can't get too worked up about losing 2 games to the Pirates and then sweeping the Rockies.
  6. I'm not so sure they will pick up Hendricks' option if Stroman opts in. That's a lot of money to spend on 3 guys (Stroman-Hendricks-Taillon) who are all closer to back of rotation starters than top guys. If they have any intention of trying to sign or trade for a legitimate 1/2, then I think they likely sacrifice Hendricks and use their depth to fill the back of the rotation instead. I want Hendricks back though, largely for sentimental reasons but also because he is still a productive pitcher. I would be all for trying to negotiate a 2 year deal to knock his AAV down a bit and hopefully allow him to finish out his career and retire as a lifetime Cub.
  7. So you're telling me there's a chance!
  8. For some reason I thought their luck had evened out a bit, but I just checked and... 32-13 in 1-run games and a -51 run differential overall??? That makes me sick.
  9. Now if the Cubs go 4-2, then the only way they miss the playoffs is if Miami goes 5-1 or better AND Arizona goes 4-2 or better. I like those odds, so let's do that.
  10. Well, the Yankees did their job. Now we just need some help from the White Sox. That isn't too much to ask, is it?
  11. They don't, and he would not be an improvement defensively over Happ. Maybe if the Cubs have Morel focus on a single position going forward (similar to what they did with Happ in LF), he could develop into a passable fielder, but they haven't shown a willingness to allow him to stick with a single position. Not only that, he has struggled on offense for much of the second half, so he is no longer forcing his way into the lineup. All that to say, I don't see a world in which Morel in LF is a better option than Happ. Definitely not now, and probably not in the future either.
  12. And let's not dismiss Arizona as a possibility just yet. We can hedge a little bit that, if the Cubs play 3-3 or 4-2 baseball over the next week and Miami goes on a run that is 1 game better, passing Arizona isn't out of the question if they struggle a bit.
  13. Was there any discussion about why Hendricks got pushed back? Is it just that the Cubs like the match up better against Milwaukee than the possibility of him facing the Braves' offense in Atlanta? I guess if he's only going to get one more start either way, they might as well try to line up the best match-ups.
  14. All of the above, and add bad coaching as well.
  15. What happened to D'Onta Foreman? The Bears signed him for $3 Million and he isn't even good enough to be on the active roster?
  16. So win tomorrow, hope for a Miami loss and an Arizona split. Going into the final 6 games with a 2 game cushion (effectively 1 game with the tiebreaker) and also a chance to beat out Arizona if somehow Miami goes on a winning streak. That would be a good position to be in.
  17. I was just going to say... Can you even imagine?
  18. We hold all the tiebreakers that matter. Who needs it against Arizona, Miami, or Cincinnati?
  19. If the Cubs lose 4 more games, it probably won't matter anyway!
