  1. Nagy just announced that Trubisky will start against the Eagles this Sunday. Really looking forward to it.
  2. San Francisco is fielding offers for CJ Beathard. Maybe trade Cordarrelle Patterson straight up for him? I don't really know much about him, but apparently a lot of teams are expressing interest. Moving Patterson would take away some of the gimmicky [expletive] Nagy continues to employ with his stupid playcalling.
  3. That miss to Robinson at the 1 yard line was the very definition of why Trubisky is not an NFL QB. Short pass, wide open and he can't even put it in a spot where Robinson can at least catch it. I don't know the exact radius of the window to make that a catchable ball, but he wasn't close on what was essentially a non moving target.
  4. I know this post is old and before the game, but I actually had this same thought process early in the game. I was thinking that he does rarely throw INT's (probably because he's so inaccurate that he can't even hit opposing defenses in the hands, either), and that I wouldn't even care if he threw some interceptions if it meant he was targeting receivers downfield. And there it was. He threw one and it didn't even bother me because they were finding success downfield. Not enough for my liking since it was working and it still wasn't translating into points, but at least they weren't trying to force 5 yard passes for no gains and punting. Mainly I just wanted to compliment your observation as I concur with that thought process. You have to take some chances. Alex Smith was the most boring QB in the entire league until Andy Reid got his hands on him, and Andy got Alex to be more than a ball control QB.
  5. Chargers used their last time out at :43 which took the game to a commercial break. I turn to my Charger fan friends and say "watch, they are going to kneel on this ball with 1st down, plenty of time remaining AND A horsefeathering TIME OUT, and put all of this undo pressure on a rookie kicker when there are ways to turn this into a touchdown or a chip shot field goal. Then my blood began to boil as soon as they did exactly what I predicted. That play was so Nagy that I really don't know how much more of this I can tolerate. There was a lot of stupidity in that game, with that predictable ending probably being the highlight. The next one that really unnerved me was the offsides free play where Trubisky throws a 5 yard slant on an obvious free play. Who does that? Trubisky does. The general frustration was that when they actually threw for more than 10 yards today, they had success. But, they only did when they had to, not when they should have been doing it more. Why would you take spreading the field off the table when you are having success doing exactly that? In general, it was a successful day moving the football. However, the end result was the inability to translate yardage into touchdowns, so it's still an epic failure.
  6. Sure would have been nice to actually have game tape of this guy in college before making the pick. Will Nagy have Trubisky on a short leash Sunday? If so, does he go with Daniels or Bray? I have to think if he doesn't show some success in the first or second offensive series the boos are going to cascade down. They would have to make a roster change to get Bray on the active roster. It would be easy to do by dropping Mike Davis. When you only run 7 times a game, you don't really need a 3rd RB.
  7. Crazy feet. doesn't see secondary options, doesn't plant his feet properly to make throws, throws miss terribly. I don't know why you can't have a plan to trade for someone before Tuesday if he has another stinker this weekend. I'd give Bray a chance out there rather than continue to let Trubisky frustrate the WR group further.
  8. Saw an article where Michael Lombardi suggests trading for Nick Foles, who is coming back soon from a broken collar bone. It's a cap space nightmare. But Foles is familiar with the Andy Reid offense, having played for KC and Phily. ETA: The absolute earliest Foles would be able to play is week 11. That's probably too late to make the playoffs, so that's not a good plan.
  9. As a trade or in the offseason? They were referring to the trade deadline, Carolina maybe wanting to move forward with Kyle Allen, Cam maybe needing a change of scenery. blah blah blah.
  10. Latest story on Yahoo sports says Cam Newton would make sense for the Bears. Not sure how the Bears could afford him with their current draft pick situation. But, I do like thinking outside the box. It may take that to find a replacement behind center.
  11. There is so much to say about yesterday's game, but I'll just say that I'm ready to be done with the Trubisky experiment. He's not an NFL QB. He looks scared in the pocket. He doesn't see the whole field. He's wildly inaccurate. And he's not going to be anything different next week.
  12. My favorite was the helmet to helmet call. It's my favorite, because I read somewhere that they would have still called him on that if he actually intercepted the ball. If you watch him on that play, he was entirely going for the ball. Hands forward to make the catch. There would be nothing different that guy could do on that play.
  13. Not sure if I understand the promotion of Abdullah Anderson. Bars is still on the practice squad, right?
  14. Yep. It'd be hard to justify coming out or the bye with zero changes to that unit, but I'm sure that will be what happens.. At what point does Nagy try something different though? Just when an injury forces him to? They can always make Long pretend his aches and pains are worse than they actually are to save face and get someone else in there.
  15. I wouldn't hate taking a shot. I pretty much forgot the Bears had TEs. Bars should take the spot of one of the ridiculous number of TE's they are carrying. Burton, Shaheen, Brauneker, Holtz and then Sowell was on the roster last week. I think Sowell was cut to add Bray. Let Sowell go and put Bray back on the practice squad and you have your spot for Bars, assuming Trubisky can manage the backup role to Daniel if he isn't ready in two weeks to just take over for Daniel. The lack of production from TE makes having 5 below average guys on the roster a bit ridiculous. After watching the OLine get devoured against the Raiders, Bars needs to get a chance. Especially if teams are knocking on the door to steal him. If he's good enough to be a backup on the Patriots, surely he's good enough to be a back up with this disappointing group. Hell, maybe even at a starter.
  16. Kwiatkoski deserved a game ball on Sunday. He looked like ass in preseason, so that was a pleasant surprise. I've always liked him. Thought he played well the last few years. It was just this preseason that had me concerned.
  17. yup, very scary. Hopefully they learned something from the Giants debacle last year, but another concern is that everybody will focus on Mack getting his revenge. NFL games like to go off script. I'm very scared of a full Chase Daniel game. Does Mack really need revenge, though? He was traded to a much better situation and he got his big payday. He is probably thankful. With that said, I'm sure Derek Carr will be running for his life. I'd guess Roquan, Hicks and Nichols all suit up. If Roquan doesn't play on Sunday, they won't be able to continue hiding this "personal issue" story any longer. It will become too much of a distraction, and that is something the team could do without right now.
  18. Why would they want Case Keenum? I'd put Keenum on the short list of potential replacements that are likely better than Daniel or Trubisky.
  19. Couldn't the Bears get Case Keenum on the cheap from Washington? Rumors are that they may start Colt McCoy this week, and that puts Haskins back in the role of learning the NFL game where he probably should be. I don't think I would hate that deal, depending on what it would cost. Do the Bears really go with Daniel/Bray for the length of time Trubisky might be out? Maybe they do because Daniel didn't do anything to hurt himself in the Vikings game.
  20. He had one good season and was probably the worst 'feature' running back in the league last year (maybe Carlos Hyde was worse). Glad to see he had one good game with the Eagles, though. Tough one for the Packers last night when you consider the injuries. Adams is so key for their offense. I felt that Howard's usage by Nagy's playbook is why Howard was rated so poorly. Howard in the game= running play or pass to potentially anyone not named Jordan Howard. Cohen in the game=more likely a pass play. Howard was open on check downs repeatedly and ignored as an option time and again. Screen plays were just not an option when Howard was in the game, allowing the safeties to key on the run between the tackles. That predictability lessened the strength of the running game and eliminated a potential backfield threat in the passing game.
  21. Offensively, they are definitely a talented group. Defensively, they look pretty bad.
  22. Jordan Howard sure looked good last night. Caught a screen pass for a TD. Ran well. Not sure how his accomplishments offensively don't fit Nagy's system. You are welcome, Philadelphia.
  23. Big brain=big helmet
  24. Those incomplete passes are the ones he needs to complete. That would have improved those number tremendously. Unfortunately, I'm not sure he has that tool. So he should have a 100% completion rate? We'll have to live with the inexplicably missed throws. But I think he's still not seeing throws that are there. If that can't be fixed, that will be his downfall. But if he traded some weak dump offs for higher reward passed downfield that are there, he could throw every 10th one onto the rafters and be an above average passer. No, I'm not saying he should be 100%. My point is the throws beyond 15 yards are there and he isn't connecting on them. I think those are the most important connections he needs to make for the health of this offense. Defenses will continue forcing the short stuff for no gains and 3 and outs until Mitch proves he can hit one of those open receivers downfield.
