  1. Right, but Boras' work with Bryant doesn't really start until his rookie deal is nearing completion. Maybe he got an extra million or two in his rookie deal with Boras as his agent, but the real value will be his first year in free agency, which was delayed a year because of the service time loophole. That happens to many of Boras' other clients (and every other agent of a top tier prospect) and they are all losing out on an extra year of free agency commission. The player is losing it, too, but it's probably Boras that pushed to make this happen moreso than Bryant, IMO. Why don't you think Bryant pushed for this? Well, I already said I haven't been following this all that closely, but it's 5 years after it happened and it just seems more like a Players Association and Agent issue than a player issue. When does the current CBA expire? I'm guessing it's soon.
  2. What in Arenado's metrics give people the impression that he will be successful outside of Coors Field? His stats are pretty generic away from Coors. I need help understanding why he is so coveted. He's on the wrong side of age 27, also.
  3. Boras wasn't just like randomly assigned to Bryant. He was hired by Bryant to advocate for Bryant. Right, but Boras' work with Bryant doesn't really start until his rookie deal is nearing completion. 4. Officially getting ugly. Trading Bryant might be more about the fact that its looking increasingly unlikely that he re-signs with the Cubs They did lie. They held him down to delay his service time and lied about it. Of course they lied. Every team would lie to get that extra year of service without the clock actually starting. And of course, they will lie about lying.
  5. Wasn't this grievance more of a Boras grievance than a Bryant grievance? It wasn't a winnable grievance, but it does bring the issue to the forefront for the next CBA. I haven't been following it all that closely, so I don't know really how pissed Bryant is/was about the Cubs skirting the CBA rules on service time with him. I remember them doing it and I'm glad they did it, but it's Boras that sees this as a big loss to his clients and future clients as long as this loophole exists. So, was it really Bryant fighting with the Cubs for compensation, or was this more about Boras fighting for his players? I just don't really see Bryant needing to be traded because of this grievance loss. This type of loophole has been there for years and I imagine every team has used it at some point.
  6. I think that's pretty much a given. Amukamura's contract off the books is one that can help them make improvements elsewhere. I think he's pretty much done at this point anyway. I would also assume they will be drafting a CB since they have 7 picks and could possibly pick up a few more before the draft.
  7. Impressive that Jeff Passan was able to get Kris in uniform and get a pic of his reaction to the grievance results.
  8. I think they have to extend Trubisky and I'm in agreement that Mariota makes the most sense. He's not going to get a starting gig anywhere else. He will most likely be the cheapest of the names being discussed. Mariota should like his chances in Chicago over other teams who might have a better in house QB/draft pick. Then let them duke it out in camp for the right to start. This offense is so disappointing considering we have an Andy Reid disciple, a mobile QB and some respectable pass catchers. Hopefully they figure some stuff out this offseason.
  9. I'm not a fan of the INT either, but I can live with a bad thrown once in a while. The big plus with last night's passing game was YAC, which Chicago was probably at the very bottom of the league in because Mitch rarely hits his receivers in open spaces or in stride where they can beat their defenders.
  10. Maybe he's finally said horsefeathers it, if I don't play aggressive, I'm going to be done after 2020. It's about time, at this point, there's literally nothing to lose perhaps, he's figured that out as well. Prior to these last two games by Mitch, I'm not sure an XFL team would have taken a look at him. Now it looks like he might be fixed. His jump balls to Wims late in the game were nice high throws that a defender couldn't steal. They weren't caught, but it's where you throw those types of balls. He hit receivers in stride. The Cohen screens were nice. That play should be open and utilized more by both Cohen and Montgomery. I just don't have many complaints at all about last night's game. Very few penalty calls on the OLine. Only one penalty on Special Teams. Just an all around well played game. Mitch was reading the field, hitting receivers and TE's, he stepped up in the pocket. He ran the ball often. Just a well executed game where he didn't act like his line was as bad as it usually is and he just didn't play scared. I wonder if maybe a couple of other games could have been salvaged with some decent TE's on the roster earlier in the season. I don't know if Holtz/Horsted are the answer at the position, but I certainly hope they get a close look in training camp next year. I thought Horsted did enough in preseason to win a job this year.
  11. Shout out to the tight ends tonight.
  12. Yeah the backup LBs have been stepping up. I also like what I see from Toliver tonight stepping in for Prince. Gonna need guys like Toliver, Pierre-Lewis and Kwiatkoski to be starters next year. But heck, if they get Trubisky fixed, their money situation is a lot better for next year.
  13. I'd be pretty happy with a coach that won a Super Bowl in one of his first 3 years as coach. Were you happy with a manager that won a world Series in his first 3 years? Football is different than baseball but there have been some "not that great" coaches that have one a single super bowl. Yes. I was.
  14. Yes, the one with 2 1/2 completely mediocre seasons and one championship season I mean, there's like 3 active coaches who have won a championship this century, not named Belichick. 1 championship season is an accomplishment in the Patriots dynasty era. I'd be pretty happy with a coach that won a Super Bowl in one of his first 3 years as coach.
  15. My take on that game is that the Bears are only slightly better than the Giants. It didn't surprise me in the slightest that Nagy started playing not to lose at 10 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. He really deserved to lose that game by sitting on his 12 point lead with that much time left, but luckily the defense didn't completely wear out.
  16. He was handed a starting RB gig only a few weeks ago and now his career is over. Nice work!
  17. Mitch was horrible again last night, but Chase Daniel was way worse. Just throw Tyler Bray out there and see if all 3 need to be kicked to the curb in the offseason. Get whoever you can get with your first pick in the 2nd round and see how cheaply you can get someone like Andy Dalton for a year while the kid learns. Dalton isn't the answer, but I think he could win some games for this team next year, and I doubt many teams kick the tires on him as a starter. If he doesn't come cheap on a prove it deal, find someone who does.
  18. I'm excited. I am going to my first Blackhawks game the day after Thanksgiving. Hopefully they can keep this winning streak going. Blows me away that Kirby Dach is 18 years old.
  19. It’s 100% an aggravated assault by definition Yes, but it happened on a sports field so no charges will be filed. Throwing a baseball at someone’s head would also be aggravated assault, but the “it’s just part of the game” laws keep the lawyers at bay  Reasonable doubt plays a factor in throwing at someone's head. You can't argue reasonable doubt when swinging a helmet wildly at someone's unhelmeted head.
  20. Sure they do. Many people were alive before the Super Bowl was even a thing.
  21. It's a frustrating franchise to be a fan, no doubt. I don't think anyone would argue that it's been pretty bleak, but it's also one of the greatest franchises given their history. Only the Giants have been in more championship games. Only the Packers have won more championship games. The Bears have the most Hall of Fame members. They have had some of the greatest Linebackers of all time. They have arguably one of the greatest RB's of all time, and they probably have the best two pack of RB's in history from one team in Payton and Sayers. We deserve to be made fun of when considering the QB talent this team has employed. Google the top ranked QB's in Chicago Bears history if you want to see a really sorry looking list. And it's not looking very promising going forward. We hire an Andy Reid disciple who is supposed to instill an offense that puts points on the board, and instead we have one of the worst offenses in the entire league. We have tall receivers. We have fast receivers. We have receivers that can get separation. We have receivers that can catch the ball in traffic. And we have a QB that was taken 2nd overall who cannot connect with these receivers consistently. You are welcome to act like a Cardinals troll visting a Cubs fan site to make fun of our continued fandom, but the Bears are definitely not the Detroit Lions or the Cleveland Browns. It's not even close.
  22. The drives that produced points is what I have been waiting for all season long. Purposely looking downfield and actually hitting the open man can subdue a defense in a hurry. And after they started hitting guys downfield, the running game looked better, the Bears defense looked more alive. And then they appeared to go back to turtle shelling for the rest of the game. That's not how an Andy Reid style offense is supposed to run. You don't have a lead big enough to just sit on the ball with that much time left on the clock. Continue doing what's working you morons! Mitch appeared to be getting some confidence going and then the offensive (pun intended) play calling went completely conservative. Detroit was only a play or two away from actually making it a tie game because this coaching staff refuses to grow a pair. I do agree that they are going to look back on this as a huge development going forward, but the baby steps can't be any smaller. There was a perfect opportunity on 2nd and 7 to throw for the first down and lock up the game for good. Forcing Detroit to use a time out on a meaningless running play that Detroit was playing for was just playing into Detroit's hands. They didn't need that time out with the amount of time that was still on the clock. And sure enough, they damn near scored on that last drive without it. JUST GROW A PAIR ALREADY! If you throw the ball there and get a fresh set of downs, you can almost end the game taking a knee if that's what you want to do. I'm not sure how many coaches go from Coach of the Year to fired the very next season, but Nagy is just not getting it done and i worry that he isn't coach material.
  23. Do not know but, he's listed as a UFA for 2020, would the Chargers put a franchise tag on him at 38-39? If they haven't lost faith in Lynn, I would think resigning is the most likely outcome. They can take another 2 year swing at things. They just beat a good GB team so it's not like they're falling apart like the Bears. Chargers aren't going to get a good draft position, so the top QB's available in the draft will likely be off the board. They'd be smart to keep Rivers around for another year. Rivers is about the only thing a lot of San Diego Charger fans still hang their hat on. Once Rivers is gone, they will lose another chunk of fan base. With that said, the Bears are looking like quite the dumpster fire at this point, which might be hard to compel any decent QB options to come to Chicago. Trubisky does nothing to make the offensive line look good, and the Bears won't be making any improvements to the line this offseason. Any money they do have to spend this offseason will need to go to a QB, and i don't think it's in the budget to get anyone that will cost $20m+. If this management team had any balls, they would have traded for a QB that could have salvaged a little bit of this season and provide enough hope to be decent next year. I'm so done with Trubisky that I don't even care if Daniel or Bray is worse. Do something. Anything. Except what you are currently doing.
  24. Going into the Charger game, he had only missed a single field goal, and not a single extra point. He had made 20 out of 21 kicks (combined XP and FG). So because he wasn't perfect for the season at that point, he wasn't playing all that great? That's a weird hot take.
  25. How many times has Pineiro been put in the position of having the game ride on his leg in the NFL? Yes, he should have made the kick, but it’s not a gimme, especially with the win if you make lose if you don’t pressure. Nagy should have done something to make the kick closer. They had no problem getting the ball into field goal range. Momentum is on your side. Momentum was stopped dead in its tracks the moment they took a knee.
