  1. And what makes you think Prior won't bolt the second he hits free agency? And what makes you think he will? Besides, the Cubs have Prior under control through 2008. Tejada can demand a trade one year after being traded. Damn your quickness! Solution: Dump Dusty after '06 = Keep Prior It's so eeeeeeeeeeeasssy like 1-2-5-3. Why wait? Now you're just being greedy. But yes, the sooner the better. I'm simply stating that the contract will be up. If JH blows this team up he'll be gone and Theo will be at the top of my shortlist. (Not Huxtable)

  3. sorry, been out of it for a while, but maybe they have not pulled the trigger because it is a rumor. Just a rumor. I have failed to see anything of significant value than some reporters stating that the Cubs should do it. When does something cross that line from being a report from a rumor? Just wondering... All I want for Christmas is Prior in the rotation...I am getting sick thinking about trading him... Usually when this kind of thing happens, and its false, Hendry comes out of his lair to do some PR damage control. The fact that he isn't refuting the Prior trade discussions is alarming.
  4. We need to walk away from this right now. Teams should be overpaying the Cubs for Prior. We could have gotten the world for him a year ago. The Cubs need to cut their losses as SS. THERE IS NO REASON TO TRADE PRIOR TO MAKE UP FOR THE INEPTITUDE THE CUBS HAVE SHOWN IN SIGNING FREE AGENTS. I've got a bad feeling that this is really going to happen. I'm going to be sick.
  5. That's a pretty good point. I've been one of the most recent to jump on Ronny's bandwagon. I was a naysayer for a while. Stockstill should know Cedeno well, but he also knows Pie very well - and that's who they really, really want.
  6. Cubs send Prior to the White Sox, Hill and Patterson to the O's. O's send Tejada to the Cubs, Bedard to the White Sox, Markakis to the Red Sox. Red Sox send Manny to O's, b-level prospect to White Sox. White Sox send Garland and Prior to Cubs. Is that the 4-way they were talking about? From the Boston Globe: For now, the Orioles' talks with the Cubs are more advanced than with anyone else, though sources on both sides said nothing was imminent last night. There has been talk, as there is wont to be in these matters, of various three- or four-team scenarios, the most ambitious rumor one in which the Orioles would wind up with Ramírez and White Sox pitcher Jon Garland, the Cubs would get Tejada, the White Sox would get Bedard, and the Red Sox would receive Prior. That sounds like it belongs in the ho, ho, ho category, however. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2005/12/23/sox_on_the_lookout/?page=2
  7. Does anyone else feel like we're arguing ourselves in circles? Yada, yada, yada don't want to trade Prior. Prospects are fine. What's Hendry thinking? We could have just signed Furcal or Tejada before... This needs to be resolved. Soon. For the love of God.
  8. There's a reason no team in baseball thinks Nomar can play SS next year. I don't understand why people can't get that. Put him at 2B then and place Cedeno at SS. When we are talking about losing Mark Prior for a SS you have to wonder and think what other options were available. There's really no difference at 2B though and again no one in baseball was willing to put him there. He's restricted to 1B, 3B and LF at this point in his career. I'm pretty sure there were some less than desirable teams that were willing to let him play 2b, but the Dodgers were a better situation so he decided to go home where the money is.

  10. The point is the Cubs could have had either SS without sacrificing their biggest superstars - if they could just sign them in the first place.
  11. He might as well trade Pie now, because he might be working for the Pirates by the time Pie is ready for the big show. Why the H wouldn't he want to trade Pie????????????????
  12. Oh...my...God. I didn't even think about that. This will haunt us forever. Forget Brock. Forget Maddux. Forget all of it. That would be really bad.
  13. http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=10235 See this is my problem with the analysis of this supposed deal. People put whatever little label they want on a player and all of a sudden it starts to make sense. You have to look at the entire package, the big picture, the whole enchilada. When you do that, you can't justify the Cubs trading Prior for Tejada. The offense gets better, the pitching gets worse, the current team stays stagnant and the future is at risk. I could see the purposed deal making the Cubs better in 06 but they are pretty much selling out 07 and 08. Sounds like a GM in a contract year to me. I'm not sure how you arrived at this conclusion? Tejada would still be under contract and no older than 32, Bedard would be under contract for the next 3-4 years anyway. How would it make them any worse after this year?
  14. Looks like Prior is indeed on the table. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/features/rumors Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but does this sound like the Cubs would rather trade Prior than Pie? UUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHHHH.
  15. I was fine until our team's chosen one was thrown into trade discussions. It would be more ironic if it was easter. Pontious Hendry is about to rid us of our savior.
  16. It doesn't look like he'll be starting anywhere. The Cubs need to pounce now. Eric Byrnes - OF - Orioles Pirates officials have spoken the past two days with agent Mike Sasson about Eric Byrnes. If he's a better choice than Juan Encarnacion, it's only because he'd cost less than Encarnacion. Not only should Byrnes not start over Craig Wilson, but he'd be a weaker choice than Jody Gerut against right-handers. If Byrnes is signed, Wilson would likely be traded. The Red Sox could view him as a platoon partner for Trot Nixon and the Indians could consider pairing him with Ben Broussard. Dec. 23 - 1:21 am et Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
  17. We better be getting Manny AND Tejada then... Manny AND Tejada? World Series here come the Cubbies =P~ Sorry, Manny will cost as many runs as he drives in. NO Thanks!!!!!!!! With his defense? That would mean he'd cost the Cubs like 130 runs. Thats a lot of errors.
  18. I don't trust Murph as far as I could throw him, but if Zito moving to Balto gets Prior's name off the table, that would be wonderful. I once threw Murph like 4 feet. But I only trusted him for three of them. I definitely threw him farther than I trusted him.
  19. im much more amenable to trade guys like pie for tejada now that prior's name has been thrown around Is that Sarah Silverman in your sig? If so, I'm hoping you took that picture after waking up next to her. She's very underrated when it comes to getting the whole package.
  20. Murph just said on the Score that Oakland may be involved in a 3-way that would involve Zito going to Baltimore. That would definitely help get Prior out of the negotiations. I would think that Oakland would want Bedarek, Hill and probably Dopirak back in the deal. Pie, Zito and a pitcher would go back to the O's as my best guess.
  21. I can't, even if I wanted to. I'm like one of those dumb chicks who sticks with their scumbag man even though he beats the crap out of her every freaking day. I'm in this mess for life. I'd rather be a chick with a scumbag wife-beater boyfriend than trade Mark Prior.
  22. I would have to see how I feel after I punch myself if the nuts 22 times and stick my head in the oven, before making a final decision.
  23. This thread should probably be merged with the other Prior / Tejada thread. Just a suggestion...
  24. How in the hell did Pie and Hill get untouchable labels and Prior somehow never got his?
