5 over. feeling optimistic over there jake? the pirates aren't ready to contend this year IMO, but there have been some promising signs, and i think that neal huntington has the organization headed in a much better direction (granted, it'd be hard to be worse than littlefield) From Today's PG: On deck: trouble If the Pirates never had to face Chicago, as they do for three games at Wrigley Field beginning today, they would have a contender's record and statistics. Consider that they are 0-6 against the Cubs, 20-15 against everyone else. Or that they bat .222 against the Cubs' pitchers, .301 against everyone else. Or that their pitchers have a 7.20 ERA against the Cubs, 4.45 against everyone else. And here is one individually: Freddy Sanchez is 3 for 27 vs. Chicago. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08137/882386-63.stm So, yes, I am feeling optimistic. I think this Pirates team is a lot better than anyone expected them to be. Including themselves. Now, if they only can just figure out how to beat those pesky Cubs.....
