They'll need someone who can play a backup SS role if they lose Cedeno. Fontenot isn't a SS, and DeRosa has played all of one game there with the Cubs. Gomez has played 13 games at SS this season. He has 3 errors (insert standard caveat that errors do not equate to defensive ability or lack thereof) and is 37 years old. I'm not sure he's the right replacement at first glance.
Actually, we did start doing something before now, and it is in the Member Guidelines. It may not have been consistent and not everyone may agree, but that's the board policy now.
Bob Sanders beat me to the punch for the first time ever! ;) In this case, there's been a pattern of jokes that either border on or simply are homophobic. It's against board guidelines, and it's better to address that clearly than cause confusion. It's not just one joke or one comment.
it was more hilariouser than the only other one I've ever seen It has been addressed, so please carry on. So posters calling out BS gay jokes is or isn't encouraged? That's fine ... I was just letting people know that we're aware of it so that the calling out of the joke didn't hijack the exciting Edmonds news.
REMINDER - If you're in the HR Derby, you can change wild card players once over the All-Star break. If you want to change your wild card, please PM me your new choice by 5pm CT Thursday, July 17. Thanks!

Well, I'm guessing that Hill did show good progress in his side sessions / simulated game, but that didn't carry over to facing live batters (though, as abuck says, it sounds like he wasn't missing by much). I'm encouraged that they're going to continue to work through it. I don't think anyone can project a timeline for how long this may take.
I'm concerned after Gallagher's 120-pitch outing last time, which came after sitting for 9 days. I hope he comes out throwing well and that Lou doesn't over-extend him.
Lou hasn't been able to resist tinkering with the rotation all year, and he's not going to stop now. I suspect the Gallagher/Marshall starting/bullpen situation will remain fluid in the short term.
Now we're going to have to suspend you for attacking yourself. ;) Bu please ... heed Banedon's advice. If they do shut down Hill, what are the rostering options? Can they put him on the 60-day DL?

Doom & Gloom update of the morning: I was out of town for the weekend, but apparently there was video circulating of Z's throwing session. On XM's morning show, Mark Patrick & Buck Martinez opined that Z didn't look good in the session and that the Cubs were being overly positive about his impending return so that they didn't appear too desperate in the trade market. They claimed that the video indicated that Z was pitching as if he had a 'stiff shoulder' and was pitching around what his shoulder was trying to tell him.
