  1. At least Lohse probably won't pitch the 9th.
  2. You're a terrible fan if that's the case. And yours, too. Wow. Just wow. Boy, that takes me back. To the days when I read Cubs.com... doesn't it feel like we're getting alot of those types lately? Yeah. How do most people find this place anyway? Perhaps somebody posted a link to NSBB on cubs.com recently. That would explain the influx of trolls. Or it could just be a beginning of the season kind of a thing.

  4. Cause we had no outs and 3,4,5 coming up. it was dumb. Soriano is fast enough to score The rule of thumb that 3rd base coaches uses is this: If the ball gets to the OFer (in this case the CFer) before the runner even gets to third you hold the runner up. In this case Soriano was a good 3 steps away from 3rd when the ball got to Freel. Holding Soriano up there was the good call. Yeah, I don't think you can fault Quade for not wanting to risk a baserunner on third with nobody out and the best hitters in the lineup at bat. none of those guys have gotten a hit today. So? You still don't risk a baserunner on third in that situation.
  5. he would have been out by 20 feet, and he couldn't see into the future to know that jones and lee were going to choke. A better question would be why was Jacque batting third. He is a terrible, terrible hitter. he's not THAT bad. You show me a team Jacque Jones is batting third on and I will show you a team that picks in the first five of the draft the next year. He's no #3, but he isn't terrible. There is a difference. I'm not sure what made Piniella bat him 3rd, though.

  7. This has been said, but Jesus, they couldn't score once with men on the corners and the middle of the order at bat? All they had to do was hit the ball on the ground and Jacques couldn't even do that.
  8. It looked like Barrett was thinking more about whether the catcher would catch the ball than if he would hit it on that last swing.
  9. At this point, I feel like it might be best if we collectively repressed all memories of Mark Prior until he can actually pitch in the major leagues again. I'll start coming up with alternate explanations for his scattered starts over the last couple of years.
  10. Yes. He wasn't wild, but his control was definitely off because he threw a ton of pitches in the middle of the strike zone all of which were crushed by the Brewers.
  11. I know Eyre is a pretty solid reliever usually, but I still hate him.
  12. We have bats behind them, Barrett and Jones/Floyd. Barrett almost came through, just some bad luck.
  13. If Prior was capable of throwing enough pitches to make a start, I think he would already be on the team.
  14. It seems like Capuano throws the first two pitches right down the middle of the plate, where they should get hammered, then throws a bunch of crap three feet off the plate until the Cubs swing at one and strike out or pop up.
  15. He's got a perfect game going so far, doesn't he? Yes. Yes he does. Indeed. I'm not sure if this works backwards, but if it does, I'm taking the credit.
  16. He's got a perfect game going so far, doesn't he?
  17. Has Prior even pitched in Iowa yet? He's in extended ST Thanks! I'd imagine it would take 2-3 starts in Iowa at the very least before Prior is called up to the big league club. Agreed. Prior has to be able to throw more than 4 innings a game before he's going be be called up to the big club. Hendry has said he won't even make a AAA start until his arm strength is worked up enough to allow him to throw 5-6.
  18. Yeah, it's Barrett's fault that Miller sucks. Bob was mentioning that those HR fastballs were inside, and Barrett called for them further out. It seems pretty clear that Miller has little control or stuff today.
  19. When does he go to Iowa? Once he can throw 5-6 innings. In other words, we have no idea. They've said he is on the 7 day MiL DL for extended training, but that should be running out soon, and they may extend it.
  20. Bring in Prior. Holy crap, an out. As soon as his arm is firmly attached.
  21. It's the one main decision i disagree with lou about so far. miller's throwing batting practice up there. Guzman hasn't exactly been lights out in the bullpen so far. Neither of them has a meaningful sample size this season.
