  1. Huff can be had for a decent price. The Score was talking about the White Sox thinking about making a run for his services. I would do anything to keep him out of that organization to get him into ours.
  2. If Nomar returns to form he will be a major shot in the arm for this team. If he hits at his career average, he will replace Neifi and add 50 points of batting average, not to mention his power. Couple this with Murton getting the majority of starts and that is one formidable lineup.
  3. Umm... the 50 points of batting average. The versatility. The alarmingly lower K rate. OBP aside, I don't understand the fascination with Dunn. Huff plays RF/LF/1B (poorly), so does Dunn, I don't see how that's a plus to him when you are comparing him to Dunn. If you're going to look at #s, try Slug% or HRs. As I previously mentioned, Huff would be extremely difficult to deal for, at least the Reds operate in this universe. After the Kazmir trade, the DRays seemingly operate in a parallel one. Huff also plays 3b. Another reason to cut Macias. What deals since the Kazmir trade have led you to believe that they're expecting the ability to rob other teams blind? By that same logic the Cubs won't make any trades because we robbed the Pirates for Ramirez.

  5. Watching him play it's obvious he isn't the same player he was. I know a lot of Cardinals fans are scared that he'll never be a dominant 3rd baseman like he was.... and they're stuck with him for 5 more years.
  6. 1. Aubrey Huff 2. Billy Wagner 3. Bobby Abreu 4. Griffey (assuming half of his contract is eaten) 5. BJ Ryan It's a wishlist, right? Not a probable moves list.
  7. On the Score last night they seemed pretty sure that Gerut would start almost every day in left field immediately, pushing Murton to the bench. This can't be right is it? Would Dusty (as big a R/L split guy he is, rooted in stats or not) let him play every day against left handed pitching and batt .200? There has to be another move coming.
  8. I'd rather see Floyd than Dunn. I'm not as high on Dunn as seemingly everone else here is. The fact that he's gone well over 100 ABs without a single sac fly scares the crap out of me. Stoney was just saying on the Score he went an entire season with something like 104 RBIs - none of which coming via sacrifice. I really can't put my finger on it, but it seems like most possible trades for Dunn would end up nipping us in the butt somewhere down the road (like September). I'm still on the Aubrey Huff kick. I'd gladly ship Patterson, Mitre, and Fontenot for Huff and Baez. Before the flames commence: I'm not a huge Baez supporter, but he'd be a decent addition to the backend of our pen.
  9. To be honest, I don't think they've said a word about that since the announcement was made. They have however gone on about how well represented the Cardinals are in sending 6 players to the ASG.
  10. During the Cards game their ridiculously biased words echoed that it comes down to either Carpenter or Willis, without question, and that Carpenter should be given the nod. I get angry listening to those no-talent hacks talk about anything baseball related.
  11. Hah, I made that same connection yesterday.
  12. I'd take him and throw Jose Macias to the curb in a heartbeat.
  13. See Dubois, Jason for further proof.
  14. I'm in. I didn't get to see the game tonight, but going 2 for 2 with a walk in your big league debut is pretty hot.
  15. I might have just wet myself a little thinking about that lineup.
  16. Baker has been given the tools to get it done in the past two years, but unfortunately they were not the tools that he wanted. Ergo he has NOT used them so he has NOT gotten it done. Or....he DID use them and they failed (LaTroy Hawkins anyone)? I think LaTroy was MISused. He clearly wasn't a closer, and the Cubs tried it anyway. Off the top of my head: Mark Bellhorn- best as a leadoff hitter, Baker hit him 6th Lenny Harris- best as a bench player, Baker had him start Corey Patterson- not a leadoff hitter, Baker had him lead off Jerry Hairston- Best as a leadoff hitter, Baker used him there sparingly LaTroy Hawkins- Effective set up man, Baker used him as a closer Kyle Farnsworth- Effective if not used 3 days in a row, Baker ran him out there as often as possible Mike Remlinger- More effective against RH hitters, Baker used him as a loogy Neifi Perez- Career averages suggest he's bottom of the order material, Baker has him lead off Chad Fox- recovering from surgery must not be used too often, Baker pitched him 3 days in a row. Shawn Estes- generally ineffective, Baker continued to start him even as he got hit very very hard. Great post. Also Jason Dubois - hit right handers better in AAA, yet platooned against only lefties.
  17. If the Cardinals end up with Aubrey Huff I'm not sure what I'd do. I'm sure it would involve at one point or another sobbing, drinking, smashing things, drinking more, crying, calling up Cardinal fan friends and cursing them, and drinking more.
  18. What happened to all the talks earlier in the season about Jesus*? *Johnny Damon
  19. Maybe I'm the only one left who really likes Jason Dubois, but this is a hard descision for me. I love both of them. I'll come back and decide whether or not I like this deal. I'd do almost anything else to get Huff in a Cubs uniform though. See sig.
  20. I've been using random email addresses from my university. Every email address is cuXX@eiu.edu where the Xs are initials. Considering they never delete email accounts, that makes them plentiful. Also, a time/hand saving fix I've noticed is while typing in the security code as to not cheat, put your right hand on the numpad and your left hand in regular typing position. All the letters are from the left side of the keyboard.
  21. 100 votes from me this evening. I'm hoping to get a couple hundred in tomorrow after work.
  22. Why is Damon unavailable this season? The Sox might be willing to part with him at the deadline if the deal is right. He'll be entering free agency, and they're not likely to resign him if they have a better, younger option (Patterson).
