  1. Going to assume that this is going to ramp up the efforts for a starting pitcher.
  2. That's probably because he's not going to the Yankees or the Red Sox.
  3. Working with Lou today on his Left Handed Batting.
  4. Thats good to know, of course anyone who runs into the Phillies or Dodgers with Halladay in October wont have a lot of fun. Probably will be the Cardinals, Brewers or Cubs.
  5. Don't know where to put this but.. from Ol' Gordo on twitter: Lilly questionable for saturday start (knee).
  6. Combined offensively and defensively, I'm not sure he's better than either half of the platoon going forward, and I'm sure we could do better by focusing on picking up other halves. If we absolutely had to fill 2b in one roster spot, then he wouldn't be an awful option, but we really should be able to make up a platoon of two players, each of whom are better at their half than Lugo would be. We'll look at the platoon offensively this year: Fontenot vs RHP - .236/.322/.369/.691 Baker vs LHP - .154/.154/.308/.462 -- Lugo RHP - .260/.321/.329/.650 LHP - .333/.415/.444/.859 I think it's crazy to not look into this. Dump Baker if you have to.
  7. Our 2b are quite possibly the worst tandem in the league, and we don't want Lugo for virtually nothing?
  8. Lineup Fukudome Theriot Lee Ramirez Bradley Hoffpauir Fontenot Hill Zambrano
  9. Lineup tonight Johnson Theriot Bradley Lee Ramirez Soriano Baker Hill Harden
  10. Ok, so you're screwing the cards out of a run? How am I screwing the Cardinals? With no replay, they didn't score a run there. With replay, they scored one and possibly more. If you have replay for homeruns, you might as well have it for everything else. two runs would have scored quite easily there. Still, how am I screwing over the Cardinals there?

  12. What's wrong with that? What would you give the Cardinals if that was found to be a trapped ball? There were two outs and the runners were on the move when he hit that. Probably a single and keep the inning alive. No different than a fumble in the NFL. What? People don't stop running until someone gets tackled in the NFL Award everyone one base like a single like a ground rule double does with 2 bases.

  16. Going to show top of 9 on MLB network..
  17. Not pitching this year, IIRC. From ESPN: Player News (last updated: July 3, 2009) News: Jayson Stark of ESPN.com is reporting that Sheets (elbow) will not be physically able to pitch in the big leagues this season. Spin: Stark noted that Jason Jennings underwent the same flexor tendon surgery in August of 2007 and wasn't able to return for a year and a half. Sheets' procedure was performed in February. Three teams have shown interest in Sheets, and he could possibly sign on later this year with a club he could help next season.
  18. I'm on the fence on this one.. Yes, he's crushing the ball, but he has no spot right now on the field (won't get regular at-bats).
  19. That's the lineup.. From Bruce's blog: Fukudome, CF Theriot, SS Lee, 1B Bradley, RF Fox, 3B Soriano, LF Soto, C Fontenot, 2B Harden, P http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/2239
  20. Here's the lineup they have on Cubs.com Forum -- CF Fukudome, SS Theriot, 1B Lee, RF Bradley, 3B Fox, LF Soriano, C Soto, 2B Fontenot, P Harden.
  21. Lineups: 1. J. Kendall, C /A. Soriano, LF 2. C. Counsell, 2B /R. Theriot, SS 3. R. Braun, LF /D. Lee, 1B 4. P. Fielder, 1B /M. Bradley, RF 5. C. McGehee, 3B /K. Fukudome, CF 6. M. Cameron, CF /J. Fox, 3B 7. C. Hart, RF /M. Fontenot, 2B 8. J. Hardy, SS /K. Hill, C 9. J. Suppan, P /C. Zambrano, P
  22. Comparing Marshall to Owens is like comparing apples to oranges. Owens might be a cancer in the clubhouse or a polarizing figure, but his rap sheet is pretty much squeaky clean (no run-ins with the law as an adult) there he won't miss any time from suspensions. Marshall, on the other hand, doesn't seem like the best teammate in the world, and his rap sheet is not clean. Therefore, the double whammy is applied. Marshall's risk (suspension/jail time) outweigh his rewards on the field.
