  1. doesn't matter what we do, just do something, we have been shut out 3 of the last 6 games, we are floundering, DO SOMETHING< DO SOMETHING, MR HENDRY< DO SOMETHING
  2. No one wants Conine, or Millar, or anyone's leavings, trake value for value, get a player that can be used for several years, or bring up soneone like COATS
  3. Can anyone tell me why these players are on our bench, neither can hit, they very seldom contribute to the team, lets gety someone who we at least root for.
  4. You are probably anout hill, but you have to give to get, and we need a big bat like abreau
  5. When two of our three starting pitchers return next month we will have two many starting pitchers to go around so that is the trade bait to get Abreau from the phillies. Keep maddox, Prior, Wood, Miller, Marshall,Z. Trade Rich Hill, Guzman, Williams, Jones because I don't like him, and Pie. It allows the phillies to get a shot of young pitchers. I don't know if they would do that but I just don't want old right handed hitters, like Conineetc.
  6. I hate to rehash old posts with a new one but it makes me feel better to vent. The league, the southpaw pitchers, the fans etc, everyone but dusty knows we can.t hit southpaws, but we keep seeing Pierre (248) jones (200). And Jones who isn.t hitting anyone makes too maky mistakes, doesn't advance runners, base running mistakes that he calls being aggressive and I call bad baseball, he swings for the fences and continues playing, and we can't beat DUKE from pittsburgh. Our bench is horrible, and the loss on Lee is just one man. Pierre is bad, Restovich is worse. Bring up some more young position players and SIT those that looks as though they aren't trying. We are going to have a good pitching staff and a lousy hitting team, except for several young players and our professional hitter, Walker we are swinging at too many of the pitchers pitches.
  7. Will be going to the game tomorrow night, Will give a quick rundown of the game and the players who shined, or at least showed up
  8. He always seemed to have Maddox like talent, remember Greg struggled for a while and never really became a star until he moved to Atlanta, Hew throws a little harder than maddox did but the same type of pitcher, I see Metre becoming a good pitcher for a long time, and becoming a Cub nemisis
  9. Ernie Banks Ryno Shawan Dunston Billy Williams Ron Santo Bill Buckner Fergie Jenkins
  10. But if the cubs get rid of any more of the older players is shouldn't be so hard to change to a winning team. the only players I feel a kinship toward is Wood....................................Naw, I can't change. Go CUBS
  11. Just a parting thought, i always thought that Sergio would end up a pitcher like a Greg Maddox, same kind of arm, maybe a little stronger, throws a lottle harder. That was always his problem, when he learns how to take off speed instead of trying to add it he will I think torment the cubs for years to come, Just my thoughts, also Nolasco has great ability, watch for him to come of age in two years.
  12. Unlike many of the posters I have read, I believe that Hendry and the organization have a plan, and all the speculation we read really is just that. We read the different writers ideas on what Hendry is thinking, going to do or not do, what players he is focusing on, and while some may be close or even correct we really don't know, but it is fun to talk about. Mr Hendry, if you read this board one word of advise, We really need a good team and are patiently waiting for word you made the perfect deal to make us better and to placate the posters on this board, But please do not overpay for someone who will not fit in this team just because he might be a leadoff man or a power hitter we so want, If someone is willing to dump a player it may not be just a salery dump, also please don't sign someone at the expense of a young players development. If a signee is old and worn out but is a dusty man, trade the younger player he is taking the place of, as dusty will just sit him and say he is playing the player with the best chance of winning, while us on the board think a younger player would give the team a special spark, Maybe several younger players would help the whole team feel younger and hustle more th keep from being out hustled--Thanks for allowing me to rattle on.
  13. Born is Cook county hospital, Dad was a Cub fan, guess that meant I was born into it.
  14. Put Murton in left Keep corey in center sign Nomar for right field Ramarez at third Cedeno at short Walker at secone lee at first Barrett catching Trade perez for a reliever Keep Micias who can back-up everyone Keep Pie at AAA at least 1/2 year Make Koronka a 6th-7th or 8th inning reliever No major trades, utilize our minor leaguers when players are needed. Look at the Major league starters that started in the cub organization, there has to be more down there
  15. Gld it is over, Boring, Boring
  16. I understand many players have had career years, but most of thode players were experienced, Dusty has had many young players not progress as well as they should have according to their minor league statws, I know stats are just that but they should be facing players of equal talent potential at every level, so in the bigs they might be overwelmed at first but should be able to play their way through it. with dusty players had to produce right away or an old player was inserted. But even so they game is played by individuals as a team and dusty doesn't seem to teach the team comcept. Very little advancing the runner, how many times have we left a runner at third with NO outs. TEAM, The teams playing for the series use things like hit and run and squeeze bunts etc.
  17. Unless we have a team of all oldsters or all youngsters, we can't dusty proof this team, we need some experience off the bench but Dusty can really screw with the head of a youngster, not many of our younger players excelled under dusty
  18. We will still have Dusty. He has shown no ability to get the best out of his players, he has shown no desire to play younger, possibility better in the long run players. We still see older, going over the hill players being played way too much, don't know if it is loyalty toward older players or Dusty being afraid of being critisized if they fail.
  19. I don't know what it would take to move A-Rod but or for the Cubs to get him but we could really use him and we need to move patterson and many teams think they could turn him around and make potential an actual and Mitre also has potential but not with the Cubs
  20. Actually the yankees need pitching bad and a lot of fans still believe that a-rod will never be a yankee, I believe they would consider pulling a deal and getting Prior plus several other pitchers that need another team for a fresh start or trade material to other teams. Yes, prior is a stud but what is the most wins has he had since he has been in the bigs????, now is the time to move him also
  21. Since the Yankees are out of the mix in the playoffs, lets figure out how to get him, right now no one is happy withh him, so lets send a handfull of players to New York for him, most of these players are just numbers as the rule 5 draft is coming up and several of these players would be lost anyway, start with a starting pitcher, lets send them Mark Prior. You cannot get a star without trading a star and our pitching without him will still be strong, now for the rest of the players, With A-Rod playing short, send them Cedeno, good young player, Sergio Metre, still with his career ahead of him, Todd Wellemeyer, Neifi, and Corey Patterson. So, here is the list. Prior Mitre Wellemeyer Patterson Neifi Cedeno Burnitz Sign Garciaparra, trade for or sign Giles, and line up like this 8-Hairston 4-Garciaparra 3-Lee 5-Ramirez 6-Rodriguez 9-Giles 7-Murton 2-Barrett Pitcher Starters Zambrano Woods Maddux Williams Rusch Pinto Guzman Koronka Leicester Novoa Ohman Wuertz Van Buren Nolasco Ryu Rohlicek Hill Williamson Aardsma Fox Dempster Bench or start Walker Pie Sing Greenberg Theriot Fontenot Blanco Macias Just a thought, what so you think?
  22. Depends on how much input dusty has Macis can play any position and hit over 280, He stays Perez played well, dusty wants him back Walker goes, just doesn't click with dusty Murton is still young, if dusty can convince hendry to make a deal for an older power guy, Murton goes Roush stays Cedeno stays Garcarpia goes Burnitz Goes Patterson Gets traded
  23. Burnitz played great defense and was OK offensively, and the fans really took to him, the only change I would consider would be Giles, If not him keep Burnitz in place, on the infield, perez needs to go, he already said he would not play unless he was promised a starting position
