  1. Paul Phillips maybe? Personally, I'd probably just bring up Chris Robinson as a reward for his work in Iowa.
  2. That's stupid. A guy with a sub .300 OBP... what guy? Corey Patterson? Neifi? Shawon Dunston? Dave Kingman? And what timeframe are we looking at to determine his OBP? Previous playoff series? The last month? The whole season? Who is getting the extra plate appearances at the top of the order if not Soriano? Fukudome? Theriot? Fontenot? Blanco? The simple fact is this... there are far too many variables in play to attempt to make the kind of statement you're trying to. You're trying to frame the argument in an absurd manner for one of two reasons... either you really are just so dumb you think it's a valid way to make an argument, or simply to stroke your epeen. Either way... you're losing. Cut it out.
  3. Jake Fox's catching experience allows us to be a bit more liberal with our usage of our backup catcher as a pinch hitter... as he can be an adequate emergency catcher should something happen to our starter. That's it.
  4. People are still questioning if his bat is worth his defense at 3B... let alone 2B.
  5. I loved the picks of him and Schafer. Two boom-or-bust players... one of each result, early indications are...
  6. Fontenot is just as much of a SS as Miles is.
  7. My guess... Fuld, Blanco, and Hart down.
  8. Bumpy bumpy.
  9. No confirmation yet from any news outlets that I can see... I wouldn't mind the move though, provided it didn't cost much.
  10. Do NOT feed the troll.
  11. I'm pretty sure you're somebody's alternate account created solely to try to provoke us. I'm claiming entrapment.
  12. I don't see why not. He's [expletive] crazy.
  13. As long as Fukudome is sporting the highest OBP on the team, I think we should give him a chance to work his way out of his slump. It looks like he's gonna be a streaky player... get over it. These ridiculous overreactions make all cubs fans look as crazy as the OP.
  14. Too many relevant names, not nearly enough irrelevant ones. I'd bet dollars to dimes that's more fake than Joan Rivers.
  15. Lou was pissed about him firing his helmet and smashing the cooler... told him to take his uniform off and go home. Words exchanged, but no violence. Plans to play him tomorrow.
  16. I was all about Schmidt, but I don't have access to his medical records, and every indication is the Dodgers knew they were signing him injured. I'm not gonna beat myself up over that. I was wrong on Padilla, Westbrook, and Meche though... I saw Lilly in the middle of that group... and them in that order. My being higher on Marquis than most is a pleasant surprise, though. He's unfairly maligned around here.
  17. I've heard Lee referred to as an 80 runner. I was skeptical, but he's making me a believer that it might be true.
  18. I picked a good game to go to. Four for four on the year now... including two extra inning walkoffs.
  19. From the April 10th Game Thread. viewtopic.php?f=26&t=53689&p=2135836&hilit=dlee#p2135836 (in reference to DLee's offensive woes) You came to your conclusion rationally... and you thought the same as cubswin2009. Shame on you.
  20. So which of red bull or coffee are banned by MLB or illegal by federal law? Of course whatever Sosa tested positive for hasn't been released yet either... True... and I do wonder if it could simply be amphetamines. Sosa was actually linked to those in the past. Did the article say he tested positive for steroids, or a PED?
  21. It was in baseball in the 70's. Tom House has mentioned it a lot.
  22. Why the assumption that Griffey Jr wasn't juicing? I've been debating who, out of everyone that's played baseball since 1985, would be the absolute most devastating name for baseball to have revealed as a steroid user. Junior Griffey would probably be #2 behind Ripken. I'm open to other names and suggestions, though. Jeter? Maddux? Good choices. I was also thinking Pujols and Mo Rivera. Jamie Moyer might do just as much as any of them. The penultimate crafty player who gets by almost without physical ability... if he used, that'd cast just as much doubt on the game as anybody else.
  23. What's the difference between Jeff Bagwell, Frank Thomas, and Ken Griffey Jr.? I'd venture to say that if you really feel compelled to say one of them probably did it... you should feel the same of the others.
