  1. There's an updated article on the front page of the St. Louis P-D (stltoday.com) that quotes witnesses -- a couple who only agreed to having their first names printed -- who say that Hancock was drinking steadily at Shannon's until at least 10:30, when the couple left.
  2. & the 3B ump's name is Nick Nolde. Jake Fox HR!!! Dope adds an RBI single, TN up 3-0 after 4.
  3. Thanks, UMF, for starting the thread.
  4. Listach had said after a recent game that they had identified some mechanical issues they'd be working on. I can't find a link, though, and can't remember where I read that. I saw his last start. He was his own worst enemy that night; when he threw strikes, they really weren't hitting him hard.
  5. YAY!!!!! eta: I see that it's not his final line, but obviously a marked improvement.
  6. Wow, how sad. Condolences to his family and friends.
  7. I don't see an ideal solution until that rumored ARod trade comes through.
  8. Hawk Harrelson just described the situation as "someone with that paper down there in St Louis wrote an article saying that someone with the Cardinals organization said that the Cubs had no chance." He then said he talked with someone very familiar with the situation who said the newspaper guy "is a real butthole." Seriously.
  9. How in the hell are these people still employed? Do they not pay any attention to baseball whatsoever? Do they think Zambrano is Sidd Finch or something? It's a common theme on his XM show, Pitch counts are destroying baseball and turning pitchers into throwers.
  10. Maybe Dernier could have a clinic focused solely on RUNNING WHEN YOU HIT THE BALL
  11. Here are some pics & vids of Veal from his 4/24 start. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/Smokies/DSC01125.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/Smokies/DSC01126.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/Smokies/DSC01127.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/Smokies/DSC01128.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/Smokies/DSC01129.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/Smokies/DSC01130.jpg videos - each is about 18 seconds http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/Smokies/th_MOV01116.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/Smokies/th_MOV01119.jpg

  15. Are you serious??? Dude, didn't I show you earlier that Cedeno was a much worse SS in the minors than Theriot was? I've seen Cedeno make that play a few times this year-that kind of ball is when he usually does his little spin move. Ok yah, I agree Cedeno has more range, but Theriot's defense isn't nearly the liability people are making it out to be. Maybe not, but that's 3 plays already tonight where a SS with more range makes plays. Theriot needs to improve upon that if he intends to stick there. Theriot's the best of the options. Cesar has been a complete flop offensively and defensively. Ronny might be a suitable backup, but he hasn't shown that he's a prime time player. I'm willing to give Theriot more than a few innings to stick at SS.
  16. Wow, that's crazy.
  17. Gallagher allows 2 runs in the top of the 1st and a HR to the first batter in the 2nd. The first was an odd inning. The WP went through Jake Fox's legs and caromed off the backstop - he was able to recover it quickly, but his throw to home was off-kilter. The next batter hit a slow roller to Spearman at 2B, who threw home but wasn't able to get the runner. Log: * Dante Brinkley singles on a ground ball to center fielder Sam Fuld. * Kevin Randel singles on a line drive to right fielder Josh Kroeger. Dante Brinkley to 2nd. * Chase Lambin grounds out to first baseman Brian Dopirak. Dante Brinkley to 3rd. Kevin Randel to 2nd. * With Lee Mitchell batting, wild pitch by Sean Gallagher, Dante Brinkley scores. Kevin Randel to 3rd. * Lee Mitchell reaches on a fielder's choice, fielded by second baseman Jemel Spearman. Kevin Randel scores. * Ryan Bear flies out to center fielder Sam Fuld. * Brett Carroll strikes out swinging. After the HR in the 2nd, Fuld makes a nice catch in CF (sounds like the field might be damp/slick from earlier rain) and Gallagher gets two Ks to retire the side. Final Line: Gallagher: 2 IPs, 30 pitches, 3H, 3R/3ER, 3Ks/0BB, 1HR, 4.19 ERA
  18. Mick had Pat Listach on the pre-game show. Listach indicated Sean would throw @ 30-35 pitches and, as you said, if all goes well would start on Monday.
