  1. Way to blow a 17 point lead DePaul!
  2. Why? Simple. His upside is greater than Theriot's.
  3. HUGE game for DePaul and Wainwright. If they lose, it'll be another unexciting year and likely NIT berth. Standard issue DePaul basketball unfortunately. However, if they can beat Creighton and then Northwestern next weekend, they will be 4-0 heading into Kansas...where Wainwright beat Kansas with his undermanned Richmond squad. I'm crossing my fingers. So far I haven't been that impressed with Wainwright.
  4. DePaul season opener tonight!!!!
  5. I can't believe this is true. I just can't!
  6. Somebody pinch me. Yawwwnnnn...Let me know when we actually sign someone.
  7. But, but, but....He won a World Series!
  8. Might as well pitch the idea to Fox to make a reality show out of it. Actually, that is a great idea!
  9. Stupid. Yea Jim would rather invest in crap like Jason Marquis, Neifi Perez, Steve freaking Trachsel, etc etc etc.. then a guy with talent. The sooner Hendrys ass leaves Chicago the better. Why is this so out of line? I'm sure other teams would want a option for 2009 also. He's not due back until the ASB, and even then you don't know what he'll give you. I thought he was on schedule for spring training? Riiigghhttt....

  11. Was Texas even considered a player then? I remember the Mets as being the leaders but the details are fuzzy regarding the other "leading" teams. I actually think it would work best for a team that has a really low payroll. Florida has been raking in the profit sharing dough for a few years. I think they should seriously consider giving ARod the money to bring their payroll from $20-50m, still low. Trade Dontrelle and Miggy, and that should bring in 3-5 solid major leaguers. I really don't see ARod bringing in added revenue to a team like LA or LAA. But a team like Florida might actually benefit financially. Texas didn't falter because of ARod's contract. They struggled because they were paying big bucks to old and crappy players, like Juan Gone and Chan Ho. If a team avoids the mega millions busts, they can deal with ARod's contract. Do you honestly think that ARod wants to go to florida?
  12. Investment, like buying a team and then playing on it? Who knows...
  13. RUMOR!!!! I didn't even want to start this in a new thread, but this comes from one of my best friends. Again, take this for whatever it's worth. My friend knows this guy that works for a Mortgage Company that told him that AROD is being underwritten for property in Chicago. It's all hush-hush. Again, take this for what it's worth. I know, I know, someone starts one of these rumors every year, but my friend nor his friend are BS'ers. It could be he's just looking for investment opportunities. I don't know...
  14. Did we get ARod yet?
  15. Sign him for his name alone. The. Best. Baseball. Name. EVER!
  16. I totally agree with this. $25 million on A-Rod will help this team a heckuva lot more than $15 million scattered around various places. They would run away with the division. Not sure about the playoffs.
  17. Not unless you back load the contract.
  18. Have you ever been great at anything in your life? Have you ever been competetive anything in your life? I'm guessing a big negative on that one. He won't get paid as much as a reliever. I don't think that matters as much to players like Wood. He could've got more last year if it was all about the $$$.
  19. I'll dedicate my morning poop to this thread.
  20. I'd love to see it, but I highly doubt that "miracle" arm holds up.
  21. I believe they will raise (huge) ticket prices and raise the salary.
