  1. This. This. This. Gimme Vlad assuming Soto won’t happen.
  2. Anyone have the breakdown of Shota first/second time through the order vs third/fourth? Feel like almost every start he’s giving up multiple runs in his final inning.
  3. I’ll go to Des Moines to watch that team play some baseball
  4. Season for the Cubs is all but over, but I still really want to sweep the Cardinals.
  5. Did anyone ask Jed why Shaw hasn’t been promoted to Iowa?
  6. Weren’t people complaining that Morel swung too hard or something? Sheesh. You aren’t wrong about his exit velo numbers, though.
  7. He acquired the best hitter of anyone traded at the TDL (not counting Morel 🫠)
  8. As much as it was a “sellers market”, not 1 top 100 prospect was traded and the Cubs acquired the best player available that has 2025 (and beyond) control. I think it’s possible that nobody wanted any of our guys with 2025 money owed/potentially owed (Taillon, Belli, Neris, Smyly buyout). I doubt Jed was holding to make a WC push this season.
  9. Could just not let him get to 60 or DFA him if you don’t want him around in 25 for 9m
  10. Gimme Soto or Vlad. Would obviously prefer Soto.
  11. Does that include Bellingers money?
  12. If you are aware that regression is coming, don’t you think other MLB front offices think the same? The reality is no team was probably willing to give up significant prospects, and the Cubs have a lot of uncertainty after Steele and Shota. Replacing Taillon in 2025 will likely cost significantly more in dollars/years than the 2/$34 left on Taillon’s deal.
  13. I’d do that for Soto. I’d do just about anything for Soto. But I don’t think Seiya is the butcher that a handful of truly awful little league style misplays make him out to be. FG has his +2 DRS this year. BS isn’t quite as kind with OAA this season, but he was positive OAA last season. Basically if you’re not getting Soto, you’re likely better off letting Caissie have a crack at RF if you want to go the Seiya DH most days route. I’d still prefer Vlad as I think you need at least one hitter better than Seiya to really fortify the lineup and score runs more consistently.
  14. My guess is Brandon Lowe is dealt in the offseason (10.5M club option) and Christopher Morel is your Rays opening day 2B. Also think Nico gets dealt this offseason (or maybe next TDL) with Madrigal/Mastro/Bote keeping the spot warm for Shaw/Trianots. Lastly, does this open up a possibility for a Vlad trade since you don’t have to commit 2025 DH to Morel?
  15. Usual slow play schtick? His TDL deals have been mostly phenomenal.
  16. How much control do we have with Miller?
  17. What’s up with Alcantara not playing in either game of the doubleheader?
  18. Yeah. You can criticize his team building and some of his FA signings, but his trades have been very good. The worst that comes to mind was the Madrigal/Heuer trade, but at the time Madrigal was a 110 wRC+ 2b with 1.8 fWAR in the first 83 games of his career, and Heuer got derailed by injuries.
  19. Not necessarily better, but Busch, Happ, and Seiya have been more plenty good enough. Dansby has his lowest wRC+ since 2018. The last 2 times he had a wRC <100, he responded the following season with wRCs of 115 and 116. So he’s a decent bounce back candidate. And regardless, youre stuck with him. You need to get more out of 3B, C, and CF either through internal improvements or external trades (assuming Soto isn’t happening). I don’t like spending on bullpens, but a reliable closer would help a lot as well as I don’t see this offense improving THAT much.
  20. And that’ll do it (if you somehow weren’t convinced before). I’m rooting for the Pirates the rest of this year.
  21. I definitely think this offseason is when Jed cashes in his prospect chips. I understand his hesitation last offseason. There was a lot of uncertainty around Morel, PCA, Busch, development of Shaw/Caissie/Alcantara. I think he has more data that will help him be more decisive in improving the offense for next season.
  22. Nico 2b Soto RF Suzuki DH Busch 1B Happ LF Dansby SS 3B C PCA That’s a solid top 5.
  23. Soto. JK. But I’ll dream of a trade for Vlad.
