  1. Wait, what's the second choice again? Indeed.
  2. Yes, it's on Comcast SportsNet Chicago if you have it. BARE-BARE
  3. It seems that you're complaining about the negative bashing of Cubs fans ... by bashing Cubs fans. The ones at Wrigley, anyway. If I'm being bashed, I don't really care whether I'm being bashed by a fellow "true Cubs fan" or Joe Shmoe in Schenectady. I'm sure they appreciated you helping them out. I hope I'm not crucified when I dare go to Coors Field despite not being a Rockies fan. 8-[ Sometimes I like seeing parks I haven't been to and I didn't realize that I was contributing to the national downfall of the home team's fanbase every time I set foot in one.
  4. Maddux has always been opposed to pitching in the A.L. I suppose things could always change, but -- if he were to agree to a trade -- I think an NL team would be a much likelier destination.
  5. As TT has mentioned before, there may be some confusion over whether the non-trade protection would have carried over into the vesting option year (this year). I think as a practical matter that -- if the current Cubs regime stays intact -- Maddux wouldn't be traded without agreeing to it, regardless. JMO.
  6. I sent Gammons an email thanking him for pointing out the obvious. Perhaps it will be a comfort if he's on the receiving end of a profanity-laced tirade from the Cubs front office.
  7. Uh, actually, I go to a number of Cubs games -- I usually sit in the bleachers  -- and am planning to catch the series in CO this year. Wrong example. I guess the Cubs need to play in a dump so we can get street cred.
  8. Out of spite against whom? Cubs fans?
  9. Dempster sounded steamed in the soundclips I heard.
  10. I hope he didn't need tetanus shots!
  11. Sounded like he was serious about that part of the interview.
  12. People find things to do besides watching the games when the team stinks.
  13. Here's the link to Dempster's interview & Ozzie's pregame comments.
  14. If he's already sore-shouldered -- even if it's just the expected extra soreness due to his rehabbing etc -- I wouldn't mess around with him in a 4-man rotation. Even if it's just once through the rotation, it's at the very beginning of his MLB return and lousy timing. Some may see this as coddling him ... I don't see the point of pushing a pitcher returning from injury, especially if it may help the team if he can pitch well this season. I'd prefer it wouldn't be Rusch starting, but he's the only alternative I see left on the active roster (though there are rumors that they'll recall Ryu at some point). Since they have 6 consecutive games after the off-day on Thursday, they'll need a 5th starter regardless by May 30 -- next Tuesday. Does it really matter at this point if Starter #5 pitches on Sunday or Tuesday? Tuesday would be vs a divisional rival. Then again, most of June wll be against divisional rivals.
  15. I really don't know if performance or fan reaction matters one bit in terms of Dusty getting his extension.
  16. Hey don't be so hard on Rich Hill. According to Ozzie, he is trying to get Dusty fired. And that's why he should have stayed in the rotation! Heck, he should be named GM.
  17. gotta keep that drive for the playoffs going strong. so pitch rusch on saturday instead of wood? ...Wood wouldn't be pitching Saturday regardless, see the discussion above.
  18. The HR Derby winner will get the Jeremy Hermida autographed bat.
  19. Dempster was on the Score this morning and was asked about Kerry Wood. He just said that Wood was sore, that it's to be expected that Wood would be more sore than usual after 1) rehabbing from shoulder surgery and 2) having made his first MLB start of the season, and that Wood seemed to think that his having mentioned it was completely blown out of proportion. If Wood starts tomorrow, he'll be in line to start again on Sunday on normal rest since they will be going with a 4-man rotation once through given the off-day on Thursday. Too bad he won't get that extra day off ...
  20. So people who go to Cubs road games are true Cubs fans but people who go see them at Wrigley are not? :?
