  1. That would put him in line to make a 2nd minor-league start somewhere (for Iowa?) on the 12th.
  2. 5/2 Daytona Cubs Digest -- Thanks, Derek! Greetings Daytona Cubs Nation! Hope as usual that all is well in Cubsland. The Cubs have a much needed day off today after our first six game road trip of the season. The road trip did not start off how we wanted it to against the Palm Beach Cardinals. We lost game one by seven runs, and then played well in games two and three which both ended up being extra inning affairs. Unfortunatly for us we dropped each of the extra inning affairs and Palm Beach got away with a three-game sweep. One of the highlights during thePalm Beach series was Cubs infielder/outfielder Issmael Salas coming in to pitch in game three of the series, unfortunatly for Salas he's going to have to stick to hitting and fielding as he walked away with the loss! Our second series was against Jupiter, a team we had swept earier this season. Daytona took two of three against the Hammerheads with the first two games being extremely close and then game three being a Cubs blowout. After having off the first two games of the Jupiter series for rest, Ryan Harvey was in game three and did not dissappoint, driving in three runs in the 10-4 blowout. Catcher Jake Fox was three for for in the third game and has continued his hot hitting while raising his average to .345 on the season. One point of interest is that catcher Olin Wick hit his first professional home run last week and has improved his average to .250. The Cubs return home for a four game series in three days against the Vero Beach Dodgers. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Thursday starting at 6:05 to make up a game that was rained out two weeks ago in Vero Beach. As always Thursday is "Thirsty Thursday" sponsored by Red Tail Bar & Grill so you'll have a chance to see two games and enjoy the benefits of "Thirsty Thursday" during both of them! Thursday is also Christopher Bean Coffee Giveaway #1 and Friday is team photo giveaway night where the first 1000 fans get a team photo. Friday will also be autograph night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, a time where you the fan will have an opportunity to get autographs from the Cubs star players! I hope you can make it out to the park this week, but if you can't, remember to listen in locally at 1380 AM or on our website at http://www.daytonacubs.com! Enjoy your week and as always call or write with any questions! Derek Ingram Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Daytona Cubs Baseball
  3. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.
  4. It can be confusing when someone spot-starts. The DBacks are one of the very few teams that Maddux is <.500 careerwise when facing. Hopefully he's studied up. :)
  5. I need a spreadsheet to figure out the run differential since Saturday.
  6. There are 12 more consecutive days of play after today. Who would pitch in his place? Yo-yo Williams up again?
  7. I hope there's not a bleacher rumble with the other Murton painted guys. :P
  8. Cubs = 10-0 for Maddux & Marshall starts
  9. It would be nice if Aramis woke up sometime soon.
  10. The Score reported this morning that Freddy Garcia tested positive for marijuana use during testing for his WBC participation (not MLB). From what they were saying, there's no MLB ramifications for the positive test. He may be banned from international competition for some period of time.
  11. It should be Maddux vs. Batista. Maddux hasn't fared well against Arizona ... and there's no time like the present to change that. :) Have fun at the game!
  12. There were some amazing seats available via Cubs.com earlier today.
  13. Please remember the following: --The same language standards are in effect in game threads as in the other forums. --The same site policies about not attacking other posters are in effect in game threads as in the other forums. --If you are not interested in posting about the game, you probably shouldn't be posting in the game thread. Please respect requests from other posters who are posting about the game to move off-topic discussions elsewhere. --If you are a poster asking that a topic or discussion be moved, please do so courteously. Flying into a posting rage will pretty much guarantee that all game discussion will be put on hold. Please realize that the game threads are not going to be micromanaged for content. --The game threads are not substitutes for general discusisons or rants. If you feel the need to discuss an individual player/manager/team/strategy/decision etc for multiple posts that go beyond game incidents and into the past and future, please take it to the appropriate venue. --If there is an ongoing problem with a poster and/or with inappropriate language in a game thread, please contact one of the online mods via PM. --Some friendly advice for fans of other teams: tread gently in the game threads. This is a Cubs fan site. Actively rooting against the team in the game threads may mean that your visit to the site will be a brief one. --The level of optimism/pessimism within a thread will not be regulated. We receive complaints about both sides. We will occasionally ask posters to tone down or move discussions to prevent game threads from devolving into flamefests, and we appreciate your cooperation. --No more death threats or vows to kill or otherwise maim individuals because of what happens during the course of a baseball game. It's fine to express frustration and anger and/or to talk about retaliation within context of the game (brushbacks or whatever); just please stay out of the realm of violent crimes that are eligible for the death penalty. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/images/smiles/axe.gif Here's the direct link to the NSBB guidelines in the FAQ section. Finally: all the mods here do a lot of work on a volunteer basis, and -- for whatever reason -- the game threads generate a lot of complaints, comments and requests. Please respond to requests you receive from mods regarding posting in the game threads in a timely manner. If you believe a request was unjust, you can contact Tim or 1908 about it. Please be advised that repeatedly ignoring requests from any of the mods will likely result in posting privileges being suspended until the matter is resolved. Thanks! :D Reposted 4/30/06
