  1. yay, Murton! He hadn't hit 100 pitches yet? Who knows...
  2. Then how are you a Cubs fan? The same question can be asked of anyone here ... That's why people still care about how this season plays out. What plan does the Trib have? I tend to be pessimistic, but others tend to be optimistic in that regard.
  3. Penny needs a beat down.
  4. Gallagher is still looking for his first hit as a Cub.
  5. Z's rooting for the Dodgers. I like the "to me, he's in the Hall of Fame." I'd bet that Z's criteria for getting into the Hall are much more stringent than the actual criteria.
  6. Now Carlos Vasquez has been pulled in the middle of an at-bat with an apparent injury. Announcers just said he didn't look comfortable out there, nothing obvious to report. Carmen Pignatiello replaces him. And I'm out for the evening. :)
  7. Disaster strikes in the 3rd inning as Carolina regains the lead, 4-3. 40-pitch inning for Gallagher Mudcats bat around on 3 errors, 3 hits, 1K, 1BB. Eric Patterson commits two errors, one fielding and one throwing. He also committed an error in the 1st inning, so he has 3 errors so far in the game. Gary Cates is charged with an error on a relay throw. I think all 4 runs are unearned. Gallagher may be done for the evening, though, as Carlos Vasquez is warming in the bullpen. Mudcats announcers note that Eric Patterson looks depressed about the errors and rave about how Corey played at that ballpark. They're critical of Gallagher not picking up his teammates by getting the 3rd out before surrendering the lead. Sounds to me like it's incredibly hot and sticky there, so I suspect it was more an issue of getting worn down having to get 6 outs. 4-3 Mudcats to the bottom of the 4th
  8. 3-run HR for Scott Moore! His 17th of the season. 3-0 Diamond Jaxx, top of the 1st Pat Listach isn't with the team. His brother had a heart attack. Sounds like his brother is recovering well.
  9. Thanks, Jake. The list on the first page should now include the last several sites mentioned.
  10. They're obsessed with us. Hopefully they won't be division-leading for much longer, though no one seems to want to win this division.
  11. YES indeed it would be. I'm totally pro BARE BARE. Among other concerns, I hope Dusty sees that he gets enough atbats; given that he's the best hitter on the team, that shouldn't be a problem. According to Yahoo he needs 331 PA's to qualify, and with just the AB's and walks he's got 318. I don't know how many sacrafices he's got but he's closing in on being qualified rather quickly. Even more so (seriously) than DLee last year, Barrett is going to have the most remarkable amazing unrecognized season this year. BareBare is kicking major ass.
  12. Let me just guess: You've been a Cubs Fan for how long? Who are your favorite Cubs?

  14. http://images.sportsline.com/u/ap/photos/CSB107080323_lower.jpg Maddux probably really isn't too interested in chatting in the 3rd inning of this game. But it's a new team and a new catcher. I can't help but wish him well.
  15. If anyone ever writes the obituary for this season, that may the bottom line. I know BP knocked the Walker trade under the assumption that the Cubs could offer arby and get a couple of draft picks, assuming Walker was Class A (after Clement being designated Class B, it's hard for me to imagine who could be A vs. B). And everyone has to asterick and caveat all comment concerning Walker; given that he was going to be traded and he was not going to be here next year, I'm happy with the return. And yah, I would have been much happier with a similar return on Maddux vs. the Little Cesar! return.
  16. Two years is optimistic in my book.
  17. I'd love Barrett winning the title! Plus, he really should get annointed as one of Maddux's personal catchers after the past season and a half, so his Defensive Rep will only improve from here on out.
  18. Tony Ginnetti wrote the last few non-A.P. Sun-Times articles about the Cubs.
  19. Good for Maddux. And the first Reds batter gets a hit.
  20. If he wins 3 more Cy Youngs, I'll be convinced.
