I hope they pencil him in his as trade bait to improve the offense. Three lefties in the rotation are too many and I think Marshall will always be a back of the rotation type of guy. Why is three lefties in the rotation too many? Who would they replace Marshall with? Prior will be trying to make another comeback, but they still need a decent fallback option if he gets injured again, which isn't that unlikely. 3 lefties in a rotation is bad because the majority of hitters are right-handed and most teams do much better against lefties (except the Cubs). It might be different if you have a lefty with exceptional stuff (Santana, Koufax, etc.), but Lilly, Hill, and Marshall don't fall into the "exceptional" category. They do fall into the "better than Marquis" category. I'd rather use a decent back of the rotation starter and have three lefties than let Marquis pitch. Regardless of what hand he throws with, he's a bum. If they can get decent value back for Marshall, they should trade him, but I don't know what he'd bring that would be worth it.
