  1. With all due respect, that award goes to Meg White. no, she is barely breathing Zing!
  2. You clearly miss the point of the White Stripes To play poorly and make millions? I'd like to see any 6 month vet of the guitar play Ball and a Biscuit. Jack White's minimilistic style is just ironic because he's actually a fantastic Blues and Rock guitarist. Exactly. The point is they sound like anyone who plugs in in the garage and cranks it to 11. You call it "sloppy", I call it "not processed through ProTools 173 times before going on the CD" Trust me, I'm as big a critic on over-produced crap as anybody, but the White Stripes just play POORLY. There's no other word for it. Here's an analogy - the White Stripes are the Neifi Perez of music. They don't play at a professional level, yet are rewarded with millions of dollars for that mediocrity.
  3. Someone should call and tell them you want to talk about how injuries have hurt the club and Hendry's plans to make progress on those injuries... then when you get through ask a real question like "what role does OBP play in your evaulation of players?" and "Why do veterans get every opportunity to play poorly while younger players far exceed expectations at the AAA level yet are stuck in the minor leagues? (Wuertz, Hill, Theriot)"
  4. I guess Cinci got tired of being in the pennant race. Congrats StL/Houston. Just wow.
  5. abreu in CF? Can he handle that position? He covers a fair amount of ground and has a great arm. With the outfielders around him they'd do a more than adequate job.
  6. I spent about 10 years studying percussion and at least 15 playing the drums and I simply can't stand Tool (not my genre). Thus, I haven't listened to a ton of Carey, but I'd disagree that he's the best rock drummer alive. Without listening to it, how can you make that judgement?
  7. Ditto. I said the EXACT same thing on the first page. "Dream On" is a dang fine song. Ha! I just noticed that. And yes, that song is freakin' sweet, but it was all downhill from there.

  9. I hate that album, and I've liked every other one. I had to vote Green Day. I saw them play live in Milwaukee in 2000 and it was the (then) best show I'd ever seen. It was amazing, they played like 7 tunes and said that was the end of their setlist. People started booing and then Billy Joe explained it was the end of the SET list, and that the next two hours they'd be taking requests. And they did. They played so much old stuff and crazy covers. It was totally amazing. Too bad American Idiot was so terrible.
  10. Tool is probably the best band still in existance today. A 9 seed is pitiful. That said, Danny Carey is the best rock drummer alive, and ranks in the top 10 of all drummers. If you've studied percussion at all you'd realize what an absolute genius he is. His playing is the absolute definition of drumming as an art form. I like RHCP, don't get me wrong, but against Tool they're a garage band.
  11. Aerosmith has only ever written one good song, and it was their first single. That being said, they get the vote over the White Stripes. The White Stripes have made their careers on being bad at their instruments. My 6 year old nephew can drum circles around Meg White, and anyone who's taken 6 months of guitar lessons can play less sloppily than Jack White (on the WS recordings). They're an absolute joke.
  12. I'd vote for literally any band over DMB. Seriously. I'm staying out of this drummer discussion for the time being, it's more fun to see what you guys have to say. I'm almost done with my percussion performance degree, and I've met most of my idols at different Percussive Arts Society International Conventions, so my opinions on some have changed as a result of their character. Short list of favorites: Danny Carey, Johnny Rabb, John Bonham, Dave Weckl, Ndugu Chancellor, Billy Cobham, Dave Garibaldi. Much more to come.
  13. I think Huff would play 1st or LF. Berkman's arm is way too good to be wasted on 1B
  14. London Calling was a terrible album for as much hype as it got. All their earlier stuff was so much better. Joe Strummer was a god amongst men.
  15. I'm torn. I love Genesis, but I love punk rock more. Unfortunately the Sex Pistols were one of the worst punk bands ever... gonna have to take Genesis on this one.
  16. Maiden all the way. CSNY were just sappy hippies. I learned how to play the drums listening to Iron Maiden, and no one can do dual guitar solos like them. \m/
  17. Oh god, I'm so scared about this one. If Soundgarden wins this matchup... I don't know, but that would be the worst thing to happen in this.
  18. If you voted for Cream... "you got another thing comin'" Lame, I know.
  19. I think that had Bon Jovi quit before releasing this new crap the past couple of years they'd be winning.
  20. They were snubbed, hardcore. Yet the Sex Pistols made it... Soundgarden is good, but come on. The Ramones. If it weren't for them Soundgarden wouldn't have ever been around.
  21. This is ridiculous. Dusty will not be fired now. If Dusty conked his head on something last night and figured out how to manage a baseball team, I'm ok with that. Otherwise seeing this is scary.
  22. This is the Cubs? They're playing good baseball.
  23. YOU SAY POTATO Didn't we have this thread already?
