  1. I really only had a passing interest in Game 7 and didn't watch much of it. I had the TV off and only checked the score a few times. And Game 6 was an extreme example. I'm not like that always in person. Sure, I criticize when they're not doing well, but I do yell and cheer just like anyone else. Perception isn't always reality. I honestly don't understand this. How the hell can you be a Cub fan and not watch game 7 of the NLCS. It would've been physically impossible for me to not watch that game.
  2. I remember it being a double play ball as well, but after seeing it again there was no way he was turning two on that slow of a grounder. I still hate him though. And my lord was that a bad Cub's team.
  3. From Jon Heyman's lates article. He's good: Ted Lilly's injury could be a big blow, and Rafael Soriano proved to be even more untradeable than Castillo. No matter, they remain very talented and still have an excellent shot to get back to the playoffs.
  4. i don't think trying is accounted for in the mvp voting Neither is defense.
  5. Thabeet's improving but that's really not saying much. I thought he'd be further along by now. If the Grizz don't make the playoffs it will definitely be because of the weak bench. There's some nice young players there but pretty much zero scoring punch. Iverson was supposed to provide that but he's a huge douche and couldn't come to terms with him not being a starter anymore.
  6. Not wonderful. But he's trying.
  7. You're seriously the last remaining person who thinks Randolph is a good player. Including his relatives. I'm pretty sure his relatives still think he can play. You have to admit he's legitimized the Grizzlies this season. They basically brought back the same players from a 24 win team plus him. As of right now they're 25-19 and Randolphs putting up 21 and 12 while shooting 50% from the field. He's playing really really good. You owe him an apology.
  8. Am I the only one thinking Zach Randolph should get some MVP votes?
  9. Theriot apparently continues to believe the baseball game happens in the clubhouse rather than on the field. He can probably just shut up now. He got his wish, Bradley is gone. While I don't believe clubhouse chemistry plays a huge role in a teams success on the filed, I do believe there's a little truth to it. Too many players talk about it for there to be nothing to it. And if a majority of players believe in it then that there gives it some significance.
  10. Yes. I'd argue no when you consider the limited budget and other places we need help. Obviously Byrd is better, I just don't know for this team right now. That would mean Fuld becomes a full-time player. Probably end up around a .650-675 OPS, maybe not even that good. Compare that with the .800 OPS that Byrd will likely put up. 100-150 points of OPS is a lot. Sure Fuld's defense is better, but not nearly enough to compensate for the difference in OPS. Maybe, I'd think Fuld could be around 700. I definitely understand your point though. I don't know, I'd be more excited doing something with 15 million that moved Riot to 2nd and brought us a SS. Let's see where else the offseason goes to judge this move on the whole I suppose. Where's he hitting? 7? The 20 home runs seems to be the anomaly last year Nobody in their right mind should want Sam Fuld starting full time in center.
  11. Can we add an Oh MY! to this thread title?
  12. This whole thing just has disaster written all over it.
  13. ESPN rumor central is saying the Cubs are close to trading Bradley to an AL team for anothre high priced player.
  14. I'd much rather give up Castro rather than both Vitters and Cashner. I'm in the minority probably but I'd deal Castro before Vitters.
  15. Gammons just reported Detriot asked for Castro and two prospects. Cubs said that too much.
  16. I wonder if perenial trade target David DeJesus is involved. We could do worse. Isn't he basically the same player as Cameron?
  17. Levine now reporting the Cubs and Royals are talking about a Bradley trade.
  18. Didn't see this anywhere. It's from Kaplan. I have learned that the Cubs have informed Harden and Gregg as well as outfielder Reed Johnson that they will not be offered salary arbitration meaning that if those players sign with another club the Cubs will get no draft pick compensation.
  19. I would have no problem with Castillo playing second base here next season. I think he only has one more year left on his contract. He had a nice bounce back season as a lot of intellegent baseball minds thought he might.
  20. The goal tending was legit. It actually wasn't even close to not being goal tending. Memphis had no answer for Aldrich and that was the difference.
  21. From Dayn Perry's latest article. 10 things that need to happen this offseason. He really did his homework. 8. The Cubs should sign Mark DeRosa. This one's easy. The Cubs have a sinkhole at second base, and DeRosa is still effective and still beloved on the North Side of Chicago. He's a solid defender at the keystone, and his right-handed pop should play well in Wrigley. And that's to say nothing of his positional flexibility. On another level, the Cubs' failure to resign DeRosa last winter angered many fans, especially once the team began circling the drain. The Ricketts family could, in one move, fill a hole and distinguish itself from the Tribune era
  22. I just hope it stays close. It could get ugly.
  23. Yea, that's a pretty ridiculous statement.
