So depending on the nature of the incentives that sounds like it gives the Bears some cap wiggle room, if they're not likely to be earned incentives. Though if he hits them, they will take that cap hit eventually. They are saying the current cap flexibility is 9m, but the Ifedi deal is still pending. They can still rework ARob's contract as well. I would like to see them be able to add some guys when the later roster cuts start happening.

Well the Bears don't have anything from pick 50 to 163 in the 5th now. They might move around, and Pace is always game to trade future picks, but as it stands, they could miss on that tier 3 QB prospect too. Oh that's right, I forgot that Pace decided to flush our 4th away for Foles. Fantastic. Gambling on a 4th round QB in the draft or trading that pick for an established starter in Foles. I'll take the Foles trade.

I kind of expect to see them use one of the 2nd's and then trade down with the other. If they can gather an early 4th, I could see them go after Jake Fromm. There does seem to a be lot of interest in the Georgia program. Is it entirely coincidental that there are currently 3 rostered WR's from Georgia?

Pace loves 1st rd busts tho It's a prove it deal, and they need cheap help somewhere. If he can't make plays in training camp, he won't make the opening day roster.

That play doesn't stand alone. it happened over and over again. He doesn't see the entire field. He can't anticipate an open receiver. He can't see an open receiver. He can't hit an open receiver. It's why defenses challenge him to throw deep and stuff the line. I'm going to guess that he makes a lot of these plays in practice, but in game situations against a challenging defense, he has no confidence to make these plays. You can see it in his happy feet, his locked in target 5 yards away. it's affected the line play, the running game and the entire offense. I'm so ready to see this team move on. I bought my wife a Trubisky jersey, so I there was a time I was excited about him. I'll hold off on buying a Foles jersey, but I am happy with this trade.

Starting to think the Bears could have waited it out and got Jamies Winston on the cheap. It's starting to look like he may be looking for a backup job somewhere.

So Dalton likely to the Patriots? Cam likely to the Chargers. Winston to ? I don't know. Who else is shopping QB's now? Denver or the Redskins?

I feel like they should rename Soldier Field using this quote. It's Bear fandom in a nutshell. Sadly, that is where we are. We will never have a QB we can fawn over. Well, we fawned over Cutler, but his time in Chicago was marred by mismanagement, coaching changes and no offensive line. Josh McCown is only 41. I'd be okay with him, too. Pretty sure I could list several others that I'd prefer right now over Trubisky. And it seems that Pace is of the same frame of mind since he's kicking the tires on EVERYONE.

I'd be okay with Bortles. But, I still think they can hold out and only give up a 4th for one of Newton, Foles or Dalton. Winston still needs a job somewhere and the teams in need of a veteran are also drying up. They all have starter salaries and those teams will want to be rid of them as much as the Bears need to trade for one. That leaves both 2nd rounders and a 4th to improve the holes in the draft. Trubisky doesn't scare defenses, so an upgrade is an absolute must.

So by cutting Floyd and signing Quinn, I would assume they saved the necessary extra money to get the QB they want once they extend ARob? Crafty move, I suppose. The Graham signing seems a bit desperation move to me still though.

They are spending money like the world is gonna end tomorrow. Hmmmmmmmmm.

I'm really surprised by the Jimmy Graham signing. The money and that they were even interested in him. He was way down on my list. I think I might have preferred trying to get Njoku or Brate. Hopefully he surprises me with whoever they bring in to be the starting QB.

I guess if they go cheap on all the other positions of need, that might work. I don't imagine they will be signing a TE, but rather drafting one. Still need CB, S, DL, OL, TE, which many of those can be filled via the draft. If Alex Bars can slide into Long's spot at G, the line is probably set. A better throwing QB who can spread the field (and see the whole field) will make the OL better. A better passing game will improve the RB play. Defense is bringing back most of its starters, and there are internal options. Wonder if there were any diamonds in the rough from the XFL that might provide some cheap help to fill roster holes.

isn't passer rating up league wide? if it were a good statistic we wouldn't be talking about replacing trubisky. his 2018 wasn't nearly as good as his passer rating makes it out to be. at least, not if you're looking at it from the standards of even 5-10 years ago. it is up, but so what. None of those 3 are significanlty better the Mitch. Bridgewater is probably the only available *obvious upgrade, unless he resigned already and I missed it. Bridgewater is gone from NO. Brees is coming back and Tayson Hill has already stated he's willing to stick around NO behind Brees another year. Free Agency hasn't opened yet, so he is available. He's going to cost more than the Bears can afford most likely.

I think each of Keenum, Mariota and Dalton are better QB options than Trubisky. They would be cheaper than Carr, so hopefully they get someone who can step in if Trubisky shows no improvement. There is no reason to waste an entire season if you realize after the first few weeks that Trubisky just isn't the guy. I do admit that trading for Carr is giving up on Trubisky, whereas the other 3 might be willing to challenge Trubisky in training camp. Before Carr was rumored to be available, I didn't really think the Bears would go after a starting caliber QB to begin with, mostly because of cap space restrictions.

I had closed out our tab in the top of the 8th expecting a mad rush and wanting to get out on the streets, not before asking if they sold champagne like a jinxing idiot that I am (I was also the 14 year old that started the '5 outs left' chant in my section right before Bartman). Said I would cover the bill and realized they were charging $9/Old Style tall boy, so that was a cool $350 or so. Between the 9th and the rain delay...that was a dark half hour. We found out our bar didn't have champagne, but I knew the bar owner so she said we could bring it in if we bought it and started passing the hat to go buy it. Then we stopped. My bar tab was more than $400 that night. I bought everyone in the bar a drink after the final out. Being in California, the bar was not only still open, but quite busy. Didn't leave until after closing time. Waited a bit too long to call an Uber, and had to wait around outside on a rather brisk Southern California October evening. Watched a police officer pull over a car along the road that runs by the bar. Watched that unfold while we continued waiting for our ride, which basically said it was in the vicinity. Turns out, it was the car that was puled over. We proceeded to climb in the back seat after confirmation from the police officer that it was safe to ride with the guy. After he gets going, the driver says the cop was profiling him, and had been following him for several miles before actually pulling him over and didn't have a reason to pull him over. We did survive the ride home, but it felt about as iffy as some stretches of the game that were still fresh in our memory.

Also, Carr isn't very good I would argue that he hasn't had much to work with. Other than Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree, you'd have a tough time naming another WR that has caught passes for the Raiders during Carr's 6 seasons. I wouldn't have been able to name Crabtree without actually looking up the stats since he's played for so many teams.

And extend ARob. then trade mitch for carr Don't think I'd hate a trade for Carr. Floyd and a 4th for Carr?

I get why Cincinnati is "listening" to offers for the top pick, but imagine how "wowed" they would need to be to trade down? They are moving on from their QB of many years and there is one for the taking with the first pick in the draft. If they actually liked another QB better than Burrow that they think would be available a few picks later, I could see them trading. But I doubt anyone is willing to give up what Cincinnati would expect in return for that pick. And I'm clueless how the Bears even remotely fall into the list of teams that could pull off a trade like that.

I probably would have liked to see Portland, San Antonio, San Diego and other towns that lost their NFL teams or aren't considered big enough to support an NFL team have a crack at the XFL. Maybe in future seasons, they can expand to those towns. San Diego would have been a great market this year as the entire town is now ready to walk away from the Chargers now that Philip Rivers will be somewhere else. Only the faithful stuck around that long. I could see this league being successful to those towns that don't have NFL, assuming that ticket prices don't soar to NFL levels. And I could see this as being a nice farm system for the NFL, at least for undrafted players that might have been overlooked in the draft. I didn't watch much this weekend, but I am married and she's a football widow during NFL season, so I'm not going to be one of those that embraces another league. I loved the kickoff rule from the few times I saw it. Still a chance to run one back. Less full speed collisions causing injuries. The touchback in the NFL is so prevalent these days, that it's just boring. I find it worse that the touchback doesn't even make a guy get the ball and down it. It used to be that if you didn't recover the kickoff before the kicking team got it, they could turn that into a touchdown. Now the ball bounces into the endzone and the ref blows the play dead. Boring!

Yeah, that last scamper into the endzone cost me $350 in earnings. Still won money, so can't really complain.

Can't we expect 2 very solid years of production out of Bryant as he plays to get that big payday in free agency, whereas Arenado has already gotten his?
