  1. I don't see Poles taking a WR with his first pick unless all of the blue chip guys he has his eye on were all gobbled up before #9. And if he did decide to go WR, he would likely trade back again to do so.
  2. Was poised to be fine with it but 3/18 is a steal for Detroit and screw up by bears without a major upgrade Can’t imagine that was the big pay day he wax hoping for when he decided to test the waters.
  3. This Aaron Rodgers fiasco is getting hilarious. Packers are currently handcuffed on making any moves since Rodgers could just stay with the Packers and his price tag this year would be 60m. Now he wants Randall Cobb as part of any trade package. But, in the meantime, there is no guarantee he ends up in NY at all. It makes me wonder if he does end up staying in GB, that he ends up the most expensive backup in the history of the NFL.
  4. So if not McGlinchey, is it Orlando Brown or Jawaan Taylor that the Bears go after next?
  5. Would the full on tank appear too obvious if they just went empty net for entire games?
  6. Both guys make sense. Potentially the best available free agents at their position. 27 years old or younger when the season starts. Tackle is one of the toughest positions to fill. The draft is deep for many of the other holes the Bears need to fill. I think they end up filling two spots on the Oline via free agency and then get s guard or center with one of their early picks to finish off the line. If they go that route, someone like Bijan Robinson could actually be in play at #9. That would surprise me though. I think Poles will be very busy in free agency. He’d probably going to have the benefit of saving some of that cap money for those later roster cuts, also. I liked Gooney’s reference to how valuable that 9th pick will be with 4 QBs likely to get picked ahead of that pick. Makes it more like a 5th overall selection that we traded for. Wonder if Indy is worrying whether they end up with sloppy 4ths if someone offers AZ a haul for their 3rd pick.
  7. Hearing rumblings that the Bears won"t be outbid for Dremont Jones or Orlando Brown
  8. That's what I want at this point. I'm taking a guess that Carolina is the team they are talking about that might be offering this year's first, second and third, next year's first, second and third and then the first in 2025. If someone is offering that, how can you say no? Hell, I'd take that without the 2024 second and third. I seriously doubt they can get that much, but it is going to be fun watching the process play out these next few months.
  9. I don't believe the Cubs have ever lost a game where I started the game thread................ I also don't believe I have ever started a game thread.
  10. Let's just say I'm not quitting my day job! You should have held out for bajillions. I'm thinking Elon Musk should have waited on the Twitter thing, because I think NSBB is much better. But then how much would IMB get for selling him his screen name?
  11. I'm pretty much in agreement with everything except spending on the 2016 guys. That was an amazing year and an amazing group of players, but reliving those years with mega contracts was not the direction to go. Rizzo was older, Bryant was always hurt and Baez was not the type of megastar to build a team around. I'm okay with not spending wildly on a team that isn't going to make the playoffs, but I do believe that when you feel you are in a position to be competitive, you do what's necessary to make that happen. I'm also not really a fan of just buying a championship team. I like exactly what Theo did with this team. He built up the minor leagues and then built around those guys as they started advancing to the bigs. I'll always cherish that 2016 season and everyone that played on the team, but I was all for tearing it down in the name of rebuilding the minors and doing it all over again. Unfortunately, most of the talent coming back in trade for those guys weren't high minors/major league ready talent to only make the rebuild a year or two at most. This site basically got it's history here because of the 2003 team and what we all hoped was the beginning of a long history of winning ways on the North Side. But Dusty killed it.
  12. I'm believing more and more that Barkley will end up on the Bears. I like Montgomery, but money needs to be spent, and the Bears just aren't going to pluck all of the best free agents out there. Barkley is an upgrade at that position and if you were going to spend money keeping Monty, how much more really would it be to just sign Barkley?
  13. Posted moments before the Bulls became the second team in the NBA this season to have a 50 point lead in a game. Brooklyn is terrible all of a sudden, though. I felt like he brought some good energy to the team last night. I also liked the bench of Ayo, Coby, WIlliams and Drummond last night. We will see how they fare against better competition, but in general, probably right about not moving the needle that much. I do think they are a low end playoff team. Not sure what good that does them, though.
  14. He seems pretty vocal with the referees on every play he drives to the basket.
  15. I don't know where you are getting this stat that Fields had more time in the pocket than any other QB in the NFL this past year, but I watched all of his games and it can't be accurate. He was constantly running for his life. He ran for his life so often that it seemed like the Bears decided to make it part of their offense. How good would Mahomes be with Borom, Whitehair and Mustipher playing every down with a rookie 5th rounder at LT? And take away Kelce and Hill while you're at it. He had arguably the worst WR corps in the league. He had arguably the worst pass protection in the league. I compare Fields' season to that one playoff game when Mahomes was down to only 2 starting OLinemen. What would he have done if it was like that for him all season, like it was with Fields. You start losing confidence in your ability to make plays, because you never have time to plant your feet and throw. Burrow was getting killed by his OLine. They gave him protection and weapons and now he's fine, but he also suffered a major injury beforehand. Lawrence is looking great now, but his first season was rough. Jacksonville spent more money this past offseason than anyone. Expecting a franchise QB to look like a franchise QB with zero pro bowl caliber players surrounding him is asking for way more than what would be within reason. You give him his chance with a better team and if he isn't the guy THEN, then you move on. Not before. I look at the points Fields was putting on the scoreboard all year without playmakers and I say give that guy some real talent and let's see what he can do. This isn't a situation where it's your only chance to make a change at QB. If he doesn't work out, they will be in a good position to get a top tier QB if they trade down and pick up valuable 2024 draft assets.
  16. Pritzger is already on record saying he won't cough up any money for a stadium. Of course, no one has greased his wheels yet, so it's still too early to say it won't happen.
  17. Commanders? They're probably the combo of closest to playoffs in 2022 with the most cap space (without restructures) But any team, even the Saints can figure out the cap hit part of it all. Washington was the first team I thought of, also. If they sign Carr, then Payne probably walks.
  18. What team do we feel can most afford him given he probably wants to sign with a playoff caliber team?
  19. They did NOT get it right as Devin Hester did not get in. 2023 and #23 didn't get in. Literally undisputed as the best at what he did. Maybe he can go in with teammate Julius Peppers next year.
  20. I think Indy has to trade up. They risk getting the 4th best QB if they sit still. Houston is taking a QB. Bears are trading down with someone. AZ could trade down also if they are offered a crazy package for the 3rd pick and the last of the top 3 QB prospects. I think the Indy pick is one of the best picks the Bears can get. They have a chance to get the best player in the draft this year and next year as I think the Colts will have a tough year. If I'm Poles, I try to get as much out of Indy as I can. If AZ doesn't trade down and takes the guy the Bears covet, they can then consider dropping back again to the team that wants that last top QB prospect. In other words, I feel like the Bears will be in another great spot to trade back a second time (or even a third time if they swapped with Houston, although highly unlikely).
  21. I'd do that Raiders trade all day long, but I don't think the Raiders make that trade. McDaniels is going to push for Brady, and you won't get Brady if you trade away all of your draft picks for Brady's backup.
  22. Feel any better now? I do. I feel bad for Pollard though. I do still have good news. My playoff bracket is still perfect after the first two weeks. Just need Cincy to beat San Fran in the Super Bowl for a perfect bracket.
  23. The finals of the King of the Mountain somehow ended up being: Team A: Purdy, McKinnon, Kelce Team B: Purdy, McKinnon, Samuel Samuel will have to top Kelce's 22.5 points since the other two guys are a wash. Interestingly enough, Team A didn't go with Burrow, who already has 2 TD passes in the first half. I'm guessing Team A didn't want to deal with the weather. With that said, my line up in the finals this week would have been Purdy, Pollard and Davonta Smith. Smith did quite well in his game, and Tony Pollard would only need to get me 6.3 points for the $25K. That's basically a 3 yard TD run or catch. Or 63 yards rushing/receiving. If only I hadn't made that change in the first week of playoffs. Damn!
  24. I think it's more favorable that Stroud declared. While I don't think it changes much, I do see the potential of 3 QB's going with the first 3 picks, leaving Anderson sitting there at #4. While I don't know enough about any of these QB's to know that any of them are top of the draft worthy, there are a lot of teams interested in a QB this offseason. Some can afford to move draft capital more easily than spending on their limited cap space for Jimmy G. or Carr. We only really need Houston to want to move up to the first pick and Indy to want to move to the second pick. Raiders or Atlanta could want to move up to 3rd after they miss out on the first two QB's. A guy can dream. Probably going to end up much ado about nothing, the Bears will end up keeping the #1 pick taking Will Anderson. Wouldn't be too bad ending up with the best player in the draft. At the very least, they'll have a great deal being offered by the Colts.
