I think this turned out to influence the Velus Jones pick. 4th best 40. I think they really wanted Tyquan Thornton, but the Patriots grabbed him at 50. Jones was the only other WR with top 5 speed, the others were all CBs, which they obviously took with Gordon. With a huge gap in picks, they didn't want to miss out on the last huge speed guy at WR, so they reached fit a guy that probably would have at least made them sweat, if he even made it there. I was shocked they didn't take a WR with one of the 2nd round picks. But then to skip out on Bernhard Raimann at 71 when he was projected as an early 2nd rounder was even more of a head scratcher. Maybe there was a legit reason he fell as far as he did, but I think I would have liked to see a lineman over such a reach at WR at that point. I wonder if they thought that one of the big name WR's would still be there at 71. I can't help but think that they will end up signing one of the free agent WR's still available at this point, because I just don't think you can go into this season with Pringle as your #2. I'm resigned to the fact this is pretty much a rebuild year as there was absolutely no way to improve enough via draft and free agency to be competitive, so I guess I'll just sit back and watch it all unfold. Next offseason we should have plenty to be excited about.
