  1. Two comments: 1) Where did you find this tadow guy ? 2) No, I am not trading Kershaw :flythew:
  2. Let's win some games. Now. "Terry Collins says Matt Harvey's right triceps is "pretty sore and pretty swelled up." Right now it's a go for Game 5, but still some uncertainty. Bartolo Colon, Jon Niese in reserve."
  3. Wind blowing straight out the next two nights. I think that levels the pitching matchups a bit when you need all the help you can get. Hendricks is in the Top 20 getting ground balls, so hopefully that trend continues.
  4. I can't think that far ahead. I just know I do not want to face Kershaw. I'd rather bank on the Mets arms getting tired. But am conflicted because the Dodgers 3/4's are more meh than the Mets 3/4. That's where the Cubs won this Cards series because they had no confidence to go deep in their rotation. The Mets do.
  5. This is Lackey's first start on 3 days rest in 10 seasons. He have up 1 R on 2 H in 6 IP that day.
  6. Schwarber has never faced Lackey. The rest of the lineup, in limited sample, hasn't done much other than Coghlan who's 9-17 off Lackey.
  7. One other note about Arrieta which is practically unbelievable given that I don't think he had his best stuff: In this game, he became the first pitcher ever to throw a postseason shutout with double-digit strikeouts and zero walks.
  8. I agree with Jake going the distance. The Cubs are going to need their bullpen in Games 2 and 4, possibly 1 depending on which Lester shows up. It's going to get taxed against St L with matchups, etc. Guys get up and down much more in playoff baseball than the regular season. I recall Junichi Tazawa saying the most agonizing part of the 2013 playoffs for him was all the times he warmed up, regardless of whether he pitched in the game. Bottom line; Jake faced good Pirate hitters and kept the ball down enough in the tough innings to survive. He was hit-able, but never on the ropes. I don't think he had his best cutter, but never walked anyone due to stellar 4 seam command. 113 pitches is what a front line starter should be throwing if he's strong in a playoff game. Maddon took care to keep him under 90 the last two outings of the regular season.
  9. I haven't spent time in a game thread in several years.
  10. if that happened, it'd be gross. especially since cole has reverse splits (primarily due to BABIP and admittedly his xFIP is 0.6ish higher vs lefties). Cole has reverse splits, but they were much more balanced in the past two seasons. I think opposing managers load up lefties, and not great ones, in the interest of getting lefties in the lineup. The RH who remain are really good and hit him better. Also, the Pirates left side of the defense is just better than the right side. You aren't many balls by Mercer and Harrison, but Neil Walker. I think that's the thought process here. Pull lefties and figure out how to get 3 runs up the best way you can.
  11. http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/32081/teamId/16/gerrit-cole Denorfia is 3 for 6 against Cole with a walk, so I think you have to start him. The way Austin Jackson has been playing and the comments Maddon has made about defense lately suggests to me that Jackson would start over Schwarber. Righties hit Cole better than lefties. Now, that might be because managers load lefties and they aren't necessarily good ones while the better righties stay in the lineup. However, I think that is basically the lineup with Jackson in and Castro above Montero one slot.
  12. Yes, I will be back with Kershaw.
  13. And now we spend the next 7 days hoping the Bucs and Cards tie for the NL Central...
  14. Someone at Fenway will proudly wear that jersey...in 2016. Hill's Boston numbers this season (his 25th professional team and first starts since 2009): 23 IP, 10 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 30 K
  15. I've got no issue with this. You have to win the game that day first. So, the Cubs really need to skip a starter and put Jake in on Sunday to close the Bucs series. 1) It greatly improves chances at getting the home WC game. 2) Jake then lines up to pitch Fri, Oct 2nd and the WC game on Wed, Oct 7th. All on normal rest. Maybe take it easy in the Fri, Oct 2nd start (5-6 inning tune up). Lester goes in Game 1 on Fri, the 9th, bullpen either in 2 or 4. Jake pitches the pivotal 3rd game of the DS on Oct 12th with that series tied at 1. Lester in 1, Haren in 2 (most likely), and Jake in 3 are important because that gives the best chance of winning 2 games. Hammel / Hendricks have been awful against StL this year, so I might even consider a bullpen game a good idea.
  16. [expletive] Colin McHugh.
  17. And, as far as whom I'd want to face next week, I'd say Budcrew. HIPS has a pretty nice rotation set up should they advance.
  18. My team is preparing for the playoffs with appreciation to the Dodgers for Kershaw's 2 start week next week. I'm still pissed about somehow putting Posey on the bench last week when I made the Gregorius transaction. That cost me first place because I had to use the app that day and clearly need more practice on hitting edit / save.
  19. Agree. CBS has come a long way, but there are still several deficiencies. The East could not be tighter. Someone who shouldn't miss the playoffs inevitably will.
  20. We've got a pretty solid East bias going. I don't know why we need divisions in Fantasy Baseball. I'd advocate condensing the league to one division in the future. Top two teams get a first round bye and 3-6 play a 3-6, 4-5 first round. Then re-seed 1-4, 2-3 for a semifinal and a two week final.
  21. Open it up to an insider to see if they want to take over Juan's team if it is too much. I wouldn't say the same for DJ since he does check it, but yes the minors thing should be fixed. My thing has been to put a phone alarm to help me. It messed me up in Asia, but oh well, at least I'm trying.
  22. I have a good chance of losing this week because Kershaw may get PPD in Denver due to snow; in May. Meh.
  23. Already. And, something has taken place that I thought I might never see...
  24. Nope, but I'll take Raisel Iglesias, P, Reds.
  25. There were 2 messages posted at RK. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to text every person when their pick comes up. If you've been in this league more than a year, you know the prospect draft follows the MLB draft. It isn't overly burdensome to ask you to check nsbb every other day to monitor the status of the prospect draft. Even then, I posted at RK that the draft was going on and that you were on the clock. I guess if having a particular prospect is important to you, then you should pay attention. If you don't care enough to check the site to see the status of the draft every couple days, then I'm not that heartbroken if you get your 2nd or 3rd choice among prospects instead of your first. I don't care; it's Fantasy Baseball. My point is we need to look at a better formal for a prospect draft. I did not receive a message on Roadkill. I did for the MLB draft, but have no PM's or League Chat messages. Anyway, move on.
